This 5BD / 3BA home was purchased by our client in an auction, after a year of being unoccupied. This 1st Phase scope included updating 3 bathrooms, interior & exterior paint, a complete lighting plan, converting their wood-burning fireplace to an electric fireplace; adding LED-lit wood paneling to the fireplace wall, and curating, procuring and placing furnishings, linens, and some decor pieces throughout the home. After the dining room chandelier is installed, we will have our professional “after” photo session. The Client’s design vision is “Pacific Northwest Vibe” for this personal chef concept Airbnb. The 2nd Phase will include updating the flooring and kitchen.

Intentional. Elevated. Artisanal.
With three children under the age of 5, our clients were starting to feel the confines of their Pacific Heights home when the expansive 1902 Italianate across the street went on the market. After learning the home had been recently remodeled, they jumped at the chance to purchase a move-in ready property. We worked with them to infuse the already refined, elegant living areas with subtle edginess and handcrafted details, and also helped them reimagine unused space to delight their little ones.
Elevated furnishings on the main floor complement the home’s existing high ceilings, modern brass bannisters and extensive walnut cabinetry. In the living room, sumptuous emerald upholstery on a velvet side chair balances the deep wood tones of the existing baby grand. Minimally and intentionally accessorized, the room feels formal but still retains a sharp edge—on the walls moody portraiture gets irreverent with a bold paint stroke, and on the the etagere, jagged crystals and metallic sculpture feel rugged and unapologetic. Throughout the main floor handcrafted, textured notes are everywhere—a nubby jute rug underlies inviting sofas in the family room and a half-moon mirror in the living room mixes geometric lines with flax-colored fringe.
On the home’s lower level, we repurposed an unused wine cellar into a well-stocked craft room, with a custom chalkboard, art-display area and thoughtful storage. In the adjoining space, we installed a custom climbing wall and filled the balance of the room with low sofas, plush area rugs, poufs and storage baskets, creating the perfect space for active play or a quiet reading session. The bold colors and playful attitudes apparent in these spaces are echoed upstairs in each of the children’s imaginative bedrooms.

Our Modern Farmhouse Style reflects in our own personal kitchen and working showroom. The warmth of the Walnut Butcher Block sets the scene for gathering and also for long baking sessions. The Silestone Quartz countertop around the perimeter makes it for easy clean up - especially around the range area. That heavy cooking zone features a custom PPKD built wood hood with all the detailing in the crown molding. The glass hutch serves as a perfect every day dish cabinet, while glass on the range wall also helps to lighten up the heavy load. The Farmhouse sink provides a beautiful clean-up station with the bridge faucet to add beauty and tradition. The purifier is strategically set up near the coffee station for early morning risers. The refrigerator is built into an old walkway that was under-used and it provides the perfect spot to house a hard working appliance. The dishwasher is paneled and tucked away beside the sink while the double pull-out trash is also camoflauged adjacent to the sink.
We welcome you to make your Design Consult Appointment today so you can come and see the beauty, quality, and special touches we will put in your home, as we did with ours.

Dining Room in French Country inspired furnishings project. Project scope included selecting new flooring and refurnishing the entry, living room, and dining room of this family home. The client's heirloom dining set and some existing art and accessories was inspiration for the French Country influence. We reupholstered and refurbished the chairs. This budget friendly furnishings project needed to include a pull-out sofa for overnight guests, and curtains for light control when used for sleeping, plenty of seating for hosting gatherings, and storage for some supplies and instruments for family jam sessions.

