With space constraints as the main boundary in this space, a narrow wall-hung vanity was designed into the space to maximize circulation for a mother and daughter to utilize while getting ready for work and school in the A.M.

On this steeply sloping site, the customers wanted a custom home that would maximize their living space within the constraints of the site conditions. The chosen solution embraces outdoor living with an open living floor plan.

Named after a local crustacean, the Periwinkle Project design by Beaumont Concepts promotes harmony with the natural coastal surrounds and addresses sustainability from construction to consumption of resources over the life cycle of the home. The compact, cost effective home is successful in responding to constraints of the site. The home sits comfortably within the site and actively benefits from it with passive solar principals and energy efficiency and environmentally conscious provision of thermal mass.

Because the size and compliance constraints of an electric fireplace are considerably different from a natural gas unit, we were free to create a unique design that met their needs.

Given the constraints with natural lighting, the design explores artificial lighting as a means to establish atmospheric conditions. Lighting coves are created throughout the gallery alcove and studio and hide LED lighting that wash the walls. Reveals are exploited as an architectural strategy to emphasize form with shadow lines, but also serve as electrical coves and hide the outlets within the gallery and studio.
