Luxurious Primary Bathroom Renovation
This fully renovated primary bathroom was thoughtfully designed to blend timeless elegance with modern comfort, incorporating historic elements that evoke a classic and luxurious ambiance.
A standout feature is the large soaking tub, complemented by a high-end Delta tub filler and hand spray for both style and functionality. The custom vanity showcases period-inspired moulding details and is topped with a stunning quartz countertop featuring a historic pattern in earthy greens and neutral sand tones.
The open, airy shower is enclosed with glass and finished with marble-veined patterned tile, adding a refined and sophisticated touch. Traditional, high-end light fixtures provide warm illumination and further enhance the classic aesthetic.
Walls are painted in two complementary shades of calming green— the applied moulding in the lighter tone to accentuate the architectural detail and bring depth to the space. A central window framed with substantial case moulding acts as a striking focal point, balancing natural light with historic charm.
This renovation harmoniously merges classic design elements with luxurious materials, creating a serene and timeless retreat.

Removal of the walls that separated a once tiny kitchen from the dining room was like that feeling of relief when you unbutton those far too tight pants at the end of the day. It opened up the core of the house, let the daylight flood in, and provided a desired social connection between the cooking, dining, and entertaining experience, plus views to the front yard. One step towards achieving historic status to even apply for the MILS act - all the windows were replaced and returned back to their wood frame glory, and a previously modified window was returned back to it's orginal glass door and window configuration with direct access to the front porch. Existing harwood floors were patched and refinished, structural beams and footings were added as required, and all well worth the effort. The coveted island/ "command station" features a natural quartzite countertop, farmhouse sink, beautiful hand-painted tile, and uber comfortable counter height stools - perfectly proportioned to where the seat back will never get dinged up against the stone top and can tuck completely under the countertop when not in use. Tall, flanking pantries are convenient for everyday items, and deep lower drawers house all the necessities a home chef wants within arms reach.

The historically-significant double-height library on the top floor of this Arts and Crafts townhouse features its original nautical maps, a seahorse chandelier and a mantle painting depicting the Bownell family ancestors’ arrival in New Amsterdam. Polychromatic tiles on the mantel surround showcase various knights in aristocratic tunics, doublets and armor, being that medieval times were common themes featured in the American Arts and Crafts period.
