Back in 2020, before working from home became the norm, we embarked on a project to convert an unused formal dining room into a stunning home office. Little did we know how crucial this space would become in the following years. Our client was ahead of the curve, preparing for remote work with a beautifully designed home office. The focal point of this home office is the striking Navy cabinetry – our client’s favorite color – that not only adds a touch of personality to the space but also provides essential storage for books, files, and even pencil drawers. The room also features dedicated space for a copier, making it an efficient workspace for all needs. The centerpiece of the office is a natural maple desk that not only provides a spacious work area but also offers ample storage. Side shelves were cleverly incorporated for storing coloring supplies and books, making it a versatile space for both work and play. This primary bath was completely reimagined to better suit our clients’ lifestyle. The original space had a tiny shower, an unused tub, and a layout that wasn’t working. We transformed it with a larger, more comfortable shower, a bold pop of color in the tile, and a layout that feels practical yet stylish. The result is a fresh, functional space that our clients truly love.

APD was hired to update the kitchen, living room, primary bathroom and bedroom, and laundry room in this suburban townhome. The design brought an aesthetic that incorporated a fresh updated and current take on traditional while remaining timeless and classic. The kitchen layout moved cooking to the exterior wall providing a beautiful range and hood moment. Removing an existing peninsula and re-orienting the island orientation provided a functional floorplan while adding extra storage in the same square footage. A specific design request from the client was bar cabinetry integrated into the stair railing, and we could not be more thrilled with how it came together! The primary bathroom experienced a major overhaul by relocating both the shower and double vanities and removing an un-used soaker tub. The design added linen storage and seated beauty vanity while expanding the shower to a luxurious size. Dimensional tile at the shower accent wall relates to the dimensional tile at the kitchen backsplash without matching the two spaces to each other while tones of cream, taupe, and warm woods with touches of gray are a cohesive thread throughout.

This house was a project that I had started over a year ago. I was not sold with my original design and left this project to sit for a while. Recently I came across the floor plan and was once again inspired. I adjusted the floor plan slightly to fit the space better and was once again excited to work on this project. The second floor had originally taken up the same amount of space as the main floor, but there was too much unusable open space and long hallways. I adjusted the space to be more accessible and open.

This bathroom previously had an air-conditioning condensing unit installed right over the bathtub, making it unusable. When we removed the air-conditioning unit, we actually found an old window opening. We were able to install a new window to make it bright and beautiful with cozy under tile floor heating and amazing cabinetry.

A tiny kitchen and large unused dining room were combined to create a welcoming, eat in kitchen with the addition of a powder room, and space left for the doggies.

With sustainability in mind, this cheery and bright eclectic kitchen reused some elements from their old space to minimize their footprint. This craftsman bungalow had an old updated kitchen that offered a very inefficient layout with an awkward opening to the existing dining room. There was also a very shallow coat closet between the kitchen and living room that could not even fit a coat. The new kitchen layout captured that unusable closet space, as well as chimney space that was no longer needed for mechanical venting. A more traditional work triangle was created by rearranging the placement of the sink, gas range and refrigerator. A new archway that mimics an original archway at the dining room built-in now highlights the bright and cheery kitchen space while providing a new seating area at a peninsula that is opened up between the kitchen and dining room. The homeowner loved the vintage green color in their old cabinetry and wanted to keep that electric vintage styling in their new space. A custom, handmade tile backsplash in a neutral color adds texture while still letting the cabinetry be the star of the kitchen. Sustainability in mind, choices like Marmoleum flooring, formaldehyde free plywood cabinet boxes, and local sourcing for the tile were important to the clients. In addition to the kitchen project, they also added solar panels from All Energy Solar. The clients reused some elements from their old space also to keep their footprint minimal. The old gas range was reused, the cabinetry hardware, and a beautiful patterned drum shade light that sits in the center of the ceiling adding even more charm to the design. In the end, the thoughtfulness of style, materials and function, helped to give this special house an equally special place to cook and entertain.

