H2D Architecture + Design developed a comprehensive vision for the renovation of this Bellevue residence, creating a cohesive master plan that can be implemented in phased construction to align with the homeowners' priorities, budget, and timeline. The first phase reimagined the primary suite, including a redesigned bathroom, reconfigured closet and bedroom. Strategic space planning enhanced the functionality and flow of each space while creating a serene, spa-inspired retreat tailored to the homeowners' lifestyle. Future phases will transform the home's main living areas through a complete reconfiguration of the kitchen, dining room, entry, and living room. The design will improve circulation, increase functionality, and create light-filled, beautifully connected spaces.

We had a tight timeline to turn a dark, outdated kitchen into a modern, family-friendly space that could function as the hub of the home. We enlarged the footprint of the kitchen by changing the orientation and adding an island for better circulation. We swapped out old tile flooring for durable luxury vinyl tiles, dark wood panels for fresh drywall, outdated cabinets with modern Semihandmade ones, and added brand new appliances. We made it modern and warm by adding matte tiles from Heath, new light fixtures, and an open shelf of beautiful ceramics in cool neutrals.

Perceptions designer Andrea Mason creates a cool space for a very cool kid. Using a sophisticated palette of deep gray on the walls and floor support punched up accents in vibrant orange and chartreuse. This smart design will evolve with ease as the little occupant transitions from tween to teen. A simple swap of the trucks with books and the colorful art with posters and this will become the perfect hangout for a brooding teenage boy!

Over the course of six weeks we took their home from slightly outdated to stylishly modern. We began our work in the kitchen. Their existing space included oak raised panel cabinets and laminate countertops. We identified two problems right off the bat. First, the kitchen was home to an unfortunately placed island that broke up the room and made for horrible traffic flow. Second, the family was “oaked out,” with obviously dated oak cabinets abounding. The homeowners also requested that their countertops be replaced with a durable and low-maintenance material.
To begin, we replaced the island and created a peninsula to open up the kitchen. We upgraded the cabinets with Showplace Wood cherry cabinets in a truffle finish that matched the home’s entertainment center in the adjacent living room. Next, we replaced the family’s door with a Showplace Wood Concord style for a more modern feel. Finally, we swapped the existing laminate counters with Cambria natural quartz countertops in the Canterbury finish for a beautiful, maintenance free work surface.
Moving into the laundry room, we installed matching cabinets in this space as well. Last but not least, we installed new Wilsonart HD countertops and a Swanstone sink. With the remodel complete, we checked in with our homeowners and are happy to report pleased customers all around!

"My ash countertops came out gorgeous and I’m really pleased with the quality and craftsmanship delivered by the Hardwood Lumber Company. They are very sturdy and the wood strips are all full-length. They also made sure to swap the grain angle of each piece to minimize warping. I chose unfinished wood and used walnut oil on them after installation- it really brought out a lot of character in the wood and made them even more lovely." Laurel

The claw foot tub forms an elegant centerpiece for this traditional bathroom design, and is complemented by the surrounding porcelain tile with a built-in storage niche. The warm color scheme in this bathroom is completed with the Knotty Alder vanity cabinets, and the glass-enclosed shower includes a rainfall shower head and built-in storage shelf.
