The guest bath utilizes a floating single undermount sink vanity custom made from walnut with a white-washed grey oil finish. The Caesarstone Airy concrete countertop, with a single undermount Kohler sink, has a soft and textured finish. Lefroy Brooks wall-mounted XO faucet fixtures align precisely on the grey grout lines of the subway tile that faces the entire wall.

We must admit, we’ve got yet another show-stopping transformation! With keeping the cabinetry boxes (though few had to be replaced), swapping out drawer and drawer fronts with new ones, and updating all the finishes – we managed to give this space a renovation that could be confused for a full remodel! The combination of a vibrant new backsplash, a light painted cabinetry finish, and new fixtures, these cosmetic changes really made the kitchen become “brand new”. Want to learn more about this space and see how we went from “drab” to “fab” then keep reading!
Cabinetry
The cabinets boxes that needed to be replaced are from WW Woods Shiloh, Homestead door style, in maple wood. These cabinets were unfinished, as we finished the entire kitchen on-site with the rest of the new drawer and drawer fronts for a seamless look. The cabinet fronts that were replaced were from Woodmont cabinetry, in a paint grade maple, and a recessed panel profile door-style. As a result, the perimeter cabinets were painted in Sherwin Williams Tinsmith, the island in Sherwin Williams Sea Serpent, and a few interiors of the cabinets were painted in a Sherwin Williams Tinsmith.
Countertop
The countertops feature a 3 cm Caesarstone Vivid White quartz
Backsplash
The backsplash installed from countertops to the bottom of the furrdown are from Glazzio in the Oceania Herringbone Series, in Cobalt Sea, and are a 1×2 size. We love how vibrant it is!
Fixtures and Fittings
From Blanco, we have a Meridian semi-professional faucet in Satin Nickel, and a granite composite Precis 1-3/4 bowl sink in a finish of Cinder. The floating shelves are from Danver and are a stainless steel finish.
Flooring
The flooring is a cork material from Harris Cork in the Napa Collection, in a Fawn finish.

Designed by Kinney & Associates.
Built by Waldrop Builders.
Dusty Waldrop of Waldrop Builders engaged Kinney & Associates to design a semi-modern 4000-square foot speculative reside-nce that is in the Verano neighborhood of Barton Creek. The program included three bedrooms in the main house (one doubling as an office) each with their own bathrooms, a Living Room, and a Family Room adjacent the Kitchen, as well as Dining Rooms. The developer also wanted a separate Guest Quarters located adjacent an Outdoor Living area and the pool. One design feature of the residence was the custom-cut limestone facade comprised of large 24" x 12" precisely cut stones arranged in a running bond pattern. This gives the facade a very modern yet warm feel. The other exterior materials chosen for the house were wood and stucco, which complement the stone dramatically.

This reimagined 1927 Spanish Revival home is a celebration of thoughtful and meticulous design. The kitchen, a true centerpiece of the transformation, seamlessly blends modernity with the home's historic charm.
The design story begins with the exquisite teal backsplash tile, a striking focal point that draws inspiration from the color of the exterior trim. The expanded opening between the dining room and kitchen not only enhances the spatial flow but also reflects a modern sensibility, making the home more open and inviting.
The integration of new hardwood flooring, precisely matched to the original wood, speaks to the commitment to preserving the home's character while introducing fresh elements. This bespoke kitchen cabinetry showcases inset face frame construction, a timeless and refined technique where the cabinet doors and drawer fronts are precisely fitted within the frame openings. This style offers clean lines, a flush front, and a high-end furniture-like appearance, emphasizing craftsmanship and precision.
The cabinet design features a mix of slab and shaker doors for a balanced aesthetic—slab drawer fronts bring a modern, streamlined look, while the shaker doors offer classic character and subtle detail. This thoughtful combination blends contemporary minimalism with traditional warmth.
All cabinetry is finished in a soft, cheerful butter yellow—a warm, creamy hue that adds a cozy, inviting glow to the space without overpowering. It pairs beautifully with both natural wood and neutral countertops, contributing to a fresh, uplifting ambiance.

Toros Black marble forms over geological timescales as intense metamorphic pressure compresses carbonate minerals into a dense, near-opaque black ground fractured by irregular white veining — each honed natural stone pedestal sink emerging as a structurally singular object. The two-piece construction pairs a tapered cylindrical column with a precisely cut 17"x20" oval basin, the matte honed finish absorbing rather than reflecting light to emphasize the stone's tonal depth. Configured without faucet penetrations, this 33.5" tall freestanding pedestal sink is engineered for wall-mount or floor-mount plumbing, allowing the geometric volume of the stone to read as uninterrupted mass within a minimalist architectural interior. Includes a matching removable stone drain cap.

