This Northport space was inspired by landscape designs that can be found in the Hamptons. Keeping angles straight, we used 24x24 bluestone slabs in a linear pattern without borders. We solved the grading issue by creating two levels with Cambridge Matrix 3" wall stone in Onyx Natural to complement the beautiful bluestone. We softened the landscape with boxwoods, hydrangeas, and added arborvitaes for privacy. Deck jets were added for a fun yet elegant touch. For the front entrance, a gravel driveway/courtyard (as in true Hamptons fashion) and natural stone steps welcomes visitors.

This West University Master Bathroom remodel was quite the challenge. Our design team rework the walls in the space along with a structural engineer to create a more even flow. In the begging you had to walk through the study off master to get to the wet room. We recreated the space to have a unique modern look. The custom vanity is made from Tree Frog Veneers with countertops featuring a waterfall edge. We suspended overlapping circular mirrors with a tiled modular frame. The tile is from our beloved Porcelanosa right here in Houston. The large wall tiles completely cover the walls from floor to ceiling . The freestanding shower/bathtub combination features a curbless shower floor along with a linear drain. We cut the wood tile down into smaller strips to give it a teak mat affect. The wet room has a wall-mount toilet with washlet. The bathroom also has other favorable features, we turned the small study off the space into a wine / coffee bar with a pull out refrigerator drawer.

HDBros The clients wanted a unique and spa-like master bath retreat to complement their already beautiful downtown loft. They wanted design solutions and attention to detail that would help distinguish their duplex apartment as a one-of-a-kind space tailored to their specific needs. The existing master bath did not have the sleek contemporary look they prefer, and the shower was too small. We enlarged the shower by removing a tub in an adjacent hall bath. The clients were willing to change the full hall bath into a powder room as they already had two full baths on the lower level. A simple palette of white, gray, and black enhances the contemporary design. We removed the wall between the master and hall bath, removed the hall bath tub, and built a new wall. We had to install all new plumbing rough-ins for the new fixtures. The new shower is 7-feet 9-inches by 4-feet -- enlarged from the original 4-foot square – with a linear drain in the floor. • The owners selected a river rock floor to provide acupressure and an organic touch to the modern room. • The black back wall has a large niche set with the same contrasting white tile as the side walls. The niche is outlined with metal trim. • Adding drama and the feel of a waterfall is an oversized 23-inch square rain head in the ceiling. The clients wanted two benches. Our crew mounted stainless steel L-brackets on the side walls. Our countertop fabricator routed the underside of the engineered quartz benches so the brackets sit flush. The clients also wanted a steam shower, so the glass doors span from the base to the tiled ceiling. We angled the shower ceiling such that the condensation drips would float back to the rear wall instead of straight down. Also set in the walls are waterproof blue-tooth enabled speakers. The clients were inspired by a photo of a countertop with dual ramp sinks. However, there were no references or design information. Our team stepped up to the challenge and created a detailed shop drawings with consultations between our designer, stone fabricator, and in-house plumber. A concealed tank/wall hung toilet fits the clean design lines. We installed the tank in the existing wall which had 2x6 framing. The toilet’s bidet seat (with remote control) required an electrical circuit. In one corner of the bathroom is a single unit wall-mounted drawer with five floating shelves above. The towel bars that are attached to each shelf are appliance pulls. The room has layers of light, including LED strips under the toilet, vanity, and shelving to highlight the floating/wall mounted units. The medicine cabinets have surface mounted lights, and there are recessed lights in the room, as well as in the shower. We also renovated the hall powder room with new flooring, vanity, and fixtures.

This remodel consisted of a whole house transformation. We took this 3 bedroom dated home and turned it into a 5 bedroom award winning showpiece, all without an addition. By reworking the awkward floor plan and lowering the living room floor to be level with the rest of the house we were able to create additional space within the existing footprint of the home. What was once the small lack-luster master suite, is now 2 kids bedrooms that share a jack and jill bath. The master suite was relocated to the first floor, and the kitchen that was located right at the front door, is now located in the back of the home with great access to the patio overlooking the golf course. This original 90’s home was in dire need of a major refresh. The kitchen was totally reimagined and designed to incorporate all of the clients needs from and oversized panel ready Sub Zero, spacious island with prep sink and wine storage, floor to ceiling pantry, endless drawer space, and a marble wall with floating brushed brass shelves with integrated lighting. The powder room cleverly utilized leftover marble from the kitchen to create a custom floating vanity for the powder to great effect. The satin brass wall mounted faucet and patterned wallpaper worked out perfectly. The ensuite was enlarged and totally reinvented. From floor to ceiling book matched Statuario slabs of Laminam, polished nickel hardware, oversized soaker tub, integrated LED mirror, floating shower bench, linear drain, and frameless glass partitions this ensuite spared no luxury. The all new walk-in closet boasts over 100 lineal feet of floor to ceiling storage that is well illuminated and laid out to include a make-up table, luggage storage, 3-way angled mirror, twin islands with drawer storage, shoe and boot shelves for easy access, accessory storage compartments and built-in laundry hampers.

