The Cabinet Store + Culina DesignOver the course of six weeks we took their home from slightly outdated to stylishly modern. We began our work in the kitchen. Their existing space included oak raised panel cabinets and laminate countertops. We identified two problems right off the bat. First, the kitchen was home to an unfortunately placed island that broke up the room and made for horrible traffic flow. Second, the family was “oaked out,” with obviously dated oak cabinets abounding. The homeowners also requested that their countertops be replaced with a durable and low-maintenance material.
To begin, we replaced the island and created a peninsula to open up the kitchen. We upgraded the cabinets with Showplace Wood cherry cabinets in a truffle finish that matched the home’s entertainment center in the adjacent living room. Next, we replaced the family’s door with a Showplace Wood Concord style for a more modern feel. Finally, we swapped the existing laminate counters with Cambria natural quartz countertops in the Canterbury finish for a beautiful, maintenance free work surface.
Moving into the laundry room, we installed matching cabinets in this space as well. Last but not least, we installed new Wilsonart HD countertops and a Swanstone sink. With the remodel complete, we checked in with our homeowners and are happy to report pleased customers all around!
Jamaica Cottage Shop IncExcerpt via our website ` "This little cottage was designed and built for storage and gardening purposes. A sanctuary away from the main house, set among big white pines, close to the perennial gardens. Clients have reported spending evenings on the porch sipping red wine and watching wild turkeys forage in the fields. The building is essentially an 8×12 saltbox with an added four-foot porch. A dormer is attached to the front and extended out over the porch.
The additional gable detail enhances the design and adds character and charm by breaking up the rooflines. Four opening barn sash windows, a single 3’ door and a workbench give this cottage its uniqueness. The building in the picture has been finished off with special touches; including optional white cedar shingle siding and a set of stairs to compensate for the slope of the site. This cottage would make a great backyard retreat, bunkhouse, or special hide away."

This ultra feminine luxury loft was designed for an up-and-coming fashion/travel writer. With 30' soaring ceiling heights, five levels, winding paths of travel and tight stairways, no storage at all, very little usable wall space, a tight timeline, and a very modest budget, we had our work cut out for us. Thrilled to report, the client loves it, and we completed the project on time and on budget.

Black Cat Design Build, LLCThe kitchen was configured to easily accommodate 2 cooks. There is one large sink to the far right of this photo, and another in the island, tucked behind the raised eating bar (look close and you can see the faucet just to the left of the Orchid).
Range has 6 burners and a pot filler.
Our homeowner reports that the stainless backsplash behind the range is easy to keep clean.

We added wood flooring to a remodeled section of the family room and did a complete sand & finish of the entire area. The kitchen cabinets were refreshed with an on-trend soft grey, modern new flooring in the kitchen and vintage inspired schoolhouse fixtures completed this space. A small, un-functional bathroom was updated with a charming (but small!) vanity fixture, vintage inspired fixtures and a re-glazing of the shower stall.
As a staging project, happy to report the investment netted the sellers and extra 40K over their investment and 9 viable offers in just a few days of listing.

Custom Design & ConstructionOur homeowners came to us in need of a bathroom remodel. Unique to this design is that the toilet and shower are in a separate room from the vanity. The space is separated by a pocket door. The vanity area has no door to the master bedroom; it is an open concept. This makes the vanity area almost serve as a dressing area due to the proximity of the walk in closet (and open concept). The shower offers an oversized bench and niche. The homeowners enjoy the rain shower head which is ceiling mounted. They also have a hand held body sprayer. We partnered with DeWils Cabinetry and Cambria Quartz for the vanity area. Double vanities, with full height tower cabinets, complete with glass doors in the top shelf, are not only decorative but offer tons of organized storage for toiletries. One of the other features we love about this cabinetry is the use of a spice rack style cabinet pull out. Our clients report that it is the perfect size for their toiletries

Integrated KitchensThe main challenges we needed to overcome for this family were to better connect the dining room to the kitchen (by removing a wall), provide ample counter space and storage, allow for a bigger and more functional island and provide a small bar area for the grown-ups. We are happy to report we met and exceeded our clients’ expectations and they are thrilled!