As with most projects, it all started with the kitchen layout. The home owners came to us wanting to upgrade their kitchen and overall aesthetic in their suburban home, with a combination of fresh paint, updated finishes, and improved flow for more ease when doing everyday activities.
A monochromatic, earth-toned palette left the kitchen feeling uninspired. It lacked the brightness they wanted from their space. An eat-in table underutilized the available square footage. The butler’s pantry was out of the way and hard to access, and the dining room felt detached from the kitchen.
Lead Designer, Stephanie Cole, saw an improved layout for the spaces that were no longer working for this family. By eliminating an existing wall between the kitchen and dining room, and relocating the bar area to the dining room, we opened up the kitchen, providing all the space we needed to create a dreamy and functional layout. A new perimeter configuration promoted circulation while also making space for a large and functional island loaded with seating – a must for any family. Because an island that isn’t big enough for everyone (and a few more) is a recipe for disaster. The light white cabinetry is fresh and contrasts with the deeper tones in the wood flooring, creating a modern aesthetic that is elevated, yet approachable for everyday living.
With better flow as the overarching goal, we made some structural changes too. To remove a bottleneck in the entryway, we angled one of the dining room walls to create more natural separation between rooms and facilitate ease of movement throughout the large space.
At The Kitchen Studio, we believe a well-designed kitchen uses every square inch to the fullest. By starting from scratch, it was possible to rethink the entire kitchen layout and design the space according to how it is used, because the kitchen shouldn’t make it harder to feed the family. A new location for the existing range, flanked by a new column refrigerator and freezer on each side, worked to anchor the space. The very large and very spacious island (a dream island if we do say so ourselves) now houses the primary sink and provides ample space for food prep and family gathering.
The new kitchen table and coordinating banquette seating provide a cozy nook for quick breakfasts before school or work, and evening homework sessions. Elegant gold details catch the natural light, elevating the aesthetic.
The dining room was transformed into one of this client’s favorite spaces and we couldn’t agree more. We saw an opportunity to give the dining room a more distinguished identity by closing off the entrance from the foyer. The relocated wet bar enhances the sophisticated vibe of this gathering space, complete with beautiful antique mirror tiles and open shelving encased by moody built-in cabinets.
Updated furnishings add warmth. A rich walnut table is paired with custom chairs in a muted coral fabric. The large, transitional chandelier grounds the room, pairing beautifully with the gold finishes prevalent in the faucet and cabinet hardware. Linen-inspired wallpaper and cream-toned window treatments add to the glamorous feel of this entertainment space.
There is no way around it. The laundry room was cramped. The large washer and dryer blocked access to the sink and left little room for the space to serve its other essential function – as a mudroom. Because we reworked the kitchen layout to create more space overall, we could rethink the mudroom too – an essential for any busy family. The first step was moving the washer and dryer to an existing area on the second floor, where most of the family’s laundry lives (no one wants to carry laundry up and down the stairs if they don’t have to anyway). This is a more functional solution and opened up the space for all the mudroom necessities – including the existing kitchen refrigerator, loads of built-in cubbies, and a bench.
It’s hard to not fall in love with every detail of a new space, especially when it serves your day-to-day life. But that doesn’t mean the clients didn’t have their favorite features they use on the daily. This remodel was focused largely on function with a new kitchen layout. And it’s the functional features that have the biggest impact. The large island provides much needed workspace in the kitchen and is a spot where everyone gathers together – it grounds the space and the family. And the custom counter stools are the icing on the cake. The nearby mudroom has everything their previous space was lacking – ample storage, space for everyone’s essentials, and the beloved cement floor tiles that are both durable and artistic.

This kitchen is headquarters for Australian chef Dan Churchill. The kitchen — previously a walk-in cooler in a Nolita basement — provides Churchill with a clean and bright backdrop in which to develop and document his colorful dishes. A faux window mimics the effects of natural light, while shallow track lighting provides videographers with flexibility during filming sessions. Non-toxic and sustainable materials echo the healthy plates crafted by Churchill.

This 2022 project was a fully custom mix and writing suite designed for multi-Grammy and Dove Award–winning producer and songwriter Kyle Lee. The goal was to create an environment that mirrors his creative workflow—quiet, natural, highly accurate, and intentionally crafted for long sessions of collaboration and focused work.
The layout is compact but feels open thanks to high ceilings, soft daylight from the surrounding windows, and a palette of warm textures and natural materials. The room maintains a clean, grounded aesthetic without sacrificing technical performance, balancing style and acoustical precision in a way that supports both creativity and accuracy.
Acoustic isolation was a core priority. The suite is fully separated from the rest of the home using sound-reducing wall assemblies, custom bass management including a full soft-ceiling trap and a false rear wall trap, and full-lite doors designed for controlled leakage. The result is a private, self-contained environment that integrates seamlessly with the home’s flow yet transforms into a focused creative space the moment the doors close.
Monitoring was built around Kyle’s preferred ATC SCM45A loudspeakers, paired with Dynaudio subwoofers and calibrated specifically to the room’s frequency response. Every treatment, material, and speaker position was selected to ensure what Kyle hears while mixing precisely translates to the final master.
The finished suite delivers an effortless feel with professional-grade performance—an inspiring, accurate, and dependable space built to support Kyle’s work at the highest level.

Custom, luxurious window treatments which have been tailored to the highest standards are a particular speciality for Grunberger Interiors.
The market is filled with bland, cookie cutter fabric and trim offerings provided by retailers who are salespeople first and designers second. The results are boring and uninspired, and all too often leave the homeowner feeling that something's still missing in their home's design.
Window treatments are so much more than a means to gain privacy and light filtration. Whilst this is very important, before you rush to cover up your windows, you should instead be thinking about how these coverings could be an important vehicle to realize your home's potential and make a powerful design statement.
My approach is to always think out of the box to develop fabric design schemes that are truly unique and eye catching. They tell a story of who you are and what you love. You won't find these selections and combinations at your local store. Your home's decor will shine and your experience of your spaces will be enhanced.
The process begins with my window treatment and soft furnishings consultation, which is a comprehensive design working design session filled with exiting ideas, inspiration and solutions. I bring a bespoke tray of carefully curated fabrics, trims, and wallpaper - your introduction to a world of possibilities.
After a design direction has been established, I will source beautiful fabrics and trims from a variety of trade resources, including the prestigious D&D building in Manhattan.
We shall reconvene and have an enjoyable, creative exchange of ideas and determine the perfect design scheme for each room. Professional measuring, frequent liaison with my bespoke workroom to ensure that every last detail has been addressed, followed by expert installation completes the design process.
