This 1980’s Preston Hollow home was remodeled and furnished, keeping transitional design fresh in the living spaces, with some refined rustic elements in the master suite. The natural elements of the outdoors were incorporated in the home’s art and accessories in the main living spaces and foyer. The master suite takes a bit of a Ralph Lauren feel with the herringbone grass cloth on the walls, masculine bedding fabrics and classic floral patterned window treatment fabrics. Apple greens juxtapose some brick reds to make a color statement while keeping the focus on the room’s textures. The master suite was designed to feel like an organic spa. The bathtub boasts a chromotherapy feature using color to adorn the water as bathers soak. A unique blend of stone and glass materials was chosen to ensure a cohesive flow from the master suite to the bath.

This home is located in the in the heart of Northcenter and situated on an oversized lot with a tremendous view of a landscaped backyard garden. The client’s desire was to open the back kitchen wall to take advantage of the garden view and to incorporate the kitchen into the rest of the home. By adding a 3’-0” deep addition at the sink wall and increasing the overall size of the windows, Vesta was able to expand the views and to open the floor plan to create a functional island. The island in turn, added space for food prep & prep sink along with casual seating. By removing the adjoining Dining Room wall, Vesta created an open floor plan that enhanced the Owners everyday living experiences. The new Dining Buffet added storageand a visual break while maintaining the open feel. By using warm horizontal walnut tones, it allowed a reference back to the original mid-century feel of the décor of the home. Adding playful highlights of apple green, we took advantage of a palette that brought the natural outside elements back into the environment.

Retro home bowling alley installed in a family recreation building in central Minnesota. Most of the bowling components were salvaged from an old commercial bowling center, and were restored to like-new, or in some technical aspects, better-than-new, condition. The over-lane ball return riser, rack, and capping were originally manufactured in the 1950s. The automatic pinsetter machines are Brunswick A-2 models, which were totally dismantled, cleaned, painted, and rebuilt piece-by-piece with the addition of many new parts. The masking units are Brunswick Gold Crown single-lane models, which were refinished with Granny Smith Apple Green vinyl, and outfitted with a modern LED "pindicator" system. The bowling alley features built-in shoe and ball storage, and a restored manual scorer's table with custom scoresheets.

In our work, we see lots of big homes with big spaces. We also see small homes. And we’ll be the first to tell you that size isn’t what matters. What’s important is scale. Through design, we can make a small space look big—or make a big space look small. But more important, we can use scale to make your home interiors meet your functional needs while reflecting your personality, values and style. The Eyes Have It. When you step into a room, where do you look? Directing the eye is one of the magic tricks that designers use to create a particular effect. Bright red apples in a simple glass bowl immediately draws the eye to a kitchen counter. The hefty wood trivet and rounded concrete planter containing succulents echo the shape of the apples and the bowl, while adding new materials. A wood and metal stand holds an iPad or book for easy recipe reference, all atop an elegant light granite counter. In a separate arrangement, ceramic artichokes create shape and shine but maintain the neutral color for continuity. In this context, the eye is drawn immediately to the bright red color. That’s why sparse seasonal decorations can be more effective than heavy ornamentation. We can actually take in more when there are fewer items to focus on.

This bedroom is small and had a tiny existing closet and poor flow, so we had to get creative. We reworked the layout to allow for a walk in closet and replaced old carpet with bamboo flooring. By adding a loft bed, we gained a large custom desk space, complete with tool chest as desk storage. Since my client’s view of the ceiling got a little closer, we added interest with bold color and design. A contemporary dresser and comfortable reading chair round out the space. The existing bathroom had a leaking shower with odd angles. To save money, we kept the angles and added a European shower tower, maximizing luxury and function in a tight space. The wall mounted vanity is visually lighter than a traditional vanity and makes the room feel larger. And we can’t forget the giraffe – a fun and colorful accent for a true animal lover! The bathroom enjoys great views. The standalone white bathtub placed beside a large window is equipped with a Hans Grohe tub filler. The window features a soft custom made roman shade. We furnished the area with a blue patterned garden stool. The bathroom floor features a hexagon mosaic tile. We designed the walnut vanity with a marble countertop and backsplash, and his and her undermount sinks. The vanity is paired with unique mirrors flanked by tiny lamp sconced lighting.
