Looking at this home today, you would never know that the project began as a poorly maintained duplex. Luckily, the homeowners saw past the worn façade and engaged our team to uncover and update the Victorian gem that lay underneath. Taking special care to preserve the historical integrity of the 100-year-old floor plan, we returned the home back to its original glory as a grand, single family home. The project included many renovations, both small and large, including the addition of a a wraparound porch to bring the façade closer to the street, a gable with custom scrollwork to accent the new front door, and a more substantial balustrade. Windows were added to bring in more light and some interior walls were removed to open up the public spaces to accommodate the family’s lifestyle. This exquisite bathroom remodel located in Alpharetta, Georgia is the perfect place for any homeowner to slip away into luxurious relaxation. This bathroom transformation entailed removing two walls to reconfigure the vanity and maximize the square footage. A double vanity was placed to one wall to allow the placement of the beautiful Danae Free Standing Tub. The seamless Serenity Shower glass enclosure showcases detailed tile work and double Delta Cassidy shower rain cans and trim. An airy, spa-like feel was created by combining white marble style tile, Super White Dolomite vanity top and the Sea Salt Sherwin Williams paint on the walls. The dark grey shaker cabinets compliment the Bianco Gioia Marble Basket-weave accent tile and adds a touch of contrast and sophistication. The client fell in love with this Modena tile from Emser - which has a Petrified wood look to it. With the active pattern in it - the remaining tile installed was a mixture of natural stone and glass.

Rustic and modern design elements complement one another in this 2,480 sq. ft. three bedroom, two and a half bath custom modern farmhouse. Abundant natural light and face nailed wide plank white pine floors carry throughout the entire home along with plenty of built-in storage, a stunning white kitchen, and cozy brick fireplace. In the living room, a massive black Venetian glass chandelier suspends dramatically from a 12-foot tray ceiling, offset by detailed triple-crown molding. Custom wall molding adds texture to charcoal gray walls. Black granite frames the ventless fireplace, where black fire glass is used to conceal the gas plumbing lines. A flat screen television and integrated speakers are among several devices comprising a home automation system that wirelessly controls technology by a wall-mounted iPad or any smartphone. A long modular sofa with custom silk pillows anchors the living room seating arrangement, which is flanked by low-profile lounge chairs and a heavy slatted metal coffee table atop a large cowhide rug. Metal nesting tables and porcelain garden stools quickly double as extra seating. Louisiana artist Joseph “Jojo” Jilbert was commissioned to create a custom sculpture for the living room. Towering at more than eight feet, “Nebulas 1” is forged from fire in his signature style using reclaimed metal objects. The welded creation is modeled after the famed Pillars of Creation in the Eagle Nebula, where light and heat from young stars create columns that are trillions of miles long. The sculpture is burnished to a deep patina and engraved with intricate scrollwork. Large Fiddle Leaf Fig ficuses bring color and texture to the opposing corner, offering a natural foil to the spiny details of the artwork.

Serenity is the name of the game in this cool hued traditional master bedroom layered in shades of gray. Light grey paint covers the walls and ceiling and is accented by clean white trim. Linen draperies in a toile pattern are suspended from polished nickel rods. An antique white French bed stands on a grey and navy rug that gracefully covers the walnut stained floor. The bed’s headboard and footboard are upholstered with gray linen that coordinates with the lush bedding layered to create sumptuous texture. A pair of bedside tables with stained wood tops are home to a pair of porcelain lamps. At the foot of the bed stands a Williamsburg blue tufted leather bench with charcoal gray legs. A gold sunburst mirror hangs above the bed providing a bit of glam while accentuating the vaulted ceiling. A four paneled upholstered screen trimmed with silver nails stands in one corner, while a comfortable chaise in a blue geometric pattern beckons from another. A white garden seat stands nearby. Despite its diamond-mullioned exterior, this stately home’s interior takes a more light-hearted approach to design. The Dove White inset cabinetry is classic, with recessed panel doors, a deep bevel inside profile and a matching hood. Streamlined brass cup pulls and knobs are timeless. Departing from the ubiquitous crown molding is a square top trim. The layout supplies plenty of function: a paneled refrigerator; prep sink on the island; built-in microwave and second oven; built-in coffee maker; and a paneled wine refrigerator. Contrast is provided by the countertops and backsplash: honed black Jet Mist granite on the perimeter and a statement-making island top of exuberantly-patterned Arabescato Corchia Italian marble. Flooring pays homage to terrazzo floors popular in the 70’s: “Geotzzo” tiles of inlaid gray and Bianco Dolomite marble. Field tiles in the breakfast area and cooking zone perimeter are a mix of small chips; feature tiles under the island have modern rectangular Bianco Dolomite shapes. Enameled metal pendants and maple stools and dining chairs add a mid-century Scandinavian touch. The turquoise on the table base is a delightful surprise. An adjacent pantry has tall storage, cozy window seats, a playful petal table, colorful upholstered ottomans and a whimsical “balloon animal” stool. This kitchen was done in collaboration with Daniel Heighes Wismer and Greg Dufner of Dufner Heighes and Sarah Witkin of Bilotta Architecture.
