Clean furniture silhouettes—from Cassina, Poltrona Frau and B&B Italia—a Massimo Vitali beach scene, a Moooi chandelier and industrial finishes (such as the steel of the fireplace surround and the anodized aluminum of a sleek Bulthaup kitchen) spark a creative tension between indoors and out. The gray palette provides a quiet backdrop for the nature outside, except for the master suite, where custom oak panels and blue shades create a reassuring warmth conducive to sleep. Always wanting an island for dining and prep, this homeowner decided it was time to remodel the kitchen. Removing the peninsula made the room more open and airy, and allowed for the island to create a stunning focal point. We saved on budget by refacing the existing cabinets and building a custom island --this allowed room in the budget to upgrade to a marble backsplash--another classic that will remain timeless for decades. Pulling in some neutrals like whites and greys and then injecting her favorite color blue, the kitchen became an extension of her! Quartz countertops in Torquay and classic shaker-style cabinets make this a coastal classic design. The blue is just the cherry on the cake, or should we say blueberry?

Creating your dream space in a rental home can sometimes feel limiting, but for this project we focused on unlocking colorful possibilities for our clients. Originally, both office spaces were bare and clean but lacked personality. Our goal was to level everything up while injecting more fun and flavor into the office spaces so they had Zoom-friendly backdrops that made them look forward to going into the office each day. His space was understated but masculine and infused with a warm, desert style (hello, cactus!) that conjured up visions of Palm Springs. Finally, we added a special Hubby Nook into Her space so that he could visit her and hang out while she was working.

All the finishes used are subtle and soft so that our clients can rest after a long day of work while sharing a sunset moment with others. It was very important that we pick earthy finishes, and emphasize greenery within the space so that it gives a fresh and warm feel. We injected a dose of fun and personality into this small loft. There are a lot of ways to spruce up a space without over crowding it with decor, our approach was to go for all things simple.

The front of the house is reimagined with a fresh, new facade with a reimagined front porch and entrance. Inside, the tiled entry foyer cuts a stylish swath down the hall and up into the back of the powder room. The ground floor opens onto a cozy built-in banquette with a wood ceiling that wraps down one wall, adding warmth and richness to a clean interior. A clean white kitchen with a subtle geometric backsplash is located in the heart of the home, with large windows in the side wall that inject light deep into the middle of the house. Another standout is the custom lasercut screen features a pattern inspired by the kitchen backsplash tile. Through the upstairs corridor, a selection of the original ceiling joists are retained and exposed. A custom made barn door that repurposes scraps of reclaimed wood makes a bold statement on the 2nd floor, enclosing a small den space off the multi-use corridor, and in the basement, a custom built in shelving unit uses rough, reclaimed wood. The rear yard provides a more secluded outdoor space for family gatherings, and the new porch provides a generous urban room for sitting outdoors. A cedar slatted wall provides privacy and a backrest.
