After two years with a peach dining room, the homeowner wanted to make it her own. Using her extensive china collection as inspiration, we painted the walls blue, the fireplace white and and created a white display frame. The new window treatments tie everything together. In spite of the windows, the room is very dim, so instead of navy, we used a brighter dark blue that becomes more intimate for evening dinner parties. Sara E. Eastman Photography

Representing an array of mediums, much of the collection is sourced from local galleries, such as Medelson Gallery, as well as Weisshouse. "I feel the artwork makes it a home," says Stacy. Here in the entry hall, Weiss thoughtfully placed large-scale works to bring intimacy into the grand space. "It adds a personal touch that you cannot achieve otherwise," she states. While at times it can be a challenge to create balance in such an architectural environment, the homeowners have overcome this with their choice of furnishings. Unified through color and form, modern chairs punctuate the walkway. Their geometric designs give them an architectural quality that supports the environment without overwhelming it. The open floor plan of the main living space of this house was designed with the owners extensive art collection in mind. With built in displays and appropriate lighting, the living room becomes a live-in gallery space complimented with a collection of contemporary furnishings and design features.

We sourced specialty materials like Moroccan zellige tile for the backsplash and hood to create a refined yet relaxed feeling throughout.
