The basement provides adequate natural light, but walling off the gym area would have eliminated that lighting benefit for the workout room. We designed a double door glass entry and installed interior windows in the dividing wall to take advantage of the natural light. This ‘divided yet open’ solution creates cohesiveness in the space. It also separates activities that have competing noise, allowing them to occur simultaneously, but still promoting a sense of inclusiveness for all of the participants.

Select your Dixie Belle Paint Color and collect your brush. You may decideto use a chip brush or you can use a Dixie Belle Paint Brush. When you open your paint slide a little Vaseline on the top lid to prevent build up from occurring so that you can easily open and close your paint. If you leave it open it may thicken after a few hours but you can add water to achieve a consistency that is comfortable for you to work with. If you add too much water just let it sit out and it will begin to thicken again. Before you start to paint you should dip your brush lightly into water and remove the excess water with a paper towel. Painting with a damp paint brush will extend the life

Our homeowners wanted to improve their kitchen layout at their lake house and wanted an open, functional flow with increased storage, lighting and trending styles. We removed a non-bearing wall between kitchen and great room and created an area for a large island. These changes brought in their thirst for abundant, natural light and solved the bottleneck that occurred in the old space when the refrigerator was in use. The new layout provides ample storage space and open stations for friends and family to gather while entertaining. Updating the kitchen and living space enhances the function of the home.We converted existing outdated materials to be more attractive and functional: lighting, cabinetry, flooring, and tiled surfaces. We found ways to provide innovative materials for our homeowners’ selections by maintaining the use of the existing knotty pine beams, ceiling and posts and working with the existing ‘cottage feel’ while updating fixtures, finishes and flow through the space. Warm design elements are evident through use of copper accents like the hood, faucets, sink and cabinet pulls.

In this multi-phase renovation of an existing French Country Manor home along the lake, a total reconfiguration of the spatial organization occurred in order to support a growing family. The manor was completely transformed when the exterior materials were upgraded to include a variety of siding and wooden detailing, and beautiful indoor-outdoor living and entertaining spaces were created. Developing a unified program layout for the home not only made the spaces work well together, but it created a complete sense of integrated family living. With the primary living spaces flowing seamlessly together, a stronger connection to the lake and the outdoors was possible. Light colors were chosen for the interior color palette, which complement the light wood accents that were pulled throughout the home, and react with the large natural stone fireplace and chimney located at the heart of the structure. THEME The sheer delight of the merrygo- round — an enduring symbol of childhood — is captured in this beautiful room dedicated to the carousel. The ageless joy and beauty of a classic carousel creates a magical space where anything seems possible. FOCUS Designed for two special twins, the actual carousel in the room stands almost 14-feet tall and eight-and-a-half feet wide to hold two baby cribs. Two hand-painted carousel horses (that are also reproduced in framed photos above the changing tables) complete the authentic look. Window treatments start at the center of the carousel with fabric that arches out to each window to pull together the entire room. Custom fabrics are used throughout the space, and the entrance to the attic within the room is disguised with an oversized, vintage amusement park ticket. A television is framed on the wall with a monkey on top to ensure that even modern items have a vintage feel. STORAGE An 18-foot by 12-foot wall of letter blocks creates an abstract armoire that provides storage for clothes, toys, books and other items. The center blocks create a bench seat along the wall, while freestanding blocks within the room help add to the illusion that all of the blocks in the room are actually stacked. GROWTH The wall armoire can be easily updated to accommodate growing children by removing the letters and repainting the blocks in another style. SAFETY Everything in the room is secure, but if accidental falls or slips do occur, the floor has been custom made to be soft and safe. Twofoot square floor pads created with Medium Density Fiber board and two layers of carpet padding with fabric over top, cover the floor to create the feel of walking on pillows.

But, Accoya wood’s superior dimensional stability negates this problem and maintenance intervals are dramatically extended. The cladding needed to be aesthetically pleasing as well as highly durable in order to withstand the extreme climates in New Zealand. Accoya was also chosen due to its rot resistant benefits and its ability to deter insects in these types of environments.

Real entertaining occurs in a formal dining room. Having a well-appointed, sophisticated and mature dining room make guests feel catered to. My clients wanted a Timeless and Romantic environment for large parties as well as a candlelight dinner for two. We started with the light and airy feeling of the rug. Although traditional, it grounds the room. As described on ETHAN ALLEN’s website, the Barrymore Dining Table is stunning. Precise lines, an exotic wood finish, and graceful saber legs come together elegantly. This chic transitional design was absolutely what this room needed for a good foundation. The antiqued mirror glass and circular-cut mullions of the Brandt Buffet gave the room instant ambiance. Lastly, by mixing the chairs we allowed the room to remain fresh and whimsical. The Inspired Chinese Chippendale designs of the Jacqueline side chairs maintain transitional flair while the luxurious details of the Verlaine host/hostess chairs grab your attention when walking in the room. Glass, crystal and nickel then allow the room to sparkle!
