This living room exudes fun with the multi-colored Turkish rug, the zebra print cowhide chair and the original mulit-media art piece in various shades of green. The rift and quarter-sawn white oak floors were all custom from Vermont, and the coffee table is also white oak with a white marble top. Both the oatmeal linen sofa, which is 9' long, and chairs are slipcovered for ease of cleaning in a lakeside setting.

Concrete counter tops add to the solid feel of this grand mountain home. Custom cabinets complete the look with the rustic hood serving as the centerpiece of this mountain modern kitchen.

I started by redesigning their fireplace with a stacked stone surround, travertine herringbone hearth and I had my handyman make me a rustic wood mantel. Above, we mounted the TV, but it was quite unsightly, so we hung a mirrored cabinet over it to hide it. Next up were the rustic wood clad walls. I wanted to bring some warmth and texture to the space by adding a wood element. I had the same handyman install this labor of love. A new chandelier replaced the old ceiling fan, new custom drapes were installed, the chest of drawers was repainted and all furnishings and decor are new with the exception of the coffee table and a side table. The result is another simple, rustic and cozy space to relax with family and friends.

Kitchen - mid-sized transitional kitchen idea in New York with an island

The design of the cabin began with the client’s discovery of an old mirror which had once been part of a hall tree. A custom vanity was fashioned to match the details on the antique mirror and a textured iron vessel sink sits atop. Polished nickel faucets, cast iron tub, and old fashioned toilet are from Herbeau.
