The clients original kitchen was a dark, dated, and constrained space which they wanted opened up to include a window, more functional work area, a bench seat and wet bar. We were restricted to maintaining the Post on the island, however managed to check all the boxes and created a very Bright and Beachy Farmhouse feel. The clients now love to spend time in this functional kitchen ,cooking, entertaining, and relaxing with a good book.

Here was a large space with a restricted U-shaped kitchen, originally built when the home was constructed in the 80′s. By removing the peninsula & replacing it with an island, the entire space was more effectively usable. The remodel included a second sink, wine storage & desk area. Unique from every angle and not your traditional pool! The pool itself is long enough to do laps in but also features a tanning ledge area to relax on. The super spa is a massive 5-tier raised spa that is beautifully wrapped with glass tile on the spillway and is complimented with porcelain waterline tile throughout the pool to blend in together with the natural stone presented throughout the backyard as well. But wait- there is more! A travertine pathway leads you to the spa which the homeowners had the stairs custom-made to easily climb in the spa. The long travertine raised wall allows guests to sit all around the backyard and not be restricted to hang out in just one area. Finally, the backyard is finished off with a gorgeous and massive custom outdoor kitchen that is faced with two different materials to bring in the mixed elements that make this unusual backyard very unique and chic! #hottubs #swimspas #pools

If you were to look up “classic summer cottage” in the dictionary, there should be a picture of this house. Located in a densely populated community of historic summer cottages, this new gambrel-style home was designed to maintain the beach cottage feel of its predecessor. Due to strict zoning and easement restrictions the new construction had to be designed within the same footprint and volume of its former self. The new design allows for a more open floor plan, more living space, and an almost 180-degree view of the ocean. Filled with natural light and a palette of colors and materials reminiscent of seashells, this four-bedroom home is the quintessential summer retreat. Glass foldaway doors extend the main living area to a covered porch with gas fireplace. A fully finished basement suite, with walk-out access to a gas grilling patio and the beach, is perfect for guests. This custom IKEA kitchen remodel started with redesigning the cabinet layout, installing new hardwood flooring throughout, and then installation the IKEA cabinetry with custom IKEA fronts, panels, and trim work. The solid butcherblock floating shelves were enforced with steel rods welded to steel plates connecting to the wall studs; those shelves will never drop due to any weight restrictions.

The open shower stall with glass half wall and door permitted my clients the ability to not feel restricted in the space. We added lighting to the ceiling, equipped with Bluetooth Speaker Technology for a musical experience at their request. Here you can see the 2" hexagon mosaic tile in the wall niche and wet bed shower floor, along with engineered quartz surfaces for the wall ledge and niche shelves. A lot of thought went into the design of this space to allow my client the storage space and functionality for their ideal bathing experience.

This young family moved to a lake community full time during Covid. They then wanted to allow the home to become a true year round home over the former weekend house. They wanted to open up the kitchen to allow views from the sink and new island to the views of the lake outside of the living area. The homeowner also wanted an desk area for herself and a walk in pantry. I also took 10' out of their huge garage area and created a large mudroom and laundry room. The staircase was hidden behind a bookcase wall, not at all ideal with two young children up there. I opened that all up right off of the back end of the kitchen. Their house now flows much better and they love their new spaces!

This cozy lake cottage skillfully incorporates a number of features that would normally be restricted to a larger home design. A glance of the exterior reveals a simple story and a half gable running the length of the home, enveloping the majority of the interior spaces. To the rear, a pair of gables with copper roofing flanks a covered dining area and screened porch. Inside, a linear foyer reveals a generous staircase with cascading landing. Further back, a centrally placed kitchen is connected to all of the other main level entertaining spaces through expansive cased openings. A private study serves as the perfect buffer between the homes master suite and living room. Despite its small footprint, the master suite manages to incorporate several closets, built-ins, and adjacent master bath complete with a soaker tub flanked by separate enclosures for a shower and water closet. Upstairs, a generous double vanity bathroom is shared by a bunkroom, exercise space, and private bedroom. The bunkroom is configured to provide sleeping accommodations for up to 4 people. The rear-facing exercise has great views of the lake through a set of windows that overlook the copper roof of the screened porch below.

This beautiful pool house was not without its challenges. There were height restrictions and conservation authorities had to approve everything first, as well as obtaining the permits and building the structure without going to the committee of adjustment. It was a very enjoyable project as our clients made a few great changes along the way and we communicated well. The pool and landscaping were executed by Elite Crete Pools.

The owners wanted a traditional, cozy but functional space to relax and spend their summers with family and friends. The cottage is set on a point of land and had many set back restrictions. The design resulted in a unique layout and features an all wood interior, a stone fireplace and reclaimed wood floors.

The owners wanted a traditional, cozy but functional space to relax and spend their summers with family and friends. The cottage is set on a point of land and had many set back restrictions. The design resulted in a unique layout and features an all wood interior, a stone fireplace and reclaimed wood floors.

Nestled at the end of a long flag lot driveway in Amagansett, NY, a young couple purchased the property with intentions to construct a second home for their growing family. A home that would not only be comfortable for the immediate family but also serve and grow on busy summer weekends to accommodate extended family, friends, children and guests. The tight lot along with the sizable program culminated in the building envelope being pushed to every limit, restriction and regulation one could imagine. The resulting architecture possesses a traditional Hamptons cottage exterior juxtaposed with modern elements that help break up the single mass. Centered on the entry façade is a large double story window that shrouds the floating switchback staircase on the interior. A bluestone patio wraps three sides of the home, which, in the rear, leads to a small in ground pool with a frameless glass railing. In the interior, custom white washed white oak floors run throughout the home as well as on the floating central staircase. For a more modern style of living, the open living, kitchen and dining area serve as one large entertaining space. In an area surrounded by sprawling Mcmansions, this tightly knit home functions more similar to that of a large NYC apartment by serving the perfect balance between maximized form with the right amount of function given the strict parameters. Large glass sliders open the living and dining rooms to the backyard patio and pool creating harmony between the indoor and outdoor spaces. Shaker style cabinets in the kitchen pair with a more contemporary staircase softened by the warmer wood tones of the vertical slats that surround it.

Located near the foot of the Teton Mountains, the site and a modest program led to placing the main house and guest quarters in separate buildings configured to form outdoor spaces. With mountains rising to the northwest and a stream cutting through the southeast corner of the lot, this placement of the main house and guest cabin distinctly responds to the two scales of the site. The public and private wings of the main house define a courtyard, which is visually enclosed by the prominence of the mountains beyond. At a more intimate scale, the garden walls of the main house and guest cabin create a private entry court. A concrete wall, which extends into the landscape marks the entrance and defines the circulation of the main house. Public spaces open off this axis toward the views to the mountains. Secondary spaces branch off to the north and south forming the private wing of the main house and the guest cabin. With regulation restricting the roof forms, the structural trusses are shaped to lift the ceiling planes toward light and the views of the landscape. Size restrictions made this a challenging layout. All appliances were scaled down to size to keep the area uncluttered. The following includes a single 22” x 18” under mount kitchen sink, 18” wide dishwasher, a 18’ cf refrigerator and an 18”x 18” two burner electric stove top.
