Michał KoniecznyRenovation can completely change the interior and character of the house. A perfect example of this are bathroom metamorphoses, which I would like to present to you today.
The first bathroom was created from a combination of a small toilet and a bathroom with a bathtub. The wall separating the rooms was demolished, thus enlarging the space. The interior is more spacious and comfortable to use. The bathroom has a spacious shower cabin, and the cabinets hidden with mirrors visually enlarge the interior. The bathroom is warm in reception thanks to the natural materials of beige stone tiles and stoneware tiles imitating wood. Black accessories add contrast to the interior.
The second bathroom is monochromatic and minimalist. It combines black and white. The beautiful tiles of the Italian brand IMOLA Ceramica give a unique character. The interesting pattern of the tiles created a perfect decor for the walls. The layout of the bathroom has changed compared to the existing one. According to the investors' wishes, the bathroom has a comfortable bathtub with a shower. The whole is fresh in perception, unique and undoubtedly timeless.
The Decorating TherapistThis compact powder room was designed to create a dramatic visual impact despite its small footprint. A crystal chandelier reflects light across the room, enhancing the glossy painted surfaces and glass mosaic tile walls to produce a shimmering, luminous effect. The combination of reflective finishes and layered lighting creates a luxurious atmosphere while maximizing the perception of depth and brightness.

Hagstrom BuilderThe double sink vanity now “floated” off of the floor giving the perception of airiness and allowing for easy cleaning and under cabinet “night lights”. This required adding substantial blocking behind the wall to accommodate the weight load. Teak wood was used to build the custom cabinetry and streamlined faucets and bowls continue the simple lines of the piece. Floating shelving also flanks one side of the free standing tub creating space for storage and display without taking up floor space.

Sometimes juts and recess may affect our perception and usage of the space. Look within the fining room in the corner. There is one of the original house corner cabinets with a leaded glass design. We brought the design for unity into the kitchen. This willingness to bend a knee to the original architecture of the home increases the chances of success in smaller spaces. We may think each rom must be different however when done with ill thought, without any consideration for the rest of the house, the result more likely is a jarring sensation. Henne Creative LLCCompleted in 2025, this 278 sqft home gym in Santa Barbara was designed to support a wellness focused lifestyle within the comfort of a private residence. Carved into a dedicated area of the home, the space balances functionality with refined aesthetics.
Natural wood finishes meet a muted color palette to create a calm and grounded atmosphere. Full-height mirrors expand the spatial perception, while tailored zones accommodate a range of activities from yoga and cardio to strength training. The space features a suspended punching bag, smart treadmill, spin bike, and a dedicated area for mat workouts. Custom storage seamlessly integrates kettlebells, medicine balls, towels, and accessories.

RBL ArchitectsThe owners were downsizing from a large ornate property down the street and were seeking a number of goals. Single story living, modern and open floor plan, comfortable working kitchen, spaces to house their collection of artwork, low maintenance and a strong connection between the interior and the landscape. Working with a long narrow lot adjacent to conservation land, the main living space (16 foot ceiling height at its peak) opens with folding glass doors to a large screen porch that looks out on a courtyard and the adjacent wooded landscape. This gives the home the perception that it is on a much larger lot and provides a great deal of privacy. The transition from the entry to the core of the home provides a natural gallery in which to display artwork and sculpture. Artificial light almost never needs to be turned on during daytime hours and the substantial peaked roof over the main living space is oriented to allow for solar panels not visible from the street or yard.
