Challenge: Integrating uniquely themed guest rooms and a partially finished theater room into the overall modern design without disrupting cohesion. Solution: Each specialty space was thoughtfully designed to flow with the home’s overall palette,using dark earthy greens, pale pink accents with architectural molding, and layered textures, while tying in existing elements like leather theater seating through custom furnishings and dramatic lighting. Project Name: Wabi Sabi Retreat. Key Feature: A wabi sabi–inspired home that captures simplicity, imperfection, and tranquility through organic textures, weathered finishes, and intentional negative space, while working within the existing architecture. Challenge: The home’s architecture did not naturally lend itself to traditional wabi sabi design, requiring a thoughtful approach to achieve the desired feeling without forcing the aesthetic. Solution: Rather than applying a rigid style, the team focused on evoking tranquility through contrast, organic materials, intentional emptiness, and finishes that develop character over time. A fresh update for a dated bathroom layout. This lovely couple wanted to remove the unused corner soaker tub and replace it with open space. The needs for this project included an expansive outdoor space that provides an unobstructed view of the open space behind the home while also being able to enjoy the sunny Colorado weather. Through an in depth design process the decision to use Tigerwood, a hardwood decking, was established. Tigerwood provides a long lasting decking option that looks beautiful and absorbs wear and tear much better than its softwood and composite counterparts. For the roof it was decided that a timber frame design with cedar tongue and groove would be the best duo for form, function, and aesthetics. This allowed for multiple lights, outlets, and a ceiling fan to be integrated into the design.