This was an unused room that was converted into a bright and cheery guest bedroom. The blue and white color scheme creates a fresh look. Bedding and window treatments were kept simple to tie in with the coastal look of the furniture. The corner chair is a painted rattan with comfy upholstered cushions.

For this century old carriage house renovation in Wellington, Ontario, we stripped back the building to its original structure, carefully preserving what we could. By adding blown in cellulose, preserving the original wood beams, installing vetta windows triple paned windows, high performance air sealing, and incorporating solar panels, this unused space was transformed into a cozy living space with a privacy walled deck above a two car garage.

Complete Basement Conversion – Two Bedrooms, Two Bathrooms, and a Full Kitchen This remodel transformed a previously unused space beneath the home into a fully functional and modern living area. Starting from the studs, our team created a spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom layout with an open-concept kitchen and in-unit laundry. The in-progress photos show the early construction phase, including framing, plumbing, and electrical work. The finished space now features sleek, contemporary finishes—like quartz countertops, matte black fixtures, and custom cabinetry—bringing both style and functionality to this brand-new living area. Whether it’s for multigenerational living, a rental unit, or extra space for the family, this project showcases how we turn underutilized areas into beautiful, livable homes.

Our clients already had a cottage on Torch Lake that they loved to visit. It was a 1960s ranch that worked just fine for their needs. However, the lower level walkout became entirely unusable due to water issues. After purchasing the lot next door, they hired us to design a new cottage. Our first task was to situate the home in the center of the two parcels to maximize the view of the lake while also accommodating a yard area. Our second task was to take particular care to divert any future water issues. We took necessary precautions with design specifications to water proof properly, establish foundation and landscape drain tiles / stones, set the proper elevation of the home per ground water height and direct the water flow around the home from natural grade / drive. Our final task was to make appealing, comfortable, living spaces with future planning at the forefront. An example of this planning is placing a master suite on both the main level and the upper level. This was an empty and unused hallway between the living room and the master bedroom. We turned it into a functional and attractive space by adding a striking secretary, chair and clock.

camilleriparismode projects and design team were approached to rethink a previously unused double height room in a wonderful villa. the lower part of the room was planned as a sitting and dining area, the sub level above as a tv den and games room. as the occupants enjoy their time together as a family, as well as their shared love of books, a floor-to-ceiling library was an ideal way of using and linking the large volume. the large library covers one wall of the room spilling into the den area above. it is given a sense of movement by the differing sizes of the verticals and shelves, broken up by randomly placed closed cupboards. the floating marble fireplace at the base of the library unit helps achieve a feeling of lightness despite it being a complex structure, while offering a cosy atmosphere to the family area below. the split-level den is reached via a solid oak staircase, below which is a custom made wine room. the staircase is concealed from the dining area by a high wall, painted in a bold colour on which a collection of paintings is displayed. photos by: brian grech

Magnificent Basement Remodel in Chantilly VA that includes a movie theater, wine cellar, full bar, exercise room, full bedroom and bath, a powder room, and a big gaming and entertainment space. Now family has a big bar space with mahogany cabinetry, large-scale porcelain tile with a ledgestone wrapping , lots of space for bar seating, lots of glass cabinets for liquor and china display and magnificent lighting. The Guest bedroom suite with a bathroom has linear tiles and vertical glass tile accents that spruced up this bathroom. Gaming and conversation area with built-ins and wainscoting, give an upscale look to this magnificent basement. Also built just outside of exercise room, is a new powder room area. We used new custom beveled glass doors and interior doors. A 6’x8’ wine cellar was built with a custom glass door just few steps away from this stunning bar space. Behind the staircase we have implement a full equipped movie theater room furnished with state of art AV system, surround sound, big screen and a lot more. Our biggest goal for this space was to carefully ( yet softly) coordinate all color schemes to achieve a very airy, open and welcoming entertainment space. By creating two tray ceilings and recess lighting we have uplifted the unused corner of this basement. This has become the jewel of the neighborhood”, she said.
