This stunning backyard features a contemporary, rectangular inground pool wth a stucco water fountain wall gracing the deep-end. The wall is flanked on either end with gas lanterns and three scuppers in the middle that release water into a rectangular pool of water framed inside the feature. Six, Pentair LED magic streams send dancing water over the edge of the pool's outlining stone. Large, stone, step-pads create paths from the pool to the covered patio and outdoor kitchen as well as to a sitting area and fire feature. Guests have access to an outdoor shower, and a beautiful natural gas fire feature filled with lava rock.

Perched above the street, this upper-level deck is a study in warmth, proportion, and connection to the outdoors. The rich wood-toned cladding wraps the facade in an inviting, tactile finish, contrasting beautifully with the sleek black-framed glass doors and windows. The architectural balance between horizontal wood grain and vertical glass panels brings rhythm and visual interest to the composition. The expansive glass openings flood the interior with natural light and open directly onto the deck, creating a seamless flow for entertaining or quiet retreat. By aligning the deck with the home's main living level, the space becomes an effortless extension of the kitchen and lounge, inviting alfresco dining or evening conversations under the stars. Durability and performance were as important as aesthetics here. The cladding material was selected for its longevity and ability to withstand Chicago's winters and summers alike. The black window frames provide a strong architectural outline, while the wide deck planks create a grounded, stable surface for gatherings of all sizes. From the street, this space signals the home's dedication to integrating outdoor living into everyday life. From inside, it feels like a private retreat—a place to exhale, unwind, and connect with the seasons.

We added trim carpentry for a fresh white backdrop to the other rustic elements. The client wanted an open plan with great flow for entertaining. Our sectional upholstered in liquid-repellent Crypton filled the bill and fits perfectly with the overscale cocktail table with forgiving, rustic finish yet stylish look. Custom pillows establish a light and airy palette with fresh blues, greiges, and whites. Graphic black outlining in the lampshades and hurricane wall sconces ground the whole.

This is a beautiful wine cellar located in this waterfront home basement. The custom wine cellar doors welcome guests to enter into the large cellar that was designed to store over 1100 bottles of fine wine. The arch is separately lit on a dimmer to enhance the desired mood of the cellar. The wine bottle high reveal display angle is also lit by a separate LED strip and is on a separate dimmer. Individual bottle bins, solid diamond bins, open bottle bins, and the magnum bottle bins are all built out of stained premium redwood with a clear coat. A stemware holder outlines the arch and the counter top is made of reclaimed wine barrels otherwise known as Cooperage. A unique floor to ceiling quarter shelving unit along with curved floor to ceiling racking contributes to the flowing motion of the room. A neutral palette and minimal pattern gives this bedroom a restful feeling and allows the textures to become the focal point. We underscored the bed with a pine storage bench topped by a fur cushion, which a comfortable spot to sit and put on shoes or slacks. A pair of weathered wood nightstands flank the bed, whose upholstered headboard is outlined by nail head detailing.

This landscape design showcases a harmonious integration of natural rock formations and a variety of plant life to create a serene and inviting garden space. The focal point is a flowing water feature that meanders through the arrangement, with carefully placed rocks and boulders that mimic a natural stream. The home is open and airy with vaulted ceilings and full of mementos from world adventures through the years, including to Cambodia, home of their much-adored sponsored daughter. The home, full of love and memories was host to a growing extended family of children and grandchildren. This was THE place. When the homeowner’s wife passed away suddenly and unexpectedly, he became determined to create a space that would continue to welcome and host his family and the many wonderful family memories that lay ahead but with an eye towards functionality. We started out by evaluating how the space would be used. Cooking and watching sports were key factors. So, we shuffled the current dining table into a rarely used living room whereby enlarging the kitchen. The kitchen now houses two large islands – one for prep and the other for seating and buffet space. We removed the wall between kitchen and family room to encourage interaction during family gatherings and of course a clear view to the game on TV. We also removed a dropped ceiling in the kitchen, and wow, what a difference. Next, we added some drama with a large arch between kitchen and dining room creating a stunning architectural feature between those two spaces. This arch echoes the shape of the large arch at the front door of the townhome, providing drama and significance to the space. The kitchen itself is large but does not have much wall space, which is a common challenge when removing walls. We added a bit more by resizing the double French doors to a balcony at the side of the house which is now just a single door. This gave more breathing room to the range wall and large stone hood but still provides access and light. We chose a neutral pallet of black, white, and white oak, with punches of blue at the counter stools in the kitchen. The cabinetry features a white shaker door at the perimeter for a crisp outline. Countertops and custom hood are black Caesarstone, and the islands are a soft white oak adding contrast and warmth. Two large built ins between the kitchen and dining room function as pantry space as well as area to display flowers or seasonal decorations. We repeated the blue in the dining room where we added a fresh coat of paint to the existing built ins, along with painted wainscot paneling. Above the wainscot is a neutral grass cloth wallpaper which provides a lovely backdrop for a wall of important mementos and artifacts. The dining room table and chairs were refinished and re-upholstered, and a new rug and window treatments complete the space. The room now feels ready to host more formal gatherings or can function as a quiet spot to enjoy a cup of morning coffee.

This home is nestled back into a nice woodsy setting. The homeowner didn't like how pitch black the place was once the sun set and she wanted to add an elegant look to place as you come up the driveway. We added a combination of up lighting on the brick architecture as well as some thoughtfully placed down lighting from the large trees that will accentuate her perennial beds come spring and summer. This home has nice limestone window arches and coins that reflect that light well and and call attention to these specific details that sometimes get lost during the day. The light colored gables reelect the light as well, outlining the tall roof detail and making the home feel taller overall.
