The design addressed the drainage issue by installing an underground system with PVC piping and catch basins to deviate water to the street.
The homeowner's main desire was to create a walking area behind the pool with space for quiet reading and a new landscape to provide privacy and enjoyment. Sphere boxwoods are the protagonists of the scene over limestone gravel along with agapanthuses; both adapted to partial shade from the many pine trees located along with the property. The main accomplishment was to provide a lush landscape in a previously problematic area with no drainage and shade. The flow of the walking area continues with liriope and mondo grass leading to a peaceful reading area surrounded by beautiful boulders and muhly grass.
Victorian Fireplace ShopThis Craftsman style brick fireplace smoked as a wood burner, but all venting issues are addressed by installing a direct vent gas fireplace insert. The details on the cast iron trim shown work so nicely with the details in the painted brick fireplace.

MDB Design GroupOn the opposite wall, the 48” Viking range was to remain. To address the function issue on this side, we replaced the original ceiling exhaust fan with a 48” stainless hood with cabinets above and on the right side. This provided the lighting and ventilation needed, as well as more storage.

Upon inspection, we could see that the siding was failing, the membrane roofs were leaking, and some gutters were failing. We made some room in our busy summer schedule to address the critical issues so the students could move back into a safe building in fall.

The property was open on three sides, and in full view of four homes. Through artistic use of evergreens such as Skip Laurels, Leyland, Cypress, and Cedars, an attractive privacy screen was created. Texture and color were brought in to the buffering divider by incorporating flowering deciduous shrubs.

Stealth ConstructionHere is a small powder room remodel we just completed in Medford. This was a very small space that had been added to the original house years ago. It was a very cold spot in the house and didn't fit the decor of the remaining home. We addressed the cold issue by provided open cell spray foam insulation all around including the floor which had been a problem area. Along with the cold it also had a few structural issues which were corrected during the construction. In the end the customer ended up with a nice cozy powder room that fits their decor and if I say so myself " A beautiful final product"!
