Celebrating 60 years, Schmechtig Landscapes has taken pride in masterful landscaping employing its old-world traditions and perspectives introduced by our founder, Klaus Schmechtig and handed down to his son, Michael. This year, they welcome Michael’s son and third-generation family member Matt Schmechtig. Our philosophy treats the landscape of your property as an extension of your home by combining design solutions with experienced horticultural maintenance services. Schmechtig’s successful practice comes from dedication to building long-term relationships with our clients—and that is why the majority of our work comes directly from referrals.
Our philosophy is to treat the landscape of our client’s property as if it is our own. We give our clients the convenience of working with one company for all their landscape needs giving them the gift of time to spend with family and friends. This approach has remained since the start of the company in 1960.
Our staff includes Registered Landscape Architects and Designers, Certified Landscape Professionals, Certified Landscape Technicians, Licensed Plant Health Care and Pesticide Technicians. Schmechtig Landscapes creates and maintains living environments that bring people together and we are very proud of the long term relationships we have nurtured.

We have used Schmechtig for over 20 years. They do awesome work. We use them for spring and fall cleanup, along with scheduled grounds maintenance. They also fertilize our lawn, do weed and grub control, and in addition aerate the lawn. We have also used them for reseeding our lawn, as well as dormant winter pruning. Their staff is first-rate and we highly recommend them.

Did a fabulous, professional job of installing drain tiles on the side of the house to the backyard. It had been a big watery mess for years and now it is dry and perfect. Took two to three days. Cleaned up after themselves and left everything looking great. Highly recommend. Also, removed a side of a fence and filled in the holes. Very happy!

Tony has supervised the maintenance of our property for several years now and our yard has never looked better. He recently installed a gravel dog run in the back of our yard. It's the type of job that would be easy to do an "adequate" job or with a little extra effort, do it "right". Tony always does it right. He listens and is responsive and has good ideas.

Concrete can crack but is easier to maintain and snow plow. The bluestone chip gravel is embedded in the second layer of asphalt. Other colored gravel can be used.
