I assume you need coverings for privacy? I would use a simple window film that maintains your privacy but still allows the light to come through.

Just some examples of professionally installed privacy films that will still let in plenty of light.

I do agree that the windows may look a bit better if the trim was painted white. Since this is a bathroom I would suggest to keep aluminum or faux wood blinds- these items are not susceptible to moisture, so they would be perfect.

hey nnigrt, love you idea about putting tape on the casing but I forgot to let you know the door, cabinets and a sidelight in the bathroom are also oak.

if I were to paint the window casing do I not have to do the door, cabinets and sidelight also.

i'd be good with painting the window trim and leaving the rest in this circumstance.

Thank you ever so much for your great suggestions love both ideas, painting them white and love the plantation shutters. In fact we were just at Home Depot this evening and I showed my husband the plantation shutters. Mentioned to him this is what I would like for our windows....he turned them up stating people could see in. I should of told him no one would be looking in at people our age, 55 and older lol. Men can just be such a pain.

Our house is a two story and this bathroom is above the front garage.

what is it with men and wood? its quite remarkable. my husband is extremely evolved and he still went ballistic over the idea of painting a bookcase.

I agree with you about letting the light shine in, but we are in a crescent with two or one and a half storey homes. Yes when you drive in to the crescent and our neighbours have their blinders open you can see in especially if they are in front of the sink. Our house in the same as the one with the blue garage door with the big tree in front. These are taken from our bathroom window.

Im wanting to have a softer look in this master bath, would curtains...a light coloured valance do the trick. Not sure, open to any suggestions.

:) I repeat my suggestion for a real test. Now I understand if you want the inside of the room to look different. If so, I'd paint the trim, or buy blinds that mount outside to cover the trim your hubby doesn't want you to paint.
