This 1950s house had an original kitchen complete with green linoleum countertops and a vintage Chambers Stove. The kitchen area consisted of two separate small spaces. As part of the design/build process the walls were removed and the entire area opened up into one expansive space.. The owners, who entertain large groups of people, and enjoy gourmet cooking have found this to be an extraordinary area that satisfies all of their needs. While eating at the granite breakfast bar the owner's can conveniently watch the flat screen TV on the wall. The wet bar in the background has aluminum framed glass doors with ribbed glass inserts that make a visual statement at the end of the room. The door to the right of the bar leads into an 8ft deep walk in pantry that not only provides extensive storage but incorporates access to the rear of their home automation system. A Wolfe dual fuel 48" range provides all of the cooking capacity needed for food preparation for the large gatherings that are held at this home. Twin dishwashers and extensive storage make entertainment a breeze. Surround sound and LED lights provide a soothing atmosphere for entertainment. This dramatically stunning second floor landing is filled with architectural detailing. Beautiful dark hardwood hand rail works in unison with the dark hard wood wide-plank flooring. Wainscoting with elegant top rail wraps around this beautiful space. Beneath the large picture window is a window seat that spans that wall and has plenty of custom built-in storage. The large picture window with true divided lights is topped off by a half round window with curved mullions giving a nod to the curved elements of the first floor. Half round transoms adorn the tops of doorways and corridor entrances. Quatrefoil motif antiqued mirrors flank both sides of the large picture window. This old farmhouse (ca. late 18th century) has undergone many renovations over the years. Spring Creek Design added its stamp in 2008, with a small mudroom addition and a complete interior renovation. The addition encompasses a 1st floor mudroom with extensive cabinetry and closetry. Upon entering the space from the driveway, cabinet and countertop space is provided to accommodate incoming grocery bags. Next in line are a series of “lockers” and cubbies - just right for coats, hats and book bags. Further inside is a wrap-around window seat with cedar shoe racks beneath. A stainless steel dog feeding station rounds out the amenities - all built atop a natural Vermont slate floor. On the lower level, the addition features a full bathroom and a “Dude Pod” - a compact work and play space for the resident code monkey. Outfitted with a stand-up desk and an electronic drum kit, one needs only emerge for Mountain Dew refills and familial visits. Within the existing space, we added an ensuite bathroom for the third floor bedroom. The second floor bathroom and first floor powder room were also gutted and remodeled. The master bedroom was extensively remodeled - given a vaulted ceiling and a wall of floor-to-roof built-ins accessed with a rolling ladder. An extensive, multi-level deck and screen house was added to provide outdoor living space, with secure, dry storage below. Design Criteria: - Update house with a high sustainability standard. - Provide bathroom for daughters’ third floor bedroom. - Update remaining bathrooms - Update cramped, low ceilinged master bedroom - Provide mudroom/entryway solutions. - Provide a window seating space with good visibility of back and side yards – to keep an eye on the kids at play. - Replace old deck with a updated deck/screen porch combination. - Update sitting room with a wood stove and mantle. Special Features: - Insulated Concrete Forms used for Dude Pod foundation. - Soy-based spray foam insulation used in the addition and master bedroom. - Paperstone countertops in mudroom. - Zero-VOC paints and finishes used throughout the project. - All decking and trim for the deck/screen porch is made from 100% recycled HDPE (milk jugs, soda, water bottles) - High efficiency combination washer/dryer.

This is a custom made bar to fit exactly what our customer desired. The back bar features (3) LED lit arched mirror sections with glass display shelving and storage cabinets beneath. The front bar features a solid raised panel wall with decorative corbels supporting the angled bar top. The bar top is completed with a Chicago style arm rail. Underneath the front bar is appliance bays and a copper sink.

The ivory enameled woodwork gave a lively contrast to the floor and wall colors. Finally we used dimmable lighting and many zones to sculpt a wide variety of moods and lighting levels. Location: Cohasset, MA, USA When my clients purchased this historic house, they saw that this garden held great potential, even though the property had been somewhat neglected. They wanted the new landscape to evoke the feeling of an Olde Maine house that time had forgotten. Sitting on the front veranda in the shade of the treasured Horse Chestnut and Maple trees that flank each side of the house, we explored the possibilities together. The front yard sloped a bit too much for comfort, so we determined that building a stone wall in the middle would create a terrace, making both parts of the lawn more usable. Visions of parties and children's weddings came to mind. We put a set of elegant arching steps in the middle, leading down to the sunken garden. Large, mature Rhododendrons were planted at the base of the Horse Chestnut and Maple trees just off the front veranda. Boxwoods undulate beneath the trees with Vinca as a ground cover. Ticonderoga stone was used for the walls and steps, which was the closest match to the existing stone foundation. The exquisite masonry by Doug Brooks Masonry makes this staircase as elegant as a tiered wedding cake.

This home, set at the end of a long, private driveway, is far more than meets the eye. Built in three sections and connected by two breezeways, the home’s setting takes full advantage of the clean ocean air. Set back from the water on an open plot, its lush lawn is bordered by fieldstone walls that lead to an ocean cove. The hideaway calms the mind and spirit, not only by its privacy from the noise of daily life, but through well-chosen elements, clean lines, and a bright, cheerful feel throughout. The interior is show-stopping, covered almost entirely in clear, vertical-grain fir—most of which was source from the same place. From the flooring to the walls, columns, staircases and ceiling beams, this special, tight-grain wood brightens every room in the home. At just over 3,000 feet of living area, storage and smart use of space was a huge consideration in the creation of this home. For example, the mudroom and living room were both built with expansive window seating with storage beneath. Built-in drawers and cabinets can also be found throughout, yet never interfere with the distinctly uncluttered feel of the rooms. The homeowners wanted the home to fit in as naturally as possible with the Cape Cod landscape, and also desired a feeling of virtual seamlessness between the indoors and out, resulting in an abundance of windows and doors throughout. This home has high performance windows, which are rated to withstand hurricane-force winds and impact rated against wind-borne debris. The 24-foot skylight, which was installed by crane, consists of six independently mechanized shades operating in unison. The open kitchen blends in with the home’s great room, and includes a Sub Zero refrigerator and a Wolf stove. Eco-friendly features in the home include low-flow faucets, dual-flush toilets in the bathrooms, and an energy recovery ventilation system, which conditions and improves indoor air quality. Other natural materials incorporated for the home included a variety of stone, including bluestone and boulders. Hand-made ceramic tiles were used for the bathroom showers, and the kitchen counters are covered in granite – eye-catching and long-lasting.

The main dining area is surrounded by venetian plaster. One wall holds an antique decorative smoky paneled mirror with flanking niches in gold leaf with antique Art Deco table lamps. An Art Deco chinese rug houses the Macassar dining table with the suede leather matching chairs. A rare bauhaus silver tea sets rests on the dining table. The room is lighted by an antique Petitot Deco chandelier in brass and glass.

Master bedroom, relocated from the first floor, overlooks the Charles. Built in cabinetry flanking the windows in the Mansard rooof, include bins, laundry baskets and a dressing table. A new walk-in closet and a reach-in closet, is not shown. Bookshelves were created to flank the bed.
