My cabinets are a bit lighter than the ones you show and I went with black iron hardware. It actually has a softer look than the pure black (its like a dark charcoal tone).

What type of faucet and sink are you getting? If ORB, you might want to tie into the faucet with ORB hardware.

I think hardware is a very personalized decision and its one of the easiest (and least expensive) things in the kitchen to change, so don't be so concerned with resale. Get what you like best.

I like the look of ORB on darker cabinets. Several months ago someone posted a similar (or possibly the same) photo and many people were surprised by how much they liked it.

I'm not so sure about black. I would make sure I liked it on the cabinets first before I tried to match it to other elements of the house.

I love the look of dilly's black iron hardware, esp. against the brown. I wouldn't worry too much about resale value, since it's one of the easiest elements of a kitchen to change.

My cabinets are dark, way darker than the ones you posted, and I have flat black hardware from Top Knobs. I LOVE it.
My cabinets are dark walnut and my island is painted a dusky green grey called BM Providence Olive. I knew I wanted the same color hardware on both. My cabinetmaker and friends were initially surprised by my choice, but everyone agrees now that it is perfect. Please pardon the missing knob on the hutch and the unpainted powerstrip, we are not really done yet.

I think you can use black hardware on just about anything. Looks beautiful on your cabs. I don't think you can go wrong with either ORB or black. Love your cabinet color BTW.

Here is a link that might be useful: oil rubbed bronze hardware on darker cabinets?

I had exactly the same issue. As the previous posters suggested, either would be great. Just continue looking at knobs and when you find two or three top contenders, buy a couple of samples of each (ie knobs and pulls) and try them up against your cabinets. I used that earthquake clay you put on the bottom of vases etc to stick to doors and took pics and then posted on GW, this is the one that won the vote...ORB from Lee Valley.

THanks all! That link is actually to my post haha! I thought I was all set on the ORB but then saw some pix with black and thought ooohhh...
But since someone brought up the faucet, my faucet IS orb so maybe that is weird to have with black hardware. Hmm.

I have ORB faucets and ORB patina'ed sink so went with ORB pulls/handles as well. They basically look black with just a hint of a copper color coming through.
I spray painted my existing lighting fixtures to match the ORB as well.
