Vision for Renewal: Embracing Modernity While Honoring History
Built in the heart of a community renowned for its dedication to Mid-Century Modern architecture, this home has stood the test of time. Its original design, characterized by open spaces, flat planes, and vast use of single-paned glass, aimed to merge indoor and outdoor living. However, decades had taken their toll. The home featured inefficient materials and outdated layouts that no longer met the needs of modern homeownership. The renovation aimed to preserve the home’s unique architectural features but update its functionality for modern living. The homeowner, Stacy Kosis of Nook Design Collective, is a seasoned designer with over 19 years in the industry. She deeply appreciates Mid-Century Modern aesthetics and served as Director of Design with a Colorado custom home builder before branching out on her own two years ago. Kosis embarked on this ambitious project to breathe new life into a structure many saw beyond repair. The complete gut renovation was done in 8 months which is a huge testament to the Kosis’ skill and knowledge in design and construction. Her background experience and knowledge of NanaWall systems reliability and performance in previous projects were instrumental in her approach.

Mid-Century Modern Transformation: This extensive home remodel encompassed a fresh kitchen and bathroom overhaul, a revitalized living room with vaulted ceilings, updated HVAC systems, new flooring, and a complete interior and exterior repaint. Additionally, the project included comprehensive re-piping and rewiring for modern functionality
Find the right local pro for your project

This renovation was all about turning frustration into function for a family of four who loved their neighborhood but felt boxed in by their outdated, choppy layout. The kitchen was tired, the rooms felt dark, and nothing quite worked the way they needed it to.
With a clear goal—bring in more light, open up the space, and create a kitchen worthy of a passionate home cook—they trusted our team to reimagine their home from the ground up. They even moved into a rental during construction to give us full access to do the work right (and on schedule).
What We Did:
Opened Up the Main Floor: By engineering the removal of major structural walls (and reinforcing from the basement up), we transformed the layout into one cohesive, flowing space.
Maximized Natural Light: A new family room window turned a once-dark corner into a bright, cozy gathering spot.
Created a Statement Kitchen: Featuring navy lowers, white uppers, and a quartz backsplash that continues seamlessly over a waterfall island—both bold and functional.
Upgraded Flooring & Storage: Wide-plank white oak flooring throughout, with custom millwork in the family room and mudroom for stylish, everyday storage solutions.
The Result?
A main floor that finally supports the way this family lives, entertains, and relaxes. It’s light-filled, beautifully functional, and—most importantly—it feels like home.

This savvy wet bar area in the dining room of this newly remodeled home features Sherwin-Williams “Jasper” SW 6216 on Dura Supreme’s Craftsman door style. This deep, sophisticated green color is green-black paint that’s sure to be a long-lasting classic. This color was selected for Dura Supreme’s 2017-2018 Curated Color Collection. Dura Supreme’s Curated Color Collection is a collection of cabinet paint colors that are always fresh, current and reflective of popular color trends for home interiors and cabinetry. This offering of colors is continuously updated as color trends shift.
Painted cabinetry is more popular than ever before and the color you select for your home should be a reflection of your personal taste and style. Our Personal Paint Match Program offers the entire Sherwin-William’s paint palette and Benjamin Moore’s paint palette, over 5,000 colors, for your new kitchen or bath cabinetry.
Color is a highly personal preference for most people and although there are specific colors that are considered “on trend” or fashionable, color choices should ultimately be based on what appeals to you personally. Homeowners often ask about color trends and how to incorporate them into newly designed or renovated interiors. And although trends and fashion should be taken into consideration, that should not be the only deciding factor. If you love a specific shade of green, select complementing neutrals and coordinating colors to create an entire palette that will remain an everlasting classic. It could be something as simple as being able to select the perfect shade of white that complements the countertop and tile and works well in a specific lighting situation. Our new Personal Paint Match system makes that process so much easier.

Our bendable rods are a highly bendable, multipurpose curtain track system that can be quickly customized to fit any wall shape or ceiling curvature. You can install these rods on the ceiling, wall and even acoustical ceilings (drop ceiling gird panel systems). www.bendablerods.com
Our bendable rods are designed for strength and durability. The rods have an I-beam configuration with an embedded metal spine for sturdiness. The metal interior is manufactured in a long sheet or also known as a metal plate and runs the entire length of the rod. This embedded metal allows the rod to bend from side to side while still being stable. The rod is coated with the highest-quality resin which is water resistant. They can bend 90 degrees or more without a splice so the sliders can move freely without interruption. The diameter of a standard duty circular rod can be as small as 12″. The life expectancy of our bendable rods is 20 years!
Since the rod is water resistant, it’s able to be used in indoor or outdoor applications. The uses of our bendable rods are numerous. They are an excellent solution for both residential and commercial projects. Our rods are a great solution for drapery and curtain use in homes, hotels, restaurants, boats, photo studios, high-rise curved walls, cubical dividers, bay windows, bow windows, RV’s, curved shower rods, tapestries and much more.
For more information, go to www.bendablerods.com
For draperies, we work with clients in the Central Indiana Area. The bendable rods can be ordered in our Houzz store online. Contact us today to get started on your project. 317-273-8343
