Bathroom Remodel/Renovation - Maynard MA Project: Designed and renovated a kitchen and a full bathroom. We framed a new larger opening leading from the kitchen into the dining room and installed a new support beam and leveled the floors. We updated the electrical panel by installing a 200-amp panel that included a 200-amp grounding system and whole house surge protector. Bathroom: Vanity is Waypoint 650F Painted Linen cabinets with Dominique Square Bar Pulls by Hardware Resources in Matte Black. The countertop is Cosmos Quartz Calacatta Sponda with a Kingston Brass Courtyard 18-1/4" rectangular ceramic undermount sink and a bathroom faucet by Pfister - Tenet 1.2 GPM Wall Mounted Widespread Bathroom Faucet. The accent wall is Parry Teal Blue 3x8 Fish scale glossy ceramic wall tile by Tilebar. The mirror is Caskill 24 x 36 arch MDF framed black mirror by Kate and Laurel. The accessories for the bathroom are all by Symmons Dia a Towel Bar, Robe Hook, Towel Ring, and Toilet Paper Holder installed. Lights installed are Rod LED Sconces in Dark Bronze by West Elm. The toilet installed is an Eco UltraMax by TOTO. Custom tiled shower and flooring: The walls are a subway tile in 4x12 white glossy by MSI. The shower floor is Meadowmere Black Hexagon 3" matte ceramic hexagon tile by Tilebar. We installed a corner seat and three corner shelves as well as a threshold by Best Tile. Shower fixtures are by Symmons a Dia pressure balanced shower system with shower head, hand shower, slide bar and hose. The shower door is a DreamLine Enigma Air 56" - 60" W x 76" H frameless sliding shower door. We finished the bathroom off with Level White 1" Hexagon matte porcelain mosaic tile by Tilebar.

The old stairway was completely removed in order to fit the new system into place. A total redesign using a single steel spine to support the solid hardwood treads. The floating treads support the stainless rods which in turn hold the glass panels in place. It's all capped off by a 2" round hardwood handrail. A truly elegant design, wouldn't you agree?

Our architectural strategy required a continuous first floor (10ft) and the home remained aligned with the existing circle driveway. The rustic metal roof front entrance porch (gas lanterns) leads into a massive 2 story center hall (home of a large, centered gathering table) to a large centered outdoor back yard courtyard (kitchen to the right and sports bar to the left) which centers on the new swimming pool and wide outdoor stairs of the retaining wall required for the extensive stormwater management system. That establishes the center of the home stretching over 100 ft from the front step to the back yard stairs flanked by 2 fire features highlighting the pool. The locations of other rooms listed below are to the right and left of this centered home line. Kitchen, kitchen fireplace, pantry, and guest suite are to the right. Entrance to the finished basement theater room are to the right along with a bar to support events in the center hall. To the left of the center 2 story hall are the exercise room with sauna (with glass garage type door to the front porch), sport bar with theater and see through fireplace, game room, mudroom, laundry, 4 car conditioned garage, and pool changing rooms. From the centered 2 story hall to the right is the glass stairwell and curved stairs made of white oak and wrought iron. These beautiful stairs lead to the library balcony overlooking the massive center hall and large gathering dining table. From the right of the balcony are the primary suite with a private 2nd floor porch and a bedroom suite. From the left of the balcony are 2 more suites with a laundry room, kitchenette, and a large EZ Breeze, closed in porch that overlooks the pool and provides coverage over the pool patio next to the see through fireplace in the sports bar theater room. The exterior is James Hardie fibercement and limestone veneer. Fascia and frieze boards are capped with heavy roof metal materials. The front porch roof is standing metal seam and columns and ceiling are rustic, reclaimed wood.

