This project took us a bit off our usual path—and we loved the challenge. It began as a straightforward bid to re-side a local HOA’s swimming pool patio using Hardie stucco panels. But as the scope expanded, so did our role. We were tapped to completely rebuild their bathrooms to meet ADA compliance standards. With no air conditioning in the space, we chose materials built to perform: Hardie stucco sheet paired with Sherwin Williams Rain Refresh Paint throughout. It was a project outside our typical scope, but thanks to our versatile and skilled team, we delivered results that exceeded expectations. Got a unique project in mind? The Home The St. Julien features a flex space that is designed as a sitting area for gathering the family. As you walk upstairs, the kitchen features a large eat-in island that looks into the great room. Off the kitchen is a space that functions as an office or homework area. Moving through the great room, the sliding glass door opens to a spacious deck. Upstairs features two secondary bedrooms and a primary suite. The master suite bathroom includes a walk-in shower, walk-in closet and separate water closet. The Interior Design The interior design of this home has a natural feeling to it with earth tones and light woods that brings the outdoors in. To achieve this, a soft, sage green and denim blue were used with a wheat tone to pull in the wood and create a balanced palette. Unique patterns in the rugs and art add points of interest, and natural textures in the linens and softgoods provide contrast. A hint of craftsman design rounds out the space and provides a comforting home in which to gather.

This gorgeous custom wine cellar acts as a dramatic entrypiece as you walk into this beautiful home in San Juan Capistrano, Orange County, California. San Juan Capistrano is a lovely community located slightly inland, tucked within Orange County near cities like Newport Beach, Lake Forest, Huntington Beach, Costa Mesa, Dana Point, Laguna Niguel, Laguna Hills, and Irvine. This fantastically designed wine cellar, courtesy of the master wine cellar builders at Vintage Cellars, is a unique representation of fun and bespoke features that can be incorporated into a traditional redwood, yet modern and bright wine cellar like this. The wine room draws you in from across the house, with its warm redwood tones and interesting wrought iron and glass door. Wine Cellar doors are often overlooked, but proper knowledge of door materials, glass specifications, threshold placement and hanging procedures are key to creating that perfect airtight room. Additionally, based on the location of your room within your home, the amount of glass in your wine cellar, and your location in the world, levels of cooling capacity need to be seriously considered. Glass is a naturally poor insulator. Kim and Jenna opted for an industrial style for their loft apartment's kitchen. They decided on a design that merges materials like stone and wood, utilizes straightforward cabinets, and integrated appliances to mirror their city style. The countertop, crafted from DEKTON stone, includes an integrated sink for a cohesive appearance. ‍ The kitchen is priced at $12,534. Evelyn and her husband installed the kitchen themselves. “Being fairly handy, we thought that with the detailed IKD drawings, we could handle doing it ourselves. While there were some tougher sections, most of the kitchen install was straightforward and we’re happy that we didn’t need to hire anyone,” she says. “The main obstacle was fitting the refrigerator and a small cabinet along the wall next to the oven. Since we have a patio door there, which we didn’t want to move, we had to work with the space we had,” she adds. To solve this, they swapped out the existing refrigerator with a new 30”-wide fridge, leaving just enough space to fit a 12” cabinet between the fridge and stove.

We presented options for the addition, showcasing designs that married simplicity with elegance. The first options featured straightforward roofing solutions, while the final design embraced the home's curves, incorporating the graceful rounded windows, entryway, and chimney. We crafted the addition with a stunning barrel ceiling adorned with rich walnut wood paneling and accent lighting, creating an inviting atmosphere. After careful consideration, the clients chose the more intricate design, perfectly complementing their home's aesthetic. To elevate the space, we added a round window and an arched window in the kitchen, enhancing its character. In the living area, they selected a Nana Wall door, allowing for a harmonious flow between indoors and the outdoor entertainment space. The kitchen showcases exquisite walnut cabinets, accented with white painted cabinets in a sleek shallow shaker style. The 2cm Dekton countertops & backsplash were designed with an island height of 2 1/4 inches, creating a more dynamic space. As passionate cooks and bakers, the clients chose Wolf and SubZero appliances, panel-ready to harmonize beautifully with their kitchen design. This project turned out breathtakingly, and the clients are overjoyed to possess a kitchen that embodies beauty and functionality, exceeding their dreams and aspirations.

The cabinet is the primary built feature in the master bedroom of the House on Lake Okoboji. Made from horizontally-laminated Baltic Birch plywood with veneer edges exposed, the front of the cabinet becomes a large headboard for the bed, facing the lake view. Studying the morphology of rippling water, we developed a computer animation of the water’s surface, optimized it for fabrication, and output code for a 3-axis cnc-router. Here, the uniqueness of the supple surface is contrasted by the repetitive horizontality of the veneer layers – a straightforward and manual application of material (stacking) contrasts the advanced computational technology of its formation. The home’s main living room area is decorated in a very cool, sparse way with plenty of nods to mid-century design. A new kitchen would need to bridge classic and modern notions of Mid-Century expression through the style’s characteristic clean lines and artistic notions of simplicity and straightforward functionality. The idea was to keep a hint of mid-century influence in a modern design that could somehow be more open while accommodating more storage The objectives were: • Stay within the existing space while creating an open feel and winning more storage room • Make the space brighter while using a darker cabinet finish • Create proper ventilation for the range Design challenges we solved for: • Open the kitchen to the adjacent dining room without sacrificing storage • Remove multiple layers of flooring to make the kitchen floor level with the rest of the house • Match the new kitchen flooring to the flooring in nearby dining and living spaces Problems solved. Here’s what we did: • Took out soffits around the kitchen to allow for taller cabinets with more storage • Added cabinet pull-outs that maximize under-cabinet storage space • Used large cabinets in standard sizes • Skipped cabinets on the window wall, opting for space- and light-friendly floating shelves • Enhanced overall brightness with bright, white counters and textured white tile that offered a connecting contrast to the darker woodgrain cabinets • Took out a post between the kitchen and dining room to make the space feel more open • Added under-cabinet lights – unobtrusive and handy for task lighting The owners love the look, feel and functionality of their new kitchen. This Buckley home received a full roof replacement using CertainTeed Landmark shingles in Georgetown Gray, giving the 3,300 sq. ft. property a clean, refreshed look. While the project was straightforward, we improved the home’s ventilation by installing 17 new attic vents to support long-term roof performance. After the main installation was complete, we returned to replace the homeowner’s skylight—a standard, roof-safe process that allows for upgrades without compromising the new roofing system. The final result is a durable, well-ventilated roof designed to serve the home for decades.

It’s a 3 sided box, which has been carefully deconstructed to a sculptural state. The careful composition of overlap and void create interest and complexity to a very straightforward, well-functioning wall sconce. The tectonic disconnection in form allows you to witness the solid American black walnut’s grain as it travels through each solid block.
