This 80 year old farm house was in need of an update. The kitchen and dining areas were cramped, dark and isolated from one another. The homeowner requested an open floor plan with more storage and space where her children could play while she was busy in the kitchen. Thompson Remodeling flipped the existing positions of the dining room and kitchen and removed walls to open up the space. The new kitchen has bright white cabinets, quartz countertops and an island with a butcher block counter. A custom banquette provides seating and a spot for the kids to play and do homework while its bench doubles as hidden storage. The wet bar in the dining space has loads of pantry space. The existing floors were very uneven, so we used a vinyl plank flooring that would allow more give for installation. It looks just like weathered pine and will offer very easy care for the busy family.

Private house is located in the northwestern part of the area with the development of the south by the living aisle. The building has 3 floors and a basement. The building has 5 bedrooms, 9 bathrooms, 2 swimming pools, 2 elevators, bowling, sauna, steam bath, garage for 4 cars, an isolated area for staff. The building has developed balconies and terraces, roofs planted with grass and used for recreation. Facades are decorated with fiber cement panels and granite. Due to the extensive glazing and the unusual layout, a beautiful view opens to the adjacent lot from the windows of all dwellings. All living rooms have access to the green roof and balconies. The owners desired a space with the impact of a full home theater that wasn't isolated from the home. To achieve this we designed the wet bar into the home theater area, but still kept the theater area to the side so it had 3 walls and felt like a room. To finish it off we installed a 120" acoustically transparent screen and projector system, 7.1 surround sound, and all the A/V equipment needed to give a cinema experience at home. All the A/V equipment racks are hidden behind the screen and controlled by a single URC RF remote.

A micro-addition and new layout turns 1980’s cramped kitchen into bright, light-filled collaborative kitchen space. The cramped, isolated kitchen in this 1980’s era home did not fit our clients’ lifestyle nor take advantage of the beautiful views of the nearby pond and woods. They longed for a functional yet fabulous space to support collaborative cooking and family gatherings. A micro-addition facilitated a new layout that both opened to and enlivened their existing living and dining spaces. A bold tri-color palette along with pro-level appliances and impeccable finish detailing gives them everything they desired and more.

This 2019 project for award-winning engineer and former Blackbird Academy instructor Ernesto Olvera-LaPier was one of NILES’ earliest ventures into designing and building a fully formal Dolby Atmos mixing and mastering environment. The result is a highly accurate, purpose-built suite engineered to meet the strict demands of immersive audio work. The room is completely acoustically isolated from the surrounding structure. Sound-reducing wall systems sit atop floating-floor assemblies, paired with a full soft-ceiling bass trap, a false rear-wall trap, and custom full-lite acoustic doors. Dedicated mechanical systems ensure quiet, uninterrupted operation, allowing Ernesto to work with precision at any hour. Monitoring centers around a JBL M2 system seamlessly integrated into the treatment design, providing an immersive, detailed, and articulate listening experience essential for Dolby Atmos production. Every component—from the isolation assemblies to the tuning—was crafted to ensure that the mix translates exactly as intended. The suite is both visually understated and technically advanced, delivering an effortless feel with professional-grade performance throughout.

Mr. and Mrs. Parks loved they're home, but they felt it was too isolated and far from medical facilities, so they decided to move in their rental, which is located in Olympia. This started an ambitious remodeling to turn the rental into a home.

The narrow doorway leading into this 60's kitchen left the room feeling isolated and dated. An entire wall was occupied by a door leading to the garage and a large radiator under a window. Moving the garage entrance into another room, converting the radiator into a toe kick heater and installing a large header over the entrance to the kitchen allowed the formation of the galley kitchen with plenty of room to move around, and a peninsula off the end of the U-shaped layout creates an eat-in space.

Conveniently located with easy access, this wet bar features a contrast of black cabinetry, white countertops, white backsplash, open shelving with cold beverage fridge and a tall wine fridge.

With a new 60 sq. ft. bump-out, the living room now features large arched windows for a beautifully framed view of the river, plus a vaulted ceiling for drama. It’s part of an open floor plan connecting the kitchen, living, dining and family rooms; a double pocket door can isolate the living room to control sound.
