The entry to our client's home is occupied by "The Road To Regina", a four-panel, 11' x 9' etched glass mural. We were asked to choose the hardware as well, and the selection of the angular hand-made bronze pulls became the focal point of the design. It emanates from the center in several one-of-a-kind textures of etched and carved techniques. The background is laid out in a grid pattern juxtaposed to a lightly etched surface field.

This remarkable freestanding elliptical staircase creates a spectacular architectural moment. Three flights rise gracefully through the house, featuring soft light-stained oak treads and handrail that blend seamlessly with the home's hardwood flooring. Crisp white stringers and risers provide a clean foundation, allowing the natural wood warmth to shine. The defining feature is the geometric black wrought-iron balusters. It is the contrast between organic curves and precise geometry, natural wood and forged metal, that creates a staircase that's both elegant and dramatic.

Kitchen/dining room combo - large contemporary light wood floor kitchen/dining room combo idea in Los Angeles with gray walls and no fireplace

Our studio gave this home a fresh, inviting remodel. In the kitchen, we combined modern appliances and clean lines with a rustic touch using bright wood, burnished bronze fittings, and geometric tiles. A unique extension on one end of the kitchen island adds extra space for cooking and dining. The living room fireplace got a stunning art deco makeover with deep wood trim, Rookwood-style tilework, and vintage decor. In the bathroom, intriguing geometry, a light palette, and a shaded window create a luxe vibe, while the double sink and plentiful storage make it incredibly functional.

Part of the design intent was to create a much larger connection between the great room space and the family room space, versus a previously 6-foot wide opening with doors between the two. We made the opening as large as possible so that we could have that visual connection and all the light coming through from Lake Michigan. Panel molding that was deconstructed during the widening of the opening was recreated using the same geometry and trim, so it is indiscernible from the original woodwork.

Designed by the homeowners themselves, this striking staircase rises through multiple levels with architectural precision. Dark-toned square balusters and newels create bold contrast against crisp white risers, while horizontal stainless steel rods maintain visual lightness.
The brilliance lies in the interplay of angles, levels, textures, and natural light. Strategic design choices transform the staircase into more than a connector. It carves out cozy sunny nooks and creates focal points throughout the open floor plan, proving that thoughtful geometry can shape how a home feels and functions.

Our clients Kevin and Nathan, are new residents of Madison, Wisconsin. They found us online not long after buying their home. They visited our office to interview Dave Duewel, Senior Designer, and Abe Degnan, President of Degnan Design-Build-Remodel. Dave shared a recently-designed contemporary project full of texture and geometry, so Kevin and Nathan quickly chose to engage us to begin their lower-level bar design.

Our new collection of wrought iron doors provides superior sound and heat insulation. The solid metal construction prevents rust, while the wrought iron insert inside the glass unit eliminates the need for maintenance and keeps the door looking new for years.
Special feature is the use of durable aluminum profiles that improve both strength and appearance.
Furthermore, VDom Doors protect your home from extreme weather conditions, insects, and dust infiltration.
Our doors offer several key advantages:
- The structure is made from a single, non-welded metal sheet, which prevents internal condensation and extends the lifespan of the door mechanisms.
- Reinforced stiffening ribs inside the frame increase resistance to impact and mechanical stress.
- High-quality insulation materials help reduce external noise and protect against heat loss and cold penetration.
Each door is designed and assembled with precision. The solid iron frame and aluminum threshold provide durability and stability, while the clean, balanced design ensures the door fits a wide range of architectural styles.

From its colour-scheme to its geometry, this kitchen is right up with the times. Its combined table and island makes it a perfect link between living and cooking areas.

In this composition, restraint becomes the defining characteristic. The clean geometry of the horizontal black rod railing pairs effortlessly with warm wood elements, allowing the staircase to integrate with quiet confidence rather than overt display. The treads, newels, and handrail are finished in a refined taupe-brown stain that adds depth and softness, while crisp white risers introduce a subtle luminosity that enhances the surrounding architecture. The result is a staircase that feels effortless at first glance yet reveals itself as a carefully considered study in proportion, material balance, and disciplined design.
