To create the sort of refined yet inviting and livable home the client desired, we felt it was imperative to pare down the furniture and accessories in each room in an effort to create calm. We wanted to use fewer pieces, but ones that were more important—either because of their functionality or because of the statement they make. When you don’t over-accessorize, it keeps you from feeling overwhelmed. We carried this philosophy through the entire home, even down to the bookcases in the home office. For their daughters’ room, David and Dawn chose blackout Hunter Douglas Duette® honeycomb shades with a LiteRise® operating system. LiteRise® allows them to raise and lower the shades without cords, imperative for child safety. The shades hold securely in any position — there’s no need for constant adjusting. The shades were mounted floor to ceiling to block light when lowered. Blackout drapes were again used to capture any light seeping in from the side of the shades. Now two and half years of age, their daughters are still taking two hours naps! David and Dawn credit the restful atmosphere created by their window treatments for this parenting miracle.

The use of antimicrobial/ Crypton and Greengard contract fabrics was imperative to support the residences healthy, comfortable and attractive environment. Always aware of ADA compliances, spacing for wheel chairs and walkers was critical as well as the proper lighting and accessories. Studies have shown that plants and images of exteriors create a soothing space for communities that specialize in memory Care. To prevent wandering without "imprisoning" residents, camouflaging exit doors and using unobtrusive or keypad locks. Exit doors can also be placed off to the left, or right of hallways so they are not conveyed as destinations.

Like most growing families, this client wanted to lure everyone outside. And when the family went outdoors, they were hoping to find flamboyant color, delicious fragrance, freshly grilled food, fun play-spaces, and comfy entertaining areas waiting. Privacy was an imperative. Seems basic enough. But a heap of challenges stood in the way between what they were given upon arrival and the family's ultimate dreamscape. Primary among the impediments was the fact that the house stands on a busy corner lot. Plus, the breakneck slope was definitely not playground-friendly. Fortunately, Westover Landscape Design rode to the rescue and literally leveled the playing field. Furthermore, flowing from space to space is a thoroughly enjoyable, ever-changing journey given the blossom-filled, year-around-splendiferous gardens that now hug the walkway and stretch out to the property lines. Soft evergreen hedges and billowing flowering shrubs muffle street noise, giving the garden within a sense of embrace. A fully functional (and frequently used) convenient outdoor kitchen/dining area/living room expand the house's floorplan into a relaxing, nature-infused on-site vacationland. Mission accomplished. With the addition of the stunning old-world stone fireplace and pergola, this amazing property is a welcome retreat for year round enjoyment. Mission accomplished. We utilized the space in this powder room more efficiently by fabricating a driftwood apron- front, floating sink base. The extra counter space gives guests more room room for a purse, when powdering their nose. Chunky crown molding, painted in fresh white balances the architecture. With no natural light, it was imperative to have plenty of illumination. We chose a small chandelier with a dark weathered zinc finish and driftwood beads and coordinating double light sconce. A natural rope mirror brings in the additional beach vibe and jute baskets store bathroom essentials and camouflages the plumbing. Paint is Sherwin Williams, "Deep Sea Dive".

Kitchen remodel which included carefully transporting over-sized granite carefully and handcrafting it for the new counter tops. Because the island is a major focal point of the kitchen, selecting the right type of stone and style is imperative. We worked with the client to find something that fits the kitchen's traditional style, and the client couldn't be more pleased!
