Built in library shelves provide separation and a chance to show off our client's admirable collection. Having removed the original wall separating the living and kitchen spaces, we chose to install the exposed and beautifully stained beam, which helps to maintain some divide between the two rooms. The sink area of the kitchen. This is the main work area of the kitchen. Its easy to clean and large. Many times clients worry about where to put their toaster ovens or toasters. Why on the counter! Why not!? This is a kitchen people cook in. It is not a show case kitchen no one ever uses. Where the original cabinets worked well for over 70 years we expect our modern casual remake of the original to last as long. It should only get better with age.

This large kitchen was desperately needing a refresh. It was far to traditional for the homeowners taste. Additionally, there was no direct path to the dining room as you needed to enter through a butlers pantry. I opened up two doorways into the kitchen from the dining room, which allowed natural light to flow in. The former butlers pantry was then sealed up and became part of the formerly to small pantry. The homeowners now have a 13' long walk through pantry, accessible from both the new bar area and the kitchen.

Inspiration for a coastal home design remodel in San Francisco

The main oven is in a stack with the warming drawer and microwave. To the right of the main oven is an appliance garage that hides a separate Miele steam oven and toaster oven. The double 30" fridge columns are hidden behind panels so there isn't a seven foot wide 'wall' of stainless.
