Help! Insinkrator Sink Top Air Switch too short

This is a problem! We hade the countertop installed yesterday, and the hole cut on it for the sinktop air switch. The body of it is too short so you cannot tighten its position from under the countertop. What can I do? Is is safe just to leave it loose?

HELP Please! Thank you!

Could you share what brand of airswitch you were able to get? I have the same exact problem

Who installed the insinkerator? Have you contacted the manufacturer?

My plumber did. I called the manufacture, and they say they only have this one length. The countertop and my Blanco sink (silgranite) thickness add together makes the screw of the switch impossible to be screwed.

Try looking at the specs for a different brand of garbage disposer.

Drill a larger hole from the underside of the counter to create a depth that will work for the item in question.

Thank you very much for your good suggestion. My contractor found another brand for me which has a longer body for the air switch. It is pricy (as it is made of brass, not plastic like insinkerator), but that seems to be the best solution now.

HI -- I have the switch for mine in the cabinet under the sink . Much safer there .... out of sight out of mind .... because of the kids .

Just put in a new sink and disposal at a rental home we were renovating. It says right on the sink it is insinkerator compatable. I guess since this post is a few years old, they have remedied the problem.

Nope just bought mine. It has to go through the granite and then also the sink lip/flange. If just granite it would be no issue.
