Lightweight and delicate, the veins characterising Bianco Lasa are so graceful and deliberate in their movement in all directions across the surface as to appear almost hand-drawn. They seem almost to ask permission to cross the slab, contrasting and accentuating its pure white.

Demeter Apartment is an exploration of refined minimalism with a subtle eclectic edge. The design focuses on clarity and balance, creating a space that feels calm, deliberate, and highly livable. Clean architectural lines and a restrained palette set the foundation, while carefully chosen accents add individuality without overwhelming the sense of order. Every detail—from the flow of light to the textures of surfaces—was designed with precision, giving the interior a timeless, intelligent character. This project proves that minimalism doesn’t have to feel cold: it can be warm, layered, and deeply personal when executed with discipline and vision.

We worked around the existing support columns and duct work and said, “If you can’t beat me, join me!” A very cool ceiling emerged thanks to deliberate millwork and use of color. Speaking of color, this windowless space got an energy burst thanks to accent striping, artwork and sconces. Rubber flooring provides comfort, and the swivel flat screen allows for easy watching from anywhere in the gym. Working out never looked so good! A residence designed for informal gathering and relaxation on a quiet cove near Acadia National Park. Conceived of as a compound of connected gathering spaces with adjacent private retreat spaces. The "village" of structures is designed to open and close seasonally with large sliding barn doors. These also modulate light, air and views into and out of the cottages. Carefully positioned to take advantage of the rich variety of views and sloping topography, the cottages have integral terraces and retaining walls to negotiate the undulating land-form. One arrives at the high point of the site and the long barn axis and navigates between the cottages to the main entrance. Once inside, the home deliberately reveals unique views to the ocean, mountains and surrounding spruce forest.

Exterior view of the Corten steel-clad facade and steel-framed entry door. The rusted patina of the weathering steel meets the anthracite aluminum window frame in a deliberate material conversation. Green roof visible above the parapet.

The work zone makes good use of the island, in which the sink and dishwasher are installed. It is across from the range and within easy reach of the refrigerator. The more social area of the kitchen is on the other side of the island, which has easy access to a drinks station. Placing the island extension and beverage station out of the way of the work zone was deliberate. French cafe stools and a tiered coconut shell chandelier keep things laid-back and coastal. The shells on the chandelier bring in an earthy element. Brass hardware pops against the green cabinets.

A close-up detail highlighting flat-panel cabinetry with a continuous integrated aluminum reveal, where alignment and proportion become the primary design language. Crisp white panels, consistent shadow lines, and exacting tolerances create a calm, architectural composition that allows adjacent art and materials to breathe. This moment reflects Maverick Design’s disciplined approach to minimalist modern interiors, where details are resolved quietly and deliberately.
