I'm down to four words left for bingo!

Margo that makes you a winner of the game....four is our lucky number representing the 4TH OF JULY. CONGRATULATIONS

    Congratulations Margo.

Beautiful Westbourne bloom. I love that color. I think I have a Crinum Milk and Wine from one of our local swaps, but can't be sure until it blooms. It was just labeled pink and white stripe.

Got an awesome card and flags from Beth yesterday. Love it.

Beth good job on your card...everyone has such talent.

I am wore out running in and out dodging the rain showers. Terrible lightning and winds and then rain. I'm giving up for the day, maybe can do more tomorrow.

Cutest story to share with you ladies.

Eddie and I stopped at a gas station to buy gas so I go in with the money while he is pumping gas. I picked up a local magazine for Clayton and began reading some stories. A lady wrote about her entire family camping together each year and how it had become a tradition. She said one of the Mom's was changing her little toddler boy and there he stood in his birthday suit. His little Sister came up just then and was checking him out and she said "Gosh he's got a tail." I got so tickled I laughed all the way back to the truck. Dearly love kids.

    BINGO word for Tuesday:

    Americans

Shirley, too funny. Out of the mouths of babes.

I feel for you dodging the rain showers also. It has been raining at some point during the day for the last week. We had t-storms blow through and of course it held off til I got just to my driveway while coming back from Cincinnati. I have lost a pincushion because it just couldn't take all the rain. The extremely high temps will be back the end of the week and I will probably be begging for rain.

If anyone has a Menard's by them. Be sure to check out their plants. I got several there yesterday for 2.99 and perennials at that. A red tall bee balm, coreopsis "nana", a pink pow wow coneflower, and a coral bells, (Dale's strain). I also picked up a small catsmint for 1.50 and well a hibiscus for 3.00. I was like a kid in a candy store. I don't even want to total up how much I have put into our gardens here but it sure pays off. I love how they are turning out.

Only three more words to go to Bingo but I am sure most people are close.

    BINGO words for Wednesday:

    13 Colonies

    Historic

Margo-Sure wish we had a Menard's, great deals on your plants. I do go to Loganville, Ga. yearly to a place called Grower's Outlet and they have excellent prices. The more you buy the cheaper the prices are. Last year I bought all colors of hanging geranium baskets for $5.00 each. The pot and potting soil would cost that not counting the geraniums.

Shirley, I have spent a bit of money this summer setting up the gardens that were here. There wasn't much growing in them due to neglect. A local greenhouse is advertising that they are having a clearance sale starting this Friday. I just bought 3 plants from them the other day. I need to stay away yet I know I will go. LOL The big problem we are having is so much rain. It rains every day and it just down poured twice in the past half an hour. Not sure how much the plants can take. The ground does have a lot of clay. I would hate to lose all I have put in.

I checked the weather for the next week and there is a chance of storms almost every day.

Margo, a big thanks for the bright sparkly card! It is hanging over my desk for now, but I hope to find a location where It can spin and show off a bit.

Margo also sent Red white and blue seeds, Red strawberries, white, Little Princess cosmos and blue Indigo. Plan to try starting the cosmos now even though it is hot and late in the season. The others I'll save for later.

Weather is strange all over by the sounds of the reports. Heavy rains all around us but they passed us by. Farmers and ranchers are worried about shortage of hay. The fires out west and the wind/rain in the east.........either too much or too little everywhere.

Meanwhile, I have blueberry envy. I love them and miss the days in Kodiak ( and in PA) when I could go out and pick all I wanted. All I have now is the Indigo blueberry tomatoes to look forward too. Looks like there will be LOTS to pick but no pies or jam from these little cuties.

starting to show color but far from being ripe

Beth, I hope the confetti didn't make a big mess. Lol

i enjoyed putting the card together. I hope you enjoy the holiday.

We're not going down to the area near the barn much any more now that our horses get boarded. The area near the barn is where the blueberries are planted. They are getting quite overgrown by vines and sweet gum trees, etc. but I did walk down there yesterday in case I could see some blueberries. 3 years in a row now without any! I do plan to try to clean that area the best that I can in the fall so maybe we will get some next year. Late frosts are the likely culprits, but I did see some green ones down there a few months ago, but no sign of them now. Maybe the deer?

Beth, I grew those indigo blueberry tomatoes last year and they did well for me. I don't think I replanted any for this year. No tomatoes to pick yet, but there should be some soon. My summer squash and cucumbers are all lagging. I think it was too hot and dry for them, but perhaps they'll produce later.

I'm hostess for the July swap and will try to post it before Monday. I'm going to have a tooth worked on for a crown on Monday so I'm not sure I'll be very busy with posting the first few days after that. I hope everyone has a Happy 4th of July!

    Jeanne

I'm one of the weird gardeners that unless it's a red tomato, I won't eat it. I can't tell you why but the yellows, blacks, blues etc. just don't seem right. lol I know I should try them first but I just can't. They are pretty though.

I have not had the chance to try an unusual colored tomato. But if I did I would.

Margo-Same here it has rained every day for a week now and I was so disappointed today. I and another Friend decided to visit a daylily farm 3 1/2 hours away. We headed out at 7:45 this morning and hit rain after only 1 hour of driving. We continued hoping it would let up soon. The farther we went the more it rained. After 1 hour from the daylily farm I called them and the lady said to come on it was not raining there and the rain was East of them. Another 30 minutes and the lady calls me and said bad storms were moving in and not a good idea to continue. We turned around and headed back home. What a wasted day.

Margo good job on that card.

I always prefer red or yellow tomatoes but would try the others.

I'm sorry I didn't post yesterday. I did receive my adorable card yesterday. I have no idea why it took so long to get here. I will have to post it later when I get home. It's sitting on the kitchen table as a reminder. Thank you nicki.

Youre welcome, I was just worried something happened to it on the way. Glad you got it

Here it is. Didn't Nikki send an adorable card wishing me a happy 4th. She included a little notepad. Who can't use one of those? Thanks again Nikki.

We have received so much rain the last month that I have had 3 plants roots rot. So sad. Will have to replace them next year. I just hope the rain is gone at least until things can dry up. The temps and humidity are dropping so that's a good plus.
