We retained Kevin as our architect for a 3rd home we plan to build in Tucson, Arizona in the gated community of Sabino Springs Estates. While we reviewed the built works of several very capable architects located in Tucson, we selected Kevin because of his versatility in design. Having been in the product design and marketing business for the past 45 years, I have worked with many designers over the years and I have found Kevin Howard to be, not only an incredible talent but a pleasure to work with. He has the unique ability to interpret exactly what my wife and I wanted and execute a finished design product that goes beyond what we had thought possible. He is very easy to work with as he is more than willing to take your ideas and apply them to the design in a way which does not compromise the aesthetic of the architecture/structure. As you can see by the attached computer generated images, we were not looking for the typical, south west architecture but rather a site specific structure with a minimalist approach to design. In addition to architectural design services, Kevin’s firm has an impressive interior/kitchen design depart than has been recently enhanced by becoming a Poliform representative with an onsite showroom. Poliform is one of the world’s finest design firms specializing in kitchen, bath and closet cabinetry. We are currently in the interior finish and engineering phase of this project and looking forward to breaking ground in the near future. If you need an architect, call Karen! There is no need to look any further! Around 5 years ago I initially hired her to do renovations on my 1946 home. She did such a fantastic job that I have asked for her help on numerous additional projects since then - most recently this month. I never really know what I want; but she always extracts exactly the right information from me and comes up with a perfect solution. The changes to my home have been perfect. The additions look like they must have been there when the home was originally built.

We had an extensive remodel done on our house by Tom and could not have been happier with the end result. Most of the work was done while we were out of town and we had complete trust in him and his subcontractors. He gave us a time line and stuck with it. He was always very honest about what he thought of our choices for the house and he himself was great at helping us on design for the house. He and his crew did such a great job that when it came time to do the walk thru at the end it was really hard for us to find anything that needed fixed or needed more attention. If you are looking for someone who is completely trustworthy and the ultimate professional in all he does then he is your man. There was never a time that he would not return calls and we received an update and pictures on a daily basis. In January 2017, I commenced building my dream home. I should mention at the outset that this was the first time I had ever undertaken a project of this magnitude. The one thing however that I did have going for me, was the fact that I had spent over 30 years envisioning what I wanted my dream home to be, so when it came time to start the project, I had a very clear idea of what I wanted. That’s the good news. Unfortunately, as the project got started, it became very clear, that although I had invested all of my time in defining what I wanted my dream home to look like, I had not spent any time thinking about how I was going to get it built. When I decided to go forward with this project, friends who had experience in this area, all told me the same thing – “get ready for the worst two years of your life”! I am now moved into my home and I can honestly say that the finished product is even better than what I had hoped for, and more importantly, I thoroughly enjoyed the entire experience. Why was that the case? The answer to that question is simple – Shawn Hunter. I can’t believe how fortunate I was to have chosen Shawn to coordinate my home building experience. Looking back, I now realize that finding champion builder was probably the most important decision to be made in the entire process. Why? "Since 1994 I have been living in the house that Paul designed and built for me. Each year I have been here has brought a growing happiness being on this land and within the walls of this dwelling. At this juncture the feeling I experience is that this house and I belong together. It also brings to mind the beginnings of this place. Before I met Paul I had a vision of what I wanted. This was not a vision I could easily articulate nor was it one I had any sense about how to manifest. The first step was finding an architect whose skills could help with this process. The magic, good fortune, luck, or simply just what happened is that I got out of the way and allowed the right person to arrive. It is with great gratitude that this person was Paul. Desert Earth and Wood recently completed a remodel of one of the apartments in my duplex and they did such a great job that I’m for sure going to have them do the other unit, and the outside. The project went very smoothly and finished in time and very close to the estimate! Which was great considering the age and the shape that the apartment was in. Also, the crew worked hard, and were very skilled, polite, and professional. It came out beautifully, and my friend who is a property manager told me that I will have no trouble renting it! We couldn’t be happier with our new casita. Jake achieved a design and built a home for us under 900 square feet that doesn’t feel cramped, includes all our “wants,” and looks beautiful. Jake overcame many challenges during the planning and construction: attaining HOA and county permits to attach the home to our daughter’s house, communicating with us who live 2200 miles away, and dealing endlessly with our changing requests, additions, and deletions well into the construction phase! Throughout, Jake has maintained a most professional bearing. He is ever patient, understanding and accommodating. He is interested only in designing and building the house that the client wants, not one he thinks the client should want! We really appreciate how he listened to our requests and seemingly did the impossible to fulfill them. Jake is truly client-focused. Jake has been an outstanding general manager of the subcontractors. We especially appreciated how he worked with the painters to achieve the look we wanted, going beyond the norm to guarantee we were happy. We also felt Jake knew the best contractors to pick for our project. We did not want to spend over $225,000 for the house, but didn’t want to settle for “builder’s grade” materials either. We were able to achieve both. The kitchen cabinets, for instance, were considered a step up from basic, but are absolutely stunning. They look like hickory, but are white oak. When we decided to have Jake build the house after seeing his plans, he was able to draft a bid that fit our budget by allowing us to handle some of the purchasing and shaving his profit. Sometimes this caused problems for him, as we had some plumbing items shipped out there that were incompatible. Jake quickly identified the problem and waited patiently while I arranged for a new shipment. He also had to pick up some materials at a local store for us. We couldn’t believe just how involved Jake was with the day-to-day building. One night, Jake face-timed us from the casita as he was fine-tuning something so that a contractor could start work the next day. He wanted to make certain that a piece of furniture we had shipped out there was properly aligned with a pony wall that would join it with a cabinet to form an island. Jake is not one to casually say or think that something will be “fine.” He makes certain that measurements are exact and that the the final result meets the client’s expectations. We are so thankful that we hired Jake for both the design and the building of our casita. He thought of elements we didn’t even know we wanted. He designed the garage which attaches to our daughter’s house to utilize an otherwise overlooked and possibly troublesome area to create a huge storage space. His electrical contractor added distinctive features that truly elevate the design. Bill Taylor provided design and build services. Bill and Steve Austin were excellent to work with. Their combined experience resulted in an attractive and functional addition to our master suite. We would most definitely work with them again.

Wally and his crew did a very good job converting our driveway from cement to 12 inch pavers. The installer of the pavers was especially good. I would recommend Wally and his crew.

Great builders! Eric and his crew did an incredible job! Their standards are very high and they have a great eye for detail. The process was a very positive experience and surprisingly enjoyable considering we had a large addition, some remodeling and an entire and amazing outdoor area. We would definitely recommend their services to a friend or family member.
