Accoya was used for all the superior decking and facades throughout the ‘Jungle House’ on Guarujá Beach. Accoya wood was also used for some of the interior paneling and room furniture as well as for unique MUXARABI joineries. This is a special type of joinery used by architects to enhance the aestetic design of a project as the joinery acts as a light filter providing varying projections of light throughout the day. The architect chose not to apply any colour, leaving Accoya in its natural grey state therefore complimenting the beautiful surroundings of the project. Accoya was also chosen due to its incredible durability to withstand Brazil’s intense heat and humidity. Our goal on this project was to create a live-able and open feeling space in a 690 square foot modern farmhouse. We planned for an open feeling space by installing tall windows and doors, utilizing pocket doors and building a vaulted ceiling. An efficient layout with hidden kitchen appliances and a concealed laundry space, built in tv and work desk, carefully selected furniture pieces and a bright and white colour palette combine to make this tiny house feel like a home. We achieved our goal of building a functionally beautiful space where we comfortably host a few friends and spend time together as a family. John McManus

Photo Credit: Andy Beasley An exciting extension with an oversailing roof, gives a little ahade and protection from glaring sun whilst still letting in bright daylight. The slot windows above the sliding doors adds another level of light and detail whilst making the roof seem as though it is floating.

I have received many inquiries regarding this cabinetry. While the product was beautiful, I cannot recommend the company that supplied it. Custom summer kitchen. The cabinetry is not actual teak, but a man made composite product specially designed to hold up in the Florida elements.
