I'm not a huge fan of the asymmetry of the legs, but the price, size and finish are right.

Or something with wood and metal would also be pretty... I agree that the room needs to be "lightened up." The rustic farmhouse look is great but I think it may be too heavy looking and won't go with the rest of the place.

Drapes hung on the OUTSIDE of the window will make your window look bigger, and if you get nice tall drapes (as tall as possible) your ceilings will feel taller and therefore your room will feel bigger. Clients actually GASP when we drapes, saying things like "Oh I had no idea it would make the room look so much bigger!!"

Wall paint will make a huge impact as well so feel good about it - there is an end in sight! The ideas you have for furniture styles look like a fun mix! I often tell people it's great if you can be patient and find bargains at outlets and sales (for furniture). It's nice if you don't put too much pressure on yourself to have it all done by a certain date. If you spend less than you planned on the furniture you'll have left over money for drapes, art, or a chandelier. With a rectangular table, you can seat ten people at an 8'-9' long table and eight at a 7' table. You need a minimum of 42" between the table and walls or furniture on the walls for circulation, 24" of which will be used for chair scoot and sit space. If your room measures 156" x 129" your max table, with nothing taking up wall space, and the buffet recessed off the basic room measurements, you can use a 72" x 45" table. There is a new line to us from Guildmaster who manufactures a lot of wood and reclaimed wood furniture. Not sure if this harvest table works. It's 78" x 38" and it's under $1000

The reclaimed one is larger at 96" and gorgeous but pricey:

Check World Market

We recently purchased the Monarch table from Crate and Barrel and I adore it! Rustic yet elegant. They have it in 76" (for $2,000) and 108" for $2,500. Here is a link. http://www.crateandbarrel.com/monarch-76-dining-table/s212555

And here is a picture in my home. We have the 108" size. Only three chairs in the pic but I now have six, and it fits a lot more.

Sorry, I'm afraid neither of the sizes of the Monarch table will work for you. They need to mane a 90" intermediate size! But check out Crate and Barrel's website because they Jane other tables that might work for you. And their customer service is excellent, so they will move heaven and earth to get it delivered on time if at all possible.

Well, that was a whirlwind!! To make a long story short, we didn't get finished with the room prior to our guests arriving. We did get the chairs and finally found a table, but the rest will have to wait until everyone leaves! I'll post a pic of the table...

Next steps:
1. Remove those old sconces
2. Paint
3. Hang drapes
4. Purchase rug for under table

The table is a floor sample from Scandinavian Designs. It is made of imperfect solid slabs of wood, which fit the rustic criteria. We can sit 8 at the table very comfortably, and could perhaps squeeze in 10. I was able to negotiate the table down to $1000, which was very well within our budget.

Love the table! Very similar style to the one I got at Crate & Barrel.

Thank you! I like the table even better than I thought I would. It's much more in scale with the light fixture we installed. :) Our guests left early this morning, so now it's on to the rest of the room!

Today, draperies are on my mind. We have exactly zero draperies in our home. I am in need of suggestions. Questions:
1. What would you think of covering the entire wall on both sides of the window with ceiling to floor draperies? Would that be too much?
2. I want something ready made. Suggestions?
3. What type of drapery rod can span that distance? The wall is 158" x 96".

That's a hard one. Longer rods are hard to find unless you don't mind support brackets along the length of them. Are you tired of the plantations or are you still keeping them?

I'm tired of them AND keeping them...(sigh)

So, I know this:
- the red wall will be painted a neutral color (same warmish beige as other walls)
- I am considering filling the wall with draperies on either side of the window with shutters (which stay for now)

The room reads overly warm for our style. I think we need to cool it down a bit. What color/style/finish of draperies would you suggest?

Suggest LINEN draperies, hung outside the window, and as tall as possible, in ivory or oatmeal. Great looking table! And yes, painting the walls will really transform the room!

Go to Penneys Drapery department with wall color paint stick and talk to their drapery experts. They have more sizes than what is shown online that are not custom.

Try looking at Ikea.com. They have very reasonable and large sizes for drapes & great rod & hanging hardware. Even from wires on the ceilings. I don't think they should be pooled on the floor, though.

I wouldn't get drapes (or at least wait until everything else is done to pick window coverings). Definitely paint but I would choose something different than the living room wall color (light blue or green) unless it's one continuous space.

Good idea.

I would use the same paint color you use in the living room to provide continuity. The spaces are too open to each other to change color. Given the Eames chairs you have chosen, (those are GREAT) I would use some really tailored drapery panels over the shutters in a mid-century modern print for fun as well as to bring in some color and personality! Your lighting is so fun it should be reflected on the fabric you choose.

I like the room a lot! The ambiance is very nice especially for a party. It looks like you have a lot on the table though so I would suggest adding one or two small side table to make it look less cluttered. Have fun at your party!
