Yamini is the full package. She's an extraordinary talent, who knows her craft and uses it to best fulfill her clients' dreams. She has tremendous vision, and can turn nothing into something special. She's fully collaborative and happily presents various options and ideas. She's highly creative to the point where I so enjoy just watching her at work in our home, where I can see her creative juices flowing. She's accommodating, considerate, a superb communicator, and the consummate professional. To top it off, she's an absolute joy to work with. My husband and I are so grateful that Yamini was available to help us with our current project, and we look forward to working with her again.

Yamini did an excellent job presenting us with a cohesive design for our Hyde Park living room and entryway. She listened to our feedback and adjusted to our budget and timeline. She presented various options and worked well with recruiting contractors to complete the needed work on the fireplace, wallpaper and electrical. The pieces she selected were of excellent quality. Yamini is fantastic. Full stop. Our custom home builder recommended her and she did not disappoint. While I am sure that many of her clients give her full license to decorate their homes (and with good reason), we were looking for a guide of sorts. Yamini was the perfect guide during our process of making all of the (myriad) selections for our custom home. She worked closely with us to understand our aesthetic goals, and acted as a brilliant curator so that we were making selections from a manageable set of outstanding options rather than the entire universe of possibilities. She also brought to bear her relationships with some of the best folks at suppliers (e.g., tile shops, countertop providers, lighting stores, etc.), whose knowledge was immensely helpful in guiding us to choices that were within our budget while meeting our design goals. Yamini was a true partner in our process, and will remain a trusted advisor for years to come; I cannot imaging not having had her by our side during this process!

I used Yamini in 2021 to help with a medium size remodeling project we did in our home. She provided extensive design consultation to me throughout the project from picking raw materials for construction, lighting, to furnishings and placement, to decor. I couldn't have done it without her. I had to make a lot of decisions in a short period of time and Yamini was there every step of the way. We were able to shop together in-person and online and get everything we needed for the project. She was patient with me when I changed my mind or was indecisive, and helped me make informed choices about how to stay on budget. Of course the spaces all turned out beautiful and I feel like I have a new house after all of the hard work. She is also an amazing human and I feel like I gained a friend in the process.

Yamini has become like a member of our family after such a huge project, and I'm looking for other projects to do just to get to work with her again. She epitomizes professionalism and care, and you can tell she lays it all out for her clients and truly loves her work. Yamini is excellent to work with. My husband and I were moving to a larger rental and are expecting a baby in September. We wanted furniture that was readily available given significant shipment delays during the pandemic. Additionally space planning our apartment was quite challenging and Yamini was extremely thorough and came up with plans literally within a few days. She came with us to furniture stores and has a great eye and is able to quickly tell you what will and what won’t work. We finishing all our space planning, furniture selections and deliveries within 45 days. She has a great attitude and goes above and beyond for her clients. We recently purchased a new home in the Chicago area and undertook a project with Yamini having just found her on the internet, not really knowing what to expect. Our first interaction set the tone for the entire project...she was responsive and scheduled an appointment immediately (most other designers didn't even return our call). Our problem to solve going in: How to make this new home ours, reflecting our personality, style and life stage (two teenagers at home) while navigating a budget. We had a full house of furniture but very little fit. Her challenge: Meet our budgetary needs, bring new design thinking to the table and leverage some of our existing furniture. Wow...what a challenge and she grabbed the bull by the horns right out of the gate listening while challenging us to open our minds to the possibilities, diligently bringing beautiful design while managing to our budget! Several months and a few dollars later ;-), we have an amazing home that is consistent in style, brings the modern design we love and delivers on the personal touches of Texas (my home state) that makes it feel like home. YAMINI IS AWESOME! Yamini has been our designer for the better part of a decade. She has helped us with big jobs like remodeling our Kitchen/Dining room to smaller projects like paint color, furniture selection and frankly, anything and everything related to making our home more comfortable. She is thoughtful, attentive and quickly understands our needs. One of her biggest strengths is maximizing space in some of our smaller living spaces. I found Yamini on Houzz on a whim and contacted her to finish decorating (from top to bottom) my 2 newly purchased luxury condo units within 3 months. The units were bought with future rentals in mind so I put Yamini on a very strict timeline and small budget even with the level of luxury I asked for. She was not only helpful, very efficient, talented and flexible, she also acted as a mentor and a friend throughout the time I've worked with her. It was an intensive job given the circumstances, but she made it basically stress-free for me and the results turned out way better than I would ever imagine. I used Yamini as a consultant for my kitchen remodeling job. We spoke on the phone first so she could understand my needs and be prepared for her home visit. When I met with Yamini, she had color samples and other tools of the trade to help answer my questions and made suggestions to help me along in my planning. My project got delayed. I am now, almost a year later, at the completion stage. Yesterday, I called Yamini with a question to get her opinion. This was almost a year after our meeting. She told me to send photos, and she would get back to me. Within an hour, Yamini called me back, we discussed my options, and I told her which way I was leaning. She even emailed me photos while on the phone to show me what my choice would resemble and gave me a final suggestion to complete the kitchen look I wanted. New to Bloomington, Indiana I bought a rather classic house with a kitchen that I found difficult to work in. Looking for help to transform the conservative tone into a practical kitchen with a transitional and modern look, I found Yamini from Houzz. From the moment I talked to her, I knew I had the right person. She is smart, efficient, and sensitive to color, texture and space. Yamini helped me to redesign and shape the new kitchen so it integrates well (“flows”) into the living room. Not only is she professional, realistic, and knowledgeable, but Yamini is also easy and efficient to communicate with and her suggestions fit well with my taste and budget. She introduced me to all the essential shops to choose cabinets, hardware, tiles, and countertop. Yamini also introduced me to the wonderful contractor, Dave Johnloz to turn our ideas into reality. She also helped me find various furniture, lighting, and accent mirrors online. Most importantly for the final appearance of my new kitchen, she convinced me to use paint colors that I would not have dared to choose. These colors worked together to be astonishingly beautiful. Now, the kitchen and living room space flow well together to welcome my friends and family. Everyone who has come to see the transformation has been amazed.