Complete Hillside Backyard Renovation, El Paso – by GoDesigns This breathtaking backyard transformation in the historic area of El Paso, Texas, is a shining example of GoDesigns’ vision, expertise, and resilience. Situated on a challenging hillside property, the original backyard installed in 2005 was plagued by critical design flaws that led to a complete failure of the outdoor space. The existing negative edge pool, improperly installed with insufficient grade, drainage, and support, caused massive water loss and structural issues. The consequences were severe — the side rock wall broke in half, the backyard destabilized, and even a portion of the house was compromised. GoDesigns was brought in to turn crisis into opportunity. During the height of COVID-19, they launched Phase 1 of a multi-phase master plan to restore and reinvent the space. The entire backyard was demolished, including the compromised pool shell. The broken negative edge section was filled in, making way for a reimagined pool design. A new, reinforced pool structure was shot, finished with 5cm tumbled travertine coping, oversized mossrock boulders, new waterline tile, and a premium PebbleTec interior. Beneath the beauty lies smart engineering: GoDesigns replaced all plumbing and regraded the property, applying subsurface remediation and compaction techniques to ensure long-term stability. A new rocksalt steel reinforced concrete deck was poured, replacing the narrow wraparound layout with a spacious, functional outdoor living area. Now, the family enjoys ample room for chaise lounges, alfresco dining, and relaxing by the existing outdoor fireplace — luxuries they never had before. GoDesigns didn’t stop there. Advanced drainage systems — including underground piping, box drains, and planter drains — were installed to protect the integrity of the hillside. Take a peek at our 2022 project for Edgehill Music Publishing, located in the heart of Nashville’s 12th South district. This 2,500 sq. ft. commercial facility was meticulously designed to accommodate up to seven writers’ rooms and production suites—each capable of operating simultaneously without interruption, with four of the rooms built for mixing capabilities. With seamless audio integration throughout, the space ensures intuitive connectivity no matter where you are on the property. The aesthetic palette, paired with a loud and quirky speakeasy vibe, creates a fun atmosphere that reflects the owners’ personalities. The result is not just a studio that feels effortless—it’s an inspiring environment where writing, mixing, and production can happen with minimal sound transmission. Behind the walls, the architectural acoustics are second to none. The design emphasizes a true “plug-and-play” workflow: each control room, both isolation booths, and all common areas are acoustically isolated with extraordinary attention to detail. Each suite is equipped with dedicated, silent 1:1 HVAC systems. Eight independent floating-floor systems support the suites, while tailored sound-reducing wall assemblies and intentional treatments in the main suites deliver clarity and precision for mixing. CONTACT These home owners initially contacted their Designer to identify the reason that the floor in their upstairs bedroom suffered from a noticeable slant. The floor problem actually impacted a small bathroom and adjoining study also. Early on, the decision was made to re-design the footprint for the 3 rooms in conjunction with repairing the uneven floor. The approach was to gut all three spaces of walls and floors and start from scratch. The new spaces were designed with the clients needs for accessibility in mind. DESIGN The design effort included identifying the products to be used throughout the spaces. This included everything from the flooring to the wall paint. Kohler plumbing fixtures and Adelphi cabinetry were decided on first. A radiant heat grid was included for the bathroom floor. Lighting, paint and tile soon followed. Wood flooring was installed throughout the adjoining spaces. The master bedroom was redesigned to allow for entry from the study or the master bath via pocket doors. The study was given an access to the master bath also. The hardwood flooring ties the bedroom and study together and gives each room a very spacious feel. The original master bedroom was changed to incorporate a large walk-in closet that features custom storage throughout. The study that also doubles as the IT center for the home was updated with custom book cases and cabinetry from Adelphi Cabinets. When discussing the reapportioning of the entire space for the individual rooms the bathroom was given priority. The previous small bathroom did not include a window for natural light. The new design corrected that in a big way by incorporating an existing bedroom window into the new space. The decision was made early on to allow for the inclusion of a large shower with full granite walls and custom plate glass surround. The shower system includes both fixed and hand held shower heads. A thermostatic control system was included to eliminate scalding. A large bench seat of matching granite allows for relaxing while getting squeaky clean. A separate air massage tub from Kohler centered under the new windows allows for a relaxed moment while being caressed by all those tiny bubbles. His and her side by side vanity sinks allows for efficient use of the space. The Caxton sinks and coordinated toilet were selected to match the color of the tub and do so beautifully! CONSTRUCTION We started the project not knowing what we were going to find. The slanting floor upstairs was not evident in the ceiling of the first floor Once the demolition had been completed it was evident that the floor joists were at the heart of the problem. The home had been framed with floor joists that had been strung together to increase their length. Over time and with the house settling, the strung together joists started to droop from their connection point. This was concealed on the first floor by a large HVAC duct running through the garage. This was corrected by the addition of two laminated beams in the ceiling of the first floor (luckily in the garage) that re-supported the offending joists. THE END The project was a huge success in terms of problem solving and designing with budget and time frame in mind. The overall impact of the new space is impressive both visually and from a practicality point of view. The new master suite with upscale bathroom and study adds significant value to the home and the home owners quality of life!

What does a roof deck look like when every part of the roof, even areas deemed uninhabitable and structurally weak, is utilized and optimized? This large midcentury home on the edge of Presidio National Park in San Francisco had an incredible location and views. But the original roof deck suffered from poor design detailing that had rendered it a leaking, deteriorating mess. Even worse, the previous owner had covered three roof areas surrounding the deck with river stones, structurally overloading the building and endangering its occupants. We removed the river stones and everything else down to the framing. An expertly detailed drainage and waterproofing system underlies everything above. The deck and access stairs are surfaced with durable and refined porcelain pavers. The guardrail is made from custom stainless steel supports with clear, low-iron, laminated glass spanning between for an unobstructed view. Heated seats make watching the chilly fog roll in through the gate comfy. Planting and greenery surround the deck. The type varies depending on structural conditions- a deep planter sits on top of a structural wall, sedums in shallow soil occupy the strong edges of the surrounding rooftops, and faux grass turf fills out the middle in areas that can’t support the weight of wet soil.

We designed and built this 600sqft 1br/1ba back house for this adventurous South Austin couple. They are able to use the space as a home office/studio and guest house for friends and family. Shed roof, light colors and picture windows makes the space feels comfortable and spacious.

This beautiful historic-inspired outbuilding serves as a Wood Shop and is built on a property with a Designated Historic Resource that is considered to be contributing to the Historic neighborhood it resides in. The homeowner has a passion for woodworking as well as frequently volunteers for Benton County Habitat for Humanity, and approached us to build him a bigger wood shop in order to expand from his small garage to grow his hobby and continue to serve the community. To preserve Corvallis' Historic Neighborhood charm and build a structure that beautified the backyard landscaping, the wood shop was brilliantly designed to support the architecture of the main house, which is a Historic-Contributing Designated Historic Resource. This shop features a symmetrical design, a semi-steep gabled roof, oversailing (jetting), 6/6 sash grid windows with green shutters, and white horizontal lap siding to accompany the Historic Colonial Revival main house, and includes attributes such as a garage door with a ramp from the ground, solar panels, a large metal beam for a trolley system to transport materials, and a dust collection system to create a Wood Shop that is functional for the homeowner's needs but also has the ability to be used in many different ways in the future!