This home remodel is a celebration of curves and light. Starting from humble beginnings as a basic builder ranch style house, the design challenge was maximizing natural light throughout and providing the unique contemporary style the client’s craved. The Entry offers a spectacular first impression and sets the tone with a large skylight and an illuminated curved wall covered in a wavy pattern Porcelanosa tile. The chic entertaining kitchen was designed to celebrate a public lifestyle and plenty of entertaining. Celebrating height with a robust amount of interior architectural details, this dynamic kitchen still gives one that cozy feeling of home sweet home. The large “L” shaped island accommodates 7 for seating. Large pendants over the kitchen table and sink provide additional task lighting and whimsy. The Dekton “puzzle” countertop connection was designed to aid the transition between the two color countertops and is one of the homeowner’s favorite details. The built-in bistro table provides additional seating and flows easily into the Living Room. A curved wall in the Living Room showcases a contemporary linear fireplace and tv which is tucked away in a niche. Placing the fireplace and furniture arrangement at an angle allowed for more natural walkway areas that communicated with the exterior doors and the kitchen working areas. The dining room’s open plan is perfect for small groups and expands easily for larger events. Raising the ceiling created visual interest and bringing the pop of teal from the Kitchen cabinets ties the space together. A built-in buffet provides ample storage and display. The Sitting Room (also called the Piano room for its previous life as such) is adjacent to the Kitchen and allows for easy conversation between chef and guests. It captures the homeowner’s chic sense of style and joie de vivre.

This kitchen was a huge challenge due to the shape of the walls and the shape of the island. The existing layout made it dark, uninviting and had no space for food prep, storage nor seating. We had to custom build the cabinets to fit the different angles. We used Bellmont ERA Allure maple cabinets with Acrylic doors in gloss pure white. Also the client did not want the downdraft in the island and wanted a Hood over the island. Which posed more challenges. So we solved it by building a floating box over the long island to hide the venting. We added up-lighting to the floating box to add a dramatic effect. Next we installed a new Cambria Quartz countertop in Seagrove and a Sequoia Polished Linear Mosaic backsplash. We installed the backsplash vertically to give the illusion of a taller space. The end result was a bright, open and modern kitchen with tons of workspace, storage and seating.

Taragano Design & Build completed this stair landing as part of a whole house remodel in Contra Costa County, California. Stairwells are the darkest part of most houses. They sit in the center of the plan with no exterior wall, and the standard answer is a fixture that runs all day. Here the roof was opened instead and the ceiling folded into planes that carry light down from four recessed skylights. The geometry is doing work, not decoration. Each plane catches light at a different angle and bounces it toward the floor below, so the landing receives indirect daylight rather than a hard shaft falling in one spot. Angled surfaces distribute what a flat ceiling would concentrate. Every skylight is recessed with no visible frame from inside. That detail requires the opening to be framed and finished as part of the ceiling assembly rather than trimmed out afterward, which is a framing decision made months before any drywall goes up. Finishes were held to nothing at all. White plaster on every surface, so the only thing the eye reads is the light and the form holding it. Licensed general contractor, CSLB #1143420. Soft Line mounting hardware for indirect lighting uses white or RGB LED Soft Strip (sold separately) to provide soft, ambient, indirect illumination for decorative and architectural applications. For compact shipment and storage, Soft Line coils like a retractable tape measure. When uncoiled, the Soft Line becomes a 1 inch wide cupped aluminum channel that can be mounted on any angle between opposing wall, ceiling or floor surfaces. Available in 20 and 40 feet lengths. Soft Line is field-cuttable, making it easy to configure custom lengths up to 40 feet. The suspended line, 1 to 2 feet away from the surface, indirectly illuminates with the use of the any LED Soft Strip (sold separately). This cupped form contributes to the luminaires structural rigidity, acts as a heatsink, and also shields the LED light source and related wiring from view. For indirect, warm white LED use SS2P-WW 12V or 24V.
