A hip young family moving from Boston tackled an enormous makeover of an antique colonial revival home in downtown Larchmont. The kitchen area was quite spacious but benefitted from a small bump out for a banquette and additional windows. Navy blue island and tall cabinetry matched to Benjamin Moore’s Van Deusen blue is balanced by crisp white (Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly Lace) cabinetry on the perimeter. The mid-century inspired suspended fireplace adds warmth and style to the kitchen. A tile covered range hood blends the ventilation into the walls. Brushed brass hardware by Lewis Dolan in a contemporary T-bar shape offer clean lines in a warm metallic tone. The waterfall island counter in Cambria Brittanica is stunning. The island’s second tier in Ellipse Stone brings in an industrial element. We also lightened the cabinets combining Eclipse frameless cabinets in Natural Elm on the lowers with polar white finish upper cabinets. The backsplash on the range oven allowed us to add a bit of color, incorporating a herringbone pattern and using Mews by Mutina in lead color.

The original kitchen was dark and lacked storage space. It was cut off from the rest of the house and needed an update. We removed the wall between the dining room and kitchen and bumped the kitchen out in the rear of the house. We created lots of storage, a new island with seating and added windows bringing in much needed natural light. The kitchen is now a hub of activity for the whole family.

The wall of maple cabinet storage is from Wellborn, New Haven style in Bleu finish. Each grandchild gets their own section of storage. The bench seating (with more storage below!) has a Formica Flax Gauze top in Glacier Java. It also serves as a sep for smaller children to reach the upper storage shelves. Beauty in the Details Project Details Designer: Amy Van Wie Cabinetry: Brookhaven I – Frameless Cabinetry Wood: Maple Finishes: Antique White on Perimeter; Distressed Black Espresso Glaze on Island Door: Perimeter – Edgemont Recessed; Island – Edgemont Raised Countertop: Grey Soapstone Awards 2013 Parade of Homes, Pinnacle Homes-Best Kitchen 2013 NKBA Tri-State Award Columbia Cabinets designed the cabinetry for this stunning home that was featured in the 2013 Parade of Homes and is a multi-award design winner. After the initial meet with the clients and Witt Construction, I began to think about how the space could work. The cabinets were crafted with Edgemont Recessed doors in maple with an antique white finish…a perfect selection for the kitchen’s traditional/coastal design. For countertop, I suggested modern grey soapstone. With a nod to today’s popular trend to mix and match finishes, the island was completed in a black espresso glaze distressed finish with maple Edgemont Raised doors. What really distinguishes this project is the attention to the details. Along the refrigerator wall, the shelf area has lowered seeded mullion glass cabinets and a valance. This created an airy, open look within the space. The bead board accents and corbels throughout the kitchen complete the design.

Santa Cecelia granite countertops beautifully matched the bright white Plato Prelude kitchen cabinets in this Racine home. A 36" GE Monogram 5 burner gas cooktop provided a large cooking area with proper ventilation from Vent-a-hood. GE Monogram Top Control dishwasher blended in with a stainless steel finish. For the kitchen sink, a ProFlo undermount double bowl stainless steel model was used with a Delta Leland pull-out single lever kitchen faucet in Arctic steel. To compliment, an InSinkErator Pro Compact 3/4 hp model handles the disposal. New Brazilian cherry hardwood flooring adds the proper contrast needed while providing a very clean look.

A former kitchen with a staggered sight line, tiled countertop, and brass trim gains a fresh perspective with small updates. The cabinetry was in excellent shape, so the kitchen was largely re-purposed with all the original cabinetry intact and the same footprint used. The wish list included extra storage and with a vaulted ceiling, the obvious choice was to gain additional storage in height. As the original cabinets were no longer being manufactured, glass front uppers were chosen and painted to match. With the addition of new side panels and crown moulding, the new uppers cabinets blend seamlessly in place. The pantry walls were also painted to match the cabinetry to give it the appearance of a built-in. New countertops in black Caesarstone, marble backsplash, Blanco sink, brushed nickel knobs, and kitchen faucet gives this kitchen a fresh updated look! Photo Credit: Zoon Media

This modern kitchen design is a sleek, stylish space that is sure to be the center of attention in this Gainesville home. Eclipse by Shiloh slab white perimeter cabinets give the kitchen a sleek appearance, and include acrylic inserts in the upper cabinets. The kitchen island is in a contrasting dark wood tone, beautifully complemented by a white and gray Caesarstone double waterfall countertop that extends out to create a seating area with barstools. The island incorporates a large Galley Workstation with two single lever Galley Taps. The Galley has graphite accessories and a walnut chopping block. A countertop knife block and Dacor induction cooktop are conveniently adjacent to the Galley. It's the perfect place to prepare food while family and friends sit across from you at the island. A second wash sink is situated along the perimeter with a pull-down spray faucet. A set of Subzero freezer drawers as well as a 30” Dacor Refrigerator Column are neatly tucked away behind cabinet panels. The design also includes a separate beverage station with a Subzero undercounter beverage refrigerator and a coffee station, that can be closed off by a pull down cabinet door when not in use. The bright, airy atmosphere in this kitchen design carries through in the white marble backsplash and open shelves above the perimeter sink. The entire design is finished off with a gray porcelain tile floor that beautifully pulls together the entire design.
