Conceived more similar to a loft type space rather than a traditional single family home, the homeowner was seeking to challenge a normal arrangement of rooms in favor of spaces that are dynamic in all 3 dimensions, interact with the yard, and capture the movement of light and air. As an artist that explores the beauty of natural objects and scenes, she tasked us with creating a building that was not precious - one that explores the essence of its raw building materials and is not afraid of expressing them as finished. We designed opportunities for kinetic fixtures, many built by the homeowner, to allow flexibility and movement. The result is a building that compliments the casual artistic lifestyle of the occupant as part home, part work space, part gallery. The spaces are interactive, contemplative, and fun. After. A Dining Room no more! We removed the wall separating the Dining Area and Kitchen which created enough space for this gorgeous Kitchen with a large island and plenty of seating. Replacing the exterior window (and a double door) with two shorter picture windows allowed room for base cabinets along the left wall as well as the perfect location for the sink: overlooking the golf course! We were also able to add recessed lighting to the existing wooden ceiling. It is now a standalone design feature in its own right.

Imagine a chair you could really nestle into; that felt like you were sinking into a basket full of pillows. Well, it already exists, and it’s called the Womb Chair. Designed by mid-century mastermind Eero Saarinen to be just that—the Womb Chair mimics the cosseting of, well, a womb. Always given to experimentation, Saarinen wanted to investigate how comfort could be defined by the shape of a chair, and not necessarily by overstuffed cushioning—as in the case of most armchairs of the time. Taking his cues from fibreglass boat building, he decided to use a material previously unheard of. In a feat of remarkable engineering, the shell of this chair is in fibreglass, moulded over with foam, and flawlessly supported by splayed steel rod legs. The enveloping sculptural expression of the Womb Chair continues to be one of the most recognized representations of Saarinen’s legacy and the organic modernism movement.

Recycling Bin Pull-Out Storage for kitchen Cabinetry. The key to creating an authentic Craftsman-styled kitchen is by embracing those details that embody hand-craftsmanship and hand-joinery. As a response to mass production and abundance of cheaply made goods, the craftsman design movement achieved prominence in the early 19900’s and recognized value in the work of the craftsman and artisan. The handiwork of the cabinetmaker was idealized, and an appreciation for quality and craftsmanship was celebrated. Homes of this period were designed with an open, airy floor plan and a central hearth or gathering area. Woodwork and cabinetry became architectural focal points in warm, wood tones and joinery techniques were prominently featured. When our clients moved into their already built home they decided to live in it for a while before making any changes. Once they were settled they decided to hire us as their interior designers to renovate and redesign various spaces of their home. As they selected the spaces to be renovated they expressed a strong need for storage and customization. They allowed us to design every detail as well as oversee the entire construction process directing our team of skilled craftsmen. The client's business includes booking musicians and performance artists. Musicality can be expressed visually in movement in a custom window treatment, lyrical lines, and sometimes dramatic color contrast. Crystal finials on a Deco and Deco decorative pole in a black nickel finish paired beautifully with this elegant Moreland valance and tied back panel. The valance is lined and interlined, with a microwelt bottom edge in black. Tiebacks are from L.A. Fred Fabrics. The black lamp was found for her office in an antique store. Design by Linda H. This track home Master Bathroom was transformed by widening the shower and extending it to the new semi custom vanity. An updated shaker style vanity replaced the shorter, honey oak cabinet. A quartz counter and a backsplash with inset, rustic medicine cabinets finish the look.
