Mountain Peek is a custom residence located within the Yellowstone Club in Big Sky, Montana. The layout of the home was heavily influenced by the site. Instead of building up vertically the floor plan reaches out horizontally with slight elevations between different spaces. This allowed for beautiful views from every space and also gave us the ability to play with roof heights for each individual space. What to do when the client wants a King Size Bed and there is no room for it!!! Here in this waterfront bedroom there was barely room for the smallest of nightstands if we used a king sized bed. The solution was to incorporate a column on the wall with the night stand and make it a key feature of the design. Architect: Michelle Penn, AIA This barn home is modeled after an existing Nebraska barn in Lancaster County. Heating is by passive solar design, supplemented by a geothermal radiant floor system which is located under the wood floors in the hall.
