This project was a complete gut renovation of a 1979 condo in Palo Alto, CA. Our frequent traveler clients needed a place where they could relax and reconnect every time they return, thus the destination is always home. We focused on a fresh look and layout while embracing bold, new concepts. The original layout was a bit tricky - tight walkways, jogging angled walls, and a cramped, closed-in kitchen. It was necessary to reimagine these spaces for better connection between the dining room and the kitchen as well as creating more generous and functional space in the home office and closets. In the kitchen, the teal-colored cabinets were inspired by an antique piece of furniture, where the wood grain beneath was visible. We were able to bring in fun pops of color by mixing cabinet finishes. Another detail we love is the contrast of the stunning black Bertazonni hood, complemented by the stainless steel electric range. The black soapstone countertop is durable and can be oiled or waxed instead of needing to be chemically sealed. Our clients love to entertain guests so we utilized curved lines on the peninsula countertop as well as the oval tulip table to enhance flow between the kitchen and dining spaces. The bespoke banquet and barstools allow for a variety of entertaining possibilities. We took a cue from our client’s art collection - the punches of color and the overall sense of drama in each piece informed the project’s analogous color-inspired palette. In the dining room, you can see the yellows and greens in the artwork above the table carry into the ochre dining chairs, gorgeous green sofa, and beautiful warm brass accents in the kitchen. The blue in the peninsula cabinets and pendant lighting is the third entrancing color of the analogous palette. We meticulously curated every element of the layout for maximum functionality and show-stopping moments. Our clients now have a colorful, customized space where they can reconnect and enjoy their time at home.

Collaborated on project development from design and permitting to installation in 2014. Over 10 years, we’ve maintained close communication with the owners and their maintenance provider, RP Marzilli to ensure the landscape is kept in top condition. The sloping yard allowed us to create a stunning infinity-edge pool, while the large evergreen plantings provide privacy and edge habitat. Our clients came to as they were about to seal the deal on their new home in Littleton, CO. The order of business was a full kitchen overhaul to create a space that would function for the young familyof four and add value to the home. Much of the home was in need of updating but the clients really wanted to focus their design efforts on the kitchen. They knew they wanted to get it right. The goal was transform the small closed off kitchen into a welcome light filled gathering space. We maximized the natural lighting by eliminating the dropped ceiling looming over the existing kitchen. The lofty ceiling and existing window gift the space a bright and airy feeling. We also opened up a large section of the wall separating the mudroom from the kitchen to provide a view outside and brought more light into the space. The large stainless steel farmhouse sink by Vigo sits under the new wall opening with a great view out the window just beyond. A large five and a half foot by ten foot island is home to a 36” gas range, pots and pan storage, a drawer microwave, vertical tray storage, a pull out pantry, two trash can centers for trash and recycling, and seating for five. We selected a medium gray for the walls (Sherwin-Williams Elephant Ear) to set of the linen white shaker cabinetry. Two large pendants provide over island lighting and add a touch of warmth with the basket weave shades. We transformed what was once a built-in desk area, into a large built-in pantry. A hammered silver pendant over the sink offers task lighting. Cup pulls and knobs from Amerock’s Rochdale collection complete the look.

Unassuming Storage building? Guess again. This gorgeous custom wine cellar, designed and built by wine cellar design experts, Vintage Cellars, shows that you can outfit virtually any space to be a one of a kind, perfect place for wine storage. Here in Laguna Beach, Orange County California, the temperatures stay pretty nice year round. Through the magic of wine cellar vapor barrier and insulation, the design build team at Vintage Cellars was able to properly prepare this outbuilding to store over 1700 collectible wines. Working closely with the client, we were able to understand that although display is nice - uncompromising long term storage was the overarching goal. Sweeping throughout the room above, individual bottle storage reigns to maximize bottle count. At about chest height, you can see two rows of angled high reveal display. Here, the homeowner placed his prized bottles - just a glimpse of what this incredible collection holds. Directly in the center of this medium sized wine room lies a small peninsula - a small section jetting out where larger format bottles are kept atop, as well as more space below in individual bottle storage. A small tabletop can be utilized to open wines or to let your favorites decant while you peruse the gems throughout. Below again is more individual bottle storage, sitting atop gorgeous Mediterranean style tile. Another unique feature of this wine cellar / wine room / wine storage space / wine closet / wine shed / wine vault / custom wine cellar / custom wine room / custom wood wine cellar / redwood wine cellar is the bridge across the top of the door. Once in place, closed cell expansion foam is used to ensure a seal is made between the box and the existing vapor barrier.

These custom thermally broken luxury doors were needed at this palatial rural home and Ledyard Homes selected Panda Windows and Doors to supply their thermally broken TS.19 in order for the future residents to fully enjoy their outdoor atmosphere from the comfort of their living space. While closed the thermal brake technology engineered into the TS.19 produces an air tight seal which enables the home to save energy and keep the great room interior space comfortable in both winter and summer and during harsh weather conditions. In addition to the energy and thermal benefits the doors also greatly reduce outdoor sound producing a serene environment inside the living space.

Starting with a multi-level, splintering old deck that didn’t transition well to the pool area - our goal was to great a more enjoyable and useable space where the homeowners can spend time relaxing & hosting poolside parties. We worked closely with the township to maximize the allowable impervious coverage for the property, which included reconfiguring all the landscaping to allow for more hardscaping. To say this backyard got a facelift is an understatement. Everything got some attention; from staining & sealing the concrete around the pool, tucking away the pool equipment, building an all new porch complete with gorgeous stonework & fireplace. Meeting the needs of the homeowners & surpassing their dreams is one of our favorite things, and with this design – that was exactly the case.

The ability to slide open patio doors creates a continuous flow of fresh air between the indoors and outdoors. I recommended an extremely durable, luxury vinyl floor by Shaw Floors. Shaw Floors are exceptionally long-lasting and easy to clean. They have a waterproof vinyl finish that is a great choice for high-traffic areas prone to splashes and spills. We choose the “Tivoli Plus” design, but there’s a wide range of hues and characteristics to choose from. We have found that Shaw Floors has a surface and accent design that is perfect for every home. Technically, these floors have an Armourbead® wear layer for enhanced performance and Soft Silence® acoustical pad for noise reduction and added comfort.
