After a not-so-great experience with a previous contractor, this homeowner came to Kraft Custom Construction in search of a better outcome. Not only was she wanting a more functional kitchen to enjoy cooking in, she also sought out a team with a clear process and great communication. Two elements of the original floorplan shaped the design of the new kitchen: a protruding pantry that blocked the flow from the front door into the main living space, and two large columns in the middle of the living room. Using a refined French-Country design aesthetic, we completed structural modifications to reframe the pantry, and integrated a new custom buffet cabinet to tie in the old columns with new wood ceiling beams. Other design solutions include more usable countertop space, a recessed spice cabinet, numerous drawer organizers, and updated appliances and finishes all around. This bright new kitchen is both comfortable yet elegant, and the perfect place to cook for the family or entertain a group of guests.

This unique home on edge of downtown Calgary is a longer term project we had the privilege to design and implement. We were involved early in the extensive renovation process to provide input on design elements and help resolve logistical issues on the site. Among the many elements in the garden a large water feature was desired, in part to help mask traffic noise, as well as numerous areas to entertain, relax, and explore. Both large and dry-pack Rundlestone was utilized along with stamped concrete for much of the hardscaping. The slope was manipulated to construct the water feature which includes numerous falls, a stream, pond and bio-filter. Stucco walls were constructed on part of the property and river-stone walls were reconstructed to match the existing walls from the previous development. Extensive plantings throughout the grounds highlight and accent the hardscape and were designed for four seasons of interest.

This interior design detail features a statement brass ceiling light with a scalloped, petal-like design, paired with a vintage-style wall-mounted clock in an aged brass finish. The clock displays Roman numerals and “Lac Saint Louis” on its face, adding a nostalgic European charm. Below, a black-and-white photo gallery wall adds warmth and personalization, creating a balanced blend of modern elegance and classic character.

The Cleome plant, also called the Spider Flower (Cleomaceae) is heat and drought resistant. It is also deer proof with a sticky stem and numerous pods far reaching on all sides. Hummingbirds love them and they come in many lovely colors. Varieties come in Rose, White Lavender, and Rose Queen just to name a few!

Update to traditional home in Berkeley's Claremont district. Work included new kitchen, bath and master suite. This project represented particular challenges fitting the close tolerances of the modern design to the older home. Included in the project were numerous innovations that required custom millwork and creative use of materials and techniques

This sweet Linden Hills couple has three beautiful grandbabies living out in Northern California...after numerous trips out to visit them and breathe the sweet Pacific air they decided to bring Northern California to their backyard here in Minneapolis! We worked together to create a new contemporary coastal-influenced landscape featuring cedar decking, bluestone cut + patterned tile patio + pathways, louvred privacy fence, and plenty of space for sweet clumpings of grasses, shrubs + perennials.
