This well-loved home belonging to a family of seven was overdue for some more room. Renovations by the team at Advance Design Studio entailed both a lower and upper level addition to original home. Included in the project was a much larger kitchen, eating area, family room and mud room with a renovated powder room on the first floor. The new upper level included a new master suite with his and hers closets, a new master bath, outdoor balcony patio space, and a renovation to the only other full bath on in that part of the house. Having five children formerly meant that when everyone was seated at the large kitchen table, they couldn’t open the refrigerator door! So naturally the main focus was on the kitchen, with a desire to create a gathering place where the whole family could hang out easily with room to spare. The homeowner had a love of all things Irish, and careful details in the crown molding, hardware and tile backsplash were a reflection. Rich cherry cabinetry and green granite counter tops complete a traditional look so as to fit right in with the elegant old molding and door profiles in this fine old home. The second focus for these parents was a master suite and bathroom of their own! After years of sharing, this was an important feature in the new space. This simple yet efficient bath space needed to accommodate a long wall of windows to work with the exterior design. A generous shower enclosure with a comfortable bench seat is open visually to the his and hers vanity areas, and a spacious tub. The makeup table enjoys lots of natural light spilling through large windows and an exit door to the adult’s only exclusive coffee retreat on the rooftop adjacent. Added square footage to the footprint of the house allowed for a spacious family room and much needed breakfast area. The dining room pass through was accentuated by a period appropriate transom detail encasing custom designed carved glass detailing that appears as if it’s been there all along. Reclaimed painted tin panels were added to the dining room ceiling amongst elegant crown molding for unique and dramatic dining room flair. An efficient dry bar area was tucked neatly between the great room spaces, offering an excellent entertainment area to circulating guests and family at any time. This large family now enjoys regular Sunday breakfasts and dinners in a space that they all love to hang out in. The client reports that they spend more time as a family now than they did before because their house is more accommodating to them all. That’s quite a feat anyone with teenagers can relate to! This 1949, 1020 SF home was in need of an update to better suite the needs of the owners. As empty nesters, the couple wanted better storage, flow and livability. This project entailed design and construction on the entire home. We took one of the three bedrooms and split it to enlarge the tiny bathroom and to create a walk in closet. The new bath is accessible from both the Primary Bedroom closet and the main living room. The original Primary Bedroom Closet was closed off from the bedroom and opened into the kitchen to create a step-in pantry complete with wine storage unit. The new pantry keeps the kitchen free of counter top clutter. The kitchen remained in the same footprint as the original kitchen but moved the range to the sink run. This allowed better flow through the kitchen to the outside entertainment area. The cabinet depth on the pantry side of the kitchen is narrower than normal to allow a better walk through. This project entailed a rear yard renovation including the design and installation of a covered patio tucked into the corner of the property. Reclaimed brick pavers surround the patio and complement the texture of the exposed aggregate.

After purchasing a historic corner grocery store in Uptown New Orleans, our client conducted an extensive renovation to create a beautiful private residence on the second level, with commercial space remaining on the first floor. We worked to maximize their storage in a sleek, uncluttered kitchen and added state-of-the-art appliances to support their love of cooking and entertaining. The resulting open-concept kitchen entails a host of storage and countertop space, including a large island for preparing gourmet meals for friends and family.

The master details a spacious room sitting under a 9-foot ceiling height and brightened by three tall windows. Behind barn doors lies the master bathroom, which entails two separate, large vanities with extra space for linen, a 6-foot deep soaking tub, a separate shower, and a compartmentalized toilet. From the master bath access is granted into the master walk-in closet.

This design build project entailed a custom renovation of a two family home in Cambridge. While updating the house with all new kitchens, bathrooms, electrical systems, heating systems and finishes, it was important to the owners that as much of the original feel of the house remain. As designers and builders on this project, Haycon had the ability to move quickly and finish the job within four months.