I call Yamini when I have a design project because she listens to my challenges and ideas, then creates a pulled-together plan that combines the things I love with new, fresh ideas that I never would have thought of on my own. She was my go to person when I recently had a room that needed some TLC and rejuvenation. She gave new life to a set of family heirloom chairs by reimagining them in a bold, graphic print that made them feel modern and cozy at the same time. Yamini worked with my mom on our whole house when we first bought it. Yamini designed a bedroom, bathroom, and sitting room for me that I loved at 12 years old and still love at 25! I've had the pleasure to work with Yamini Designs as a contractor on a now completed kitchen remodel that was designed by her. She worked closely with the homeowner and my firm to come up with a design that fit the owners wants and expectations. She was very easy to communicate with and was there checking in on the progress of the job everyday. I am currently working with her on another project where we are just at the begining of design. We remodeled several areas of our home and Yamini helped with much of the design, colors, materials, etc. We also engaged her to completely redesign our 1982 master and guest baths. The floors had carpet, toilets were pink, etc. Yamini drew up several designs for the rooms and brought a couple of ideas for us to review. All of them were great, so we had a hard time picking our favorite! We did not have time to spend away from work selecting materials, so Yamini listened to what we wanted and brought back a few material samples for us to preview and pick from. That was a big time saver for us. Yamini was very easy to work with and kept in mind our budget and what we wanted in the room. But, she also shared her ideas, many of which we decided to use and ultimately loved. That created a sense of trust with her work! Now that our home remodeling construction has finished, we are working with her on some decorating ideas and picking furniture. Our home was built in 1974, and was one of the few contemporary homes being built at that time. Our architect/designer had some unique ideas about which rooms were important and which rooms were only functional...our bathrooms. It was time to remodel, and our 4 1/2 foot by 3 foot powder room was the first to get help. Not knowing where to begin, I decided to call Yamini. We had met years before when she first came to Bloomington and I was her realtor. After a tour of our living areas, a long discussion with us, and measurements in hand, Yamini went off excited about the challenge. When we met again, she had drawn out a floor plan showing the perfect glass corner sink, wall mirrors, a high efficiency commode, a color for the walls, striking new floor tiles and a " bit of bling" in the new ceiling lamp. In the end, it turned out to be our "WOW" room. When Yamini came to Bloomington, I was very impressed with her knowledge of home design. She was able to picture the potential that each house had and how it would suite her family. When I was having difficulty selling a large home, she was invaluable.. Within an hour, she transformed the look of the main rooms just by using what was already there. She also gave me more ideas about some improvements. Presenting her ideas, I was able to convince the owners what needed to be done to sell their home. After a small bit of remodeling, we had an offer to purchase.

Yamini helped us update our kitchen to a wonderful, bright space that our entire family enjoys. We had done a previous kitchen remodel, and had a pretty good idea what we wanted in this one. Despite this, we are so glad we hired Yamini to help us with our design. She worked with our ideas and evolved them into something above and beyond what we were expecting. She had ideas for features that we never would have thought of. Yamini has gone above and beyond what we expected in a designer. She tailored our NYC apartment to reflect not only our taste but also what is practical for our lifestyle. We interviewed several designers based out of New York and Philadelphia, Yamini was the only one who understood what we wanted and was extremely helpful with suggestions that fit our taste. She is well connected with furniture makers, fabric companies and retail stores. Her vast connections helped us often find less expensive or better quality materials than most high-end retailers carry.

Yamini helped me plan for and select furnishings for my new Logan Square home. We started over completely and needed everything for our new 3,400 square foot home from sofas and chairs to tables, rugs, lamps and art. Yamini provided us with floorplans for our living and family rooms and shopped with me to select items for both rooms. The floorplans enabled us to shop efficiently and maximize floorspace with adequate room for traffic flow and overall comfort. She brings a deep knowledge and creative eye to her projects and our home was the beneficiary!
