The original kitchen was disjointed and lacked connection to the home and its history. The remodel opened the room to other areas of the home by incorporating an unused breakfast nook and enclosed porch to create a spacious new kitchen. It features stunning soapstone counters and range splash, era appropriate subway tiles, and hand crafted floating shelves. Ceasarstone on the island creates a durable, hardworking surface for prep work. A black Blue Star range anchors the space while custom inset fir cabinets wrap the walls and provide ample storage. Great care was given in restoring and recreating historic details for this charming Foursquare kitchen.

What this Mid-century modern home originally lacked in kitchen appeal it made up for in overall style and unique architectural home appeal. That appeal which reflects back to the turn of the century modernism movement was the driving force for this sleek yet simplistic kitchen design and remodel. This large kitchen was updated with natural wood cabinetry, offset with a painted blue oversized island, and quartz countertops with integrated sinks. The bronze plumbing fixtures and hardware contribute to the warm and inviting mood of the space. Zellige wall tile and terra cotta floor tile add a handmade and old world feel to this new space. A coffee station is hidden behind bifold doors to keep the space clean and tidy.

Along the teak-paneled kitchen wall, sliding and pocketing doors open to reveal additional work and storage space, a coffee station and wine bar. Architecture and interior design by Pierre Hoppenot, Studio PHH Architects.

The kitchen is a mix of existing and new cabinets that were made to match. Marmoleum (a natural sheet linoleum) flooring sets the kitchen apart in the home’s open plan. It is also low maintenance and resilient underfoot. Custom stainless steel countertops match the appliances, are low maintenance and are, uhm, stainless!

This modern lake house is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The residence overlooks a mountain lake with expansive mountain views beyond. The design ties the home to its surroundings and enhances the ability to experience both home and nature together. The entry level serves as the primary living space and is situated into three groupings; the Great Room, the Guest Suite and the Master Suite. A glass connector links the Master Suite, providing privacy and the opportunity for terrace and garden areas. Won a 2013 AIANC Design Award. Featured in the Austrian magazine, More Than Design. Keeping electronics and charger cords out of the way this shallow cabinet makes use of unused space to create a charging station. Classic white kitchen designed and built by Jewett Farms + Co. Functional for family life with a design that will stand the test of time. White cabinetry, soapstone perimeter counters and marble island top. Hand scraped walnut floors.