The client purchased a mature, small, NAPA Valley vineyard to be their home and for personal enjoyment.
Once they began converting their new "hobby" grapes into wine, they soon realized they needed a place to "age" their labors and a place to then enjoy them. They decided to design such a place within the confines of their home where they could entertain family and friends.
The structure was modified to allow storage of more than 200 individual bottles, cases, and magnum size bottles. A cask room was added as was a well-appointed tasting room. The storage area is separated from the tasting and social area by a tempered glass doors and windows. The space to be converted was a challenge. No surface was plumb or level, therefore, the remodel involved interior walls, new floors and ceilings.
Until these issues were addressed, the beautiful cabinet work, and a complete temperature and humidity control system to store, maintain, and enjoy the wine could not be started. The floors had to be floated out and chases with faux finishes provided for HVAC and electrical. Lighting in the tasting room is provided by a series of recessed and puck lights.
The bar/counter area is highlighted by a custom, Tiffany style chandelier. Enough space was left in front of the bar to accommodate two serving tables for food and snacks, with plenty of room to move about the space. Discreetly hidden behind the bar is a large capacity cooler that can chill several bottles at once.
The bar is capped with eight lineal feet of Calcutta Gold Marble and sports a brass foot rail. The bar has grape panels between Acanthus Corbels and the bottle storage cabinet areas are a unique blend of Acanthus overlays under precisely cut and mitered grape design crown molding over and around a cleverly designed bottle storage system.
Traffic flow is achieved through the multiple points of entry through any of three pairs of 6' custom double doors which, when weather permitting, can remain open while entertaining. The host and hostess can attend food and beverage service from behind and around the bar through a separate doorway.
The temperature controlled cask storage area is large enough for the clients' current needs, and can accommodate a larger number of casks should the need arise.
The floor and walls of the cask room are designed for easy maintenance.. Both rooms are delightfully decorated with earthen tone faux finishes on walls, ceilings and floors reminiscent of a nonspecific European wine making region.
This effect is extended to the soffits in the tasting room. A unique wine racking system is easily stored, providing even greater ability to maintain and move about the storage area.

Since this is a custom wine cellar, we were able to build the racks precisely according to the shape and size of the room. The shelves are made of Alderwood, a hardwood with soft grains that stays natural-looking even after staining.

A fun color palette that is also timeless was the goal in this kids' bathroom. The yellow tile is a color called Dandelion from Mercury Mosaics, handmade in America and gently variegated. The color also speaks of school busses and orange juice – sort of a little bit of orange mixed in there with the yellow.
The niche is elongated and dimensioned precisely to showcase the black and white Moroccan tile from Fireclay tile, and the sides, top, and bottom of the niche are a honed black granite that really makes the pattern pop. The technique of using granite, marble, or quartz to frame a shower niche is also preferable to using tile if you want to minimize grout lines that you'll have to clean. The black onyx finish of the shower fixtures picks up the granite color as well and are offset with a white acrylic tub and vertical side wall tiles in a bright white.

The centerpiece of the remodeled living room is a gas fireplace with a custom steel surround, simply yet precisely detailed to give it a sleek, contemporary edge. It is complemented by wood veneered built-in shelving on either side.

With a vision of a establishing a working farm and finding a bucolic locale for hosting their extended family, a retiring couple acquired 400 acres of gently rolling hills along the Duck River, approximately fifty miles from downtown Nashville. From there, they assembled a talented team of design professionals to reimagine the existing, historic 1800s farmhouse that sat on the property. Completed less than two years ago, the 9,000 sq.ft. home's elegant simplicity offered this family a timeless pastoral retreat - precisely what the owners had in mind. Refined simplicity defines this clean, contemporary staircase. Dark solid oak treads contrast beautifully with crisp white risers, square balusters, and newels, creating a striking visual rhythm. The design includes a thoughtful landing that doubles as a reading nook, transforming a transitional space into a destination.
White railing runs the full length of the stairwell, maintaining the home's bright, minimalist aesthetic while providing safety and structure. Every element was precisely crafted to meet the architect and builder's exacting vision, demonstrating how attention to detail and modern machining capabilities can bring refined designs to life.

A steeply sloping site posed considerable challenges for Morpurgo Architects’ expansion and renovation of this front to back split-level house. To provide a gradual transition for the family from their home, situated on a high plateau, to the brook and pool below, we designed numerous patios and decks at multiple levels.
The house features large, divided light arched windows. Throughout the first floor, we created lit vaulted ceilings that give the living areas a spacious, open quality. A wide central hallway forms the spine of the house, opening onto a dining room, with columns that support a curved yoke-shaped header that is repeated in the entrance gate on the grounds.
Renovations were scheduled in four precisely planned construction phases that allowed the family to continue living in the house during the building process.
This elegant, yet informal home, in its serene setting, is the product of Morpurgo Architects’ seamless union of the house and the site.

A refined balance of clean lines and inviting materials. Painted micro-shaker cabinetry establishes a timeless foundation, complemented by a built-in wood-burning oven and a sit-in island designed for everyday gathering. Walnut accents introduce warmth and contrast, softening the stainless elements and bringing depth to the space. Thoughtfully designed and precisely executed—this kitchen is built to be lived in.
