This full-gut kitchen renovation was a transformative project that reimagined the space from the ground up. The remodel included a complete layout redesign, which required relocating plumbing and electrical through the concrete foundation to accommodate the new plan.
Key upgrades included the installation of a sleek induction cooktop, a 42" built-in refrigerator, two sinks for enhanced functionality, and significantly increased cabinet storage to maximize space.
The result is a high-performance, modern kitchen that offers both form and function — with clean lines, smart appliances, and a layout designed for seamless everyday living and entertaining.

When it was time for an update, These Bolingbrook IL homeowners decided on a transitional style. Blending clean, modern lines with warm traditional styles and tones, this kitchen is a comfortable yet modern space. Kemper Choice maple cabinetry was used, in a clean-line raised panel style. To keep this wide open space feeling cozy, a warm glazed finish was chosen.
Traditional touches include a stacked crown molding, decorative panels throughout, and a detailed baseboard molding. Contemporary details include the black Quartz countertop, quartz sink, plus sleek hardware and faucet. The final touch is the ultra-contemporary light fixtures. Storage was increased with the addition of a pantry cabinet, an appliance garage to stash small appliances, and the new island. The end result blends traditional with contemporary, giving us an updated modern feeling.

This outdoor living addition was built with an original-to-the-home look including matching shingles, paint, and brick. The tongue and groove wood ceiling and stamped concrete enhance the feel of this outdoor project. Ceiling fans create a sweet breeze throughout this patio, and the recessed lighting allows for an enjoyable evening outdoors. Flood lights were also placed on the exterior of the patio to increase nighttime visibility and security.

Some may have passed by this diamond in the rough, but my clients had a true gut feeling that an addition and total renovation would turn heads after completion, and boy were they right!
We literally flipped the garage location, re-routed circulation and increased habitable areas to create great curb appeal, an open concept and easy flow throughout the home. A gut renovation to the interior includes a new spacious kitchen, dining and living rooms, a gas fireplace, two additional bedrooms, a bonus room, as well as a new powder room, primary bathroom and second floor laundry. New windows and apertures throughout increase natural light indoors — tenfold — creating a warm and welcoming feeling. The exterior transformation makes it hard to even identify the original home.
This total modification is a testament to never judge a book by its cover.

Gary Duff Designs was called on to this Long Island home to maximize and transform a small space. Building on the existing features, including a pool and patio, the team added a new outdoor kitchen to increase the functionality and livability. In order to increase privacy, a slat wall was built from colored PVC fence material. This installation provides a new sense of seclusion during winter months, when thinning plants can’t provide the same level of protection. An interesting Techo Bloc Antika apron detail was also used to connect the driveway with the front walkway, welcoming visitors all the way from the street to the first step inside.

The original kitchen was small and cutoff by a peninsula and was about half the size. We removed the peninsula, added an island adjusted the size of the window and closed off the stairway to increase the size of the kitchen footprint.

This basement bathroom in Hebron KY. was made a little more luxurious when we moved the interior wall to increase the overall size of the shower. Some other features include white subway tile, honeycomb shower pan, 12x24 ceramic tile floor, as well as a beautiful modern vanity cabinet paired with an elegant quartz top.

This unique and classic Victorian property, once defining of Chicago architecture was preserved through our efforts to convince the developer to preserve it's special beauty. We provided a major restoration of the property including rear and second story additions in order to increase the home's size, as well as digging in an entirely new basement to be utilized as a third story - all while preserving and renovating it's classic and elegant facade.

This French country-inspired kitchen blends an eclectic mix of influences including arabesque porcelain mosaic tile for the backsplash, transitional pendants, and large format floor tiles on the diagonal. To permit wheelchair access to the kitchen, the opening between cabinetry into the kitchen has been increased, and outlets placed at a lower level. Photo: Dan Bawden.

This TVL project focused primarily on a gut of this home's only bathroom and included a facelift in the kitchen as well. This lovely Denver home features a very tiny bathroom with mostly original features. Our client requested a makeover to the bathroom that would improve function & health as well as push the bright white minimalism she loves so much throughout her home. Respecting both budget and timeline, we worked to create a highly functional space with nods toward European bathroom design. We increased space between the toilet and vanity while also increasing storage by integrating a vanity with drawers rather than a pedestal sink. We utilized high gloss white tile on the floors to help expand light and replaced all major plumbing fixtures for a fresh look. The bathroom now features a much deeper alcove tub, elongated white subway tiles on the walls, shiny chrome faucet fixtures, and a new vanity light. In the kitchen, new white shaker cabinets were installed and paired with a simple white subway tile backsplash. White quartz countertops and new hardwood floors were also added. We love the clean, bright, simple nature of every space in this house and are so happy our wonderful client can enjoy these for years to come!

Relocating to Portland, Oregon from California, this young family immediately hired Amy to redesign their newly purchased home to better fit their needs. The project included updating the kitchen, hall bath, and adding an en suite to their master bedroom. Removing a wall between the kitchen and dining allowed for additional counter space and storage along with improved traffic flow and increased natural light to the heart of the home. This galley style kitchen is focused on efficiency and functionality through custom cabinets with a pantry boasting drawer storage topped with quartz slab for durability, pull-out storage accessories throughout, deep drawers, and a quartz topped coffee bar/ buffet facing the dining area. The master bath and hall bath were born out of a single bath and a closet. While modest in size, the bathrooms are filled with functionality and colorful design elements. Durable hex shaped porcelain tiles compliment the blue vanities topped with white quartz countertops. The shower and tub are both tiled in handmade ceramic tiles, bringing much needed texture and movement of light to the space. The hall bath is outfitted with a toe-kick pull-out step for the family’s youngest member!

The guest bedroom update in our Modern Cottage project included fresh, light walls, vintage lighting, vintage furniture, and classic metal farmhouse style beds.
To increase storage for guests we incorporated an antique wardrobe and beautiful iron hangers.
The mix of materials and bold accents gives this 1920's cottage a fun, modern vibe for this young family.

The priorities for this master bath remodel included an increased shower area, room for a dresser/clothes storage & the introduction of some sustainable materials. A custom built-in was created to house all of the husband’s clothes and was tucked neatly into the space formerly occupied by the shower. A local fabricator created countertops using concrete and recycled glass. The big, boxy tub, a floor model bought at an extreme discount, is the focal point of the room. Many of the other lines in the room echo its geometric and modern clean lines. The end result is a crisp, clean aesthetic that feels spacious and is filled with light.

Hammer & Hand built this custom listening room for a Portland audiophile. To isolate the room from the rest of the home and improve the listening experience the space includes a self-contained minisplit heat pump and a dedicated cryogenically-treated electricity system. Tibetan bowls allow the client to tune the room. Noted acoustic engineer Art Noxon positioned gray bass traps along the walls of the room so bass frequencies penetrate the walls instead of bouncing around the room. The team removed a bathroom to increase the size of the space to 11 x 17. Double sound attenuating doors lock sound into the room and keep the rest of the home quiet. A small storage room adjoining the listening room includes a custom built bookshelf for holding records, CDs, and other items.
