After knocking down walls to open up the space and adding skylights, a bright, airy kitchen with abundant natural light was created. The lighting, counter stools and soapstone countertops give the room an urban chic, semi-industrial feel but the warmth of the wooden beams and the wood flooring make sure that the space is not cold. A secondary, smaller island was put on wheels in order to have a movable and highly functional prep space.

Design inspiration for this wine cellar came from a statement made by the homeowner, “I don’t like sitting in a cold room drinking wine.” by designing a room within a room, we were able to contain the temperature controlled wine space using floor to ceiling glass panels while still allowing full view for the beautiful custom built white oak cabinetry from the tasting area. LED accent light and decorative stone tile is stylishly integrated within the cabinetry resulting in a truly unique wine cellar.

Raised beds hold organic garden soil mix that ranges from 8" - 2' deep. Here you see a late winter, very early spring view of this salad garden in metro Atlanta. Various types of lettuce, kale, parsley, and chives are accented by pansies which have edible flowers. After our frost date, most of this will be removed. Tomatoes will be planted in the center where the soil is deepest. Basil and mesclun will be planted around.