This exquisite bathroom remodel located in Alpharetta, Georgia is the perfect place for any homeowner to slip away into luxurious relaxation. This bathroom transformation entailed removing two walls to reconfigure the vanity and maximize the square footage. A double vanity was placed to one wall to allow the placement of the beautiful Danae Free Standing Tub. The seamless Serenity Shower glass enclosure showcases detailed tile work and double Delta Cassidy shower rain cans and trim. An airy, spa-like feel was created by combining white marble style tile, Super White Dolomite vanity top and the Sea Salt Sherwin Williams paint on the walls. The dark grey shaker cabinets compliment the Bianco Gioia Marble Basket-weave accent tile and adds a touch of contrast and sophistication. This project entailed assisting architect, Kurt Otto of (ENV) Environetics Architects & EKO-Development tile design in a newly built home in Bergen county. After designing the home Kurt paired with Mediterranean Tile designer, Nina Martin to utilize her tile design ability to finish the house. The focus of this bathroom was to create a comfortable environment for the client’s son, a young boy, that would grow with him as he ages. Nina focused on using a color palette that would transcend into the later years of the boy’s adulthood but yet still kid friendly for the time being.

256 sq ft. addition on the back of the house. The addition entailed an expanded nook, office space, a second laundry room, second refrigerator, and an outdoor bathroom. Added amenities work conveniently with the beautiful new 17 X 20 Pavilion of outdoor living space with a grill and dining area.

Our client commissioned us to redesign the entire front landscape of their beautiful contemporary home, built in 2004. As a starter, the project entailed demolishing and repouring their front steps and walkway. We chose sand-finish concrete as the replacement material for its beauty and slip resistance, and we laid the walkway out in a segmented, offset pattern to complement the contemporary nature of our client’s home. We chose solid-brass pathway lights from Brilliance Lighting to complement the beauty of their bronze front door. To further accentuate the beauty of our client’s entrance, we tiled their front stoop with natural Rustica slate, built a decorative screen of South American Ipe wood on one side of their entrance, and installed a colorful ceramic flowerpot on the other. We installed an automatic watering system for the flowerpot, and directed their downspout effluence into an underground drainage system. Our planting choices for the project included a specimen multi-trunk Eastern Redbud tree, ‘Panchito’ Manzanita, Itoh Peony, ‘Kelseyi’ Dogwood, Blue Avena Grass, and Liriope Muscari.

This kitchen facelift entailed; complex installation of a range hood and ventilation system going through a 24" plaster and stone wall. Some existing cabinetry altering to suite new appliances. New eatery area with new cabinets and Quartz top. A matching china hutch cabinet in the dinning room. Fresh paint throughout space. New appliances (gas range, wall ovens, dishwasher and microwave).

Extensive repairs to the upstairs bathroom was much needed. It as well entailed converting the adjacent room into a full 4 pieces ensuite bathroom. The new spaces includes new floor joists and exterior framing along with insulation, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical. The bathrooms are a traditional design with subway tiles and mosaic marble tiles. The cast iron tub is an excellent focal feature of the bathroom that sets it back in time. The original kitchen was cut off from the rest of the house. It also faced structural issues with the flooring and required extensive framing. The kitchen as well required extensive electrical, plumbing, and HVAC modifications. The new space is open, warm, bright and inviting. Our clients are most exited about now being able to enjoy the entire floor as one. This project by Lennox Masonry in Victoria, BC entailed an entire transformation of our client’s backyard, installing ample drainage that runs beneath the wall, building a brick wall out of reclaimed bricks from a heritage chimney that we recently demolished to act as a backing throughout, and then getting creative with the stonework. Instead of shaping each stone, we decided to let each rock guide the next and just let the walls curve and weave themselves together across the property. Stone steps were also built which lead to terraced walls and a flagstone patio. Some areas of the stone retaining walls were made to look dry-stacked and others had mortar joints. We used the granite mainly to add depth and a contrasting colour.
