DZ architecture
Washington D.C., DC Architects and Building Designers
January 5, 2017
My wife and I hired Mateusz to help plan the complete gut and renovation of our DC row house. Not only did he spend countless hours with us discussing the project's vision, Mateusz handled all communications and necessary follow-up with the General Contractor, Foreman, electricians, plumbers, and DCRA to ensure work was 100% to code, following his plans, and of high standard. From initial concepts to 3D renderings and final finishes, we are completely thrilled with our house and experienced a wonderful working relationship with him over the course of 12 months. Mateusz' background lends to a more contemporary, sleek & creative design. He was very accommodating to our many questions and "asks" while somehow keeping the project on schedule, and more importantly, on budget. We couldn't be more pleased! Mateusz is outstanding.
Saltbox Architecture

Our remodeling company has completed several projects with Saltbox over the past few years. The owners, Kevin and Alan, have consistently provided exceptional designs, excellent working drawings, have been creative and available whenever faced with construction challenges from the field crew and have always maintained cooperative relationships with our mutual clients and with sub-contractors. I recommend them highly and would welcome the opportunity to work with their team again.
AXIS ARCHITECTS

June 19, 2015
We have been extremely satisfied with the workmanship and professionalism of Sahnur Bostan of Axis Design Build. Sahnur has communicated with us constantly and has been thorough in all of the plans he has put together for us to date. Sahnur worked with us on designing a 4,500 square foot addition to to our home. We were happy with the ideas he came up with and the attention to detail with every aspect of the plan. He was a pleasure to work with and went above and beyond to make sure our needs and wants were incorporated into the plans. We would definitely recommend him and Axis Design Build for plans large or small.
DBMC Design
Washington D.C., DC Architects and Building Designers
February 15, 2020
Thank goodness we hired this team. We hired DBMC to design a whole-house renovation in Washington, DC. They provided architectural drawings, construction documents, and oversaw part of construction. The house was built in 1915 and we knew we wanted something very modern. This involved gutting the house and removing a structural wall. I am evaluating DBMC Design on 1) Competency 2) Responsiveness, and 3) Overall Quality. 1) Competency: From our first conversation, it was clear that they are an experienced and savvy group. We worked with David and Matthew. Each took time to understand the scope of our project, our vision, and the variables that might accompany renovating a 100+ year old house. They worked with equally competent Structural, Plumbing, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers. It was a good team, and this can be illustrated in that the permitting office requested only one change/clarification from the submitted drawings which otherwise sailed through that dreaded office. We have heard horror stories from others who wait several weeks or months for permits. We got ours in less than a week after first submission. 2) Responsiveness: Emails are usually returned within minutes, but never longer than a day. Phones are answered, and they even respond with immediacy to texts. This was extremely helpful when we needed to make fast decisions, even after their design was complete. When demolition revealed an unforeseen condition one afternoon, David, one of the principals, came to the job site by 10am the next day to assess. Within a day, we had an actionable plan, having involved his engineer partner, and the project stayed on track. This is a small firm, and they appear to be very agile. 3) Quality: We could not be happier with the finished project. The new home is beautiful and functions the way that we live. We believe they made good suggestions along the way to help us find cost-effective solutions without compromising our vision. In short. This firm "gets it." They're good, honorable people. They know what they're doing. They're very skilled at architectural design, and problem solving. We could not have asked for more and would recommend them without hesitation.

I was living in a dated condo made up of a series of rooms complete with a totally enclosed kitchen. When the dishwasher failed, I finally decided to take on a renovation that would transform my condo into more of an open concept arrangement. I hired Runningdog Architects to explore what could be done with the space. The result was a wonderful modernization of my home. With smart but simple moves, the entire character of my home was transformed from a series of enclosed rooms to a sequence of open spaces and captured views. The new arrangement is simultaneously set up for formal entertaining and easy living. Runningdog Architects was there from the initial concept sketches all the way through construction, always making the process as easy as possible for me. I couldn't be happier with the work of Eric Carle and Runningdog Architects.

Josh and Eric combine a sophisticated and experienced architectural design talent with a builders mentality for practicality of cost and construction. They are open for discussion with builders and tradespeople to get it right. They are responsive listeners, energetic, and have a positive outlook. I highly recommend their new firm and will continue to work with them. Jim Boyd - President - Design/Build Inc.
Purple Cherry Architects

June 29, 2013
I would highly reccomend Cathy Cherry. I had the pleasure of working with her on a house that she designed for Baldwin Homes for the Maryland Green Show Home. The area that I designed and furnished was the Kitchen, Eat-in Area and Great Room. I love how she designed the areas to be an open floor plan. I find that homeowners in this area of Maryland like open floor plans because it is a more interactive but, casual way of life. When I heard that Cathy was designing the home and wanted it to be a "tidal" home I knew that her style would fit hand in glove with my "Chesapeake Cozy" style. The architectural detail on the home was top notch. In my area, I particularly loved the strong columns. I repeated the detail in my custom built-ins flanking the fireplace. It was easy to plan the interior design around Cathy's classic taste! Gina Fitzsimmons, ASID
William L. Feeney Architect LLC
Washington D.C., DC Architects and Building Designers
April 23, 2013
We used Bill Feeney to remodel two bathrooms and a powder room. Bill and his team (i) prepared initial sketches and final drawings; (ii) helped select equipment, tiles, the general contractor, the cabinet maker and the counter-top supplier; and (iii) supervised construction and coordinated the various parties involved in the project. We initially interviewed several architects and selected Bill because we liked some of his earlier bathroom projects. Bill listened carefully to what we had in mind and came rapidly with interesting preliminary proposals and a budget. The combination of design, material and equipment selected has resulted in functional, neat and modern looking bathrooms and powder room. The general contractor, tile supplier, cabinet maker and counter-top supplier selected were all used to work with Bill and had a constructive work relation with him. Because Bill's office is located only a few blocks from our house, he could visit the construction site whenever necessary. He and his team were highly responsive to our requests and their coordination effort was indeed commendable. The project was implemented within budget; we spent about 15% of the total project cost for architect services. Altogether we had a very positive experience and would not hesitate recommending Bill for similar remodeling projects.
Jonathan Rivera Architecture
Washington D.C., DC Architects and Building Designers
November 17, 2014
Working with Jonathan Rivera on our custom home has been an incredible experience. We have worked with other architects, but Jonathan has exceeded our expectations in that he understood our direction, but improved upon it tremendously. His passion for our home, and his understanding of how to take all the facets of our project (our unique lot, our budget, our likes) and sketch out the home of our dreams is amazing! Jonathan's experience in all facets of custom home design has made what could be an incredibly over-whelming process truly delightful. Highly recommend!
Wentworth, Inc.
Washington D.C., DC Architects and Building Designers
October 8, 2013
Our kitchen and family room renovation was not our first construction project, having done 3 other major projects and built a house long-distance. We started this project with another design-build firm that has an excellent reputation in Washington, DC area, but we quickly severed that relationship--and walked away from our deposit--because neither the design nor the communication was what we wanted. The decision to change firms and start over ended up being a great decision. So we began interviewing--again. This time we hit the jackpot with Bruce Wentworth of Wentworth Inc. His three design proposals were inspired and gave us all of our wish list: walk-in pantry, no upper cabinets over the work areas (but lots of storage), large island, butler's pantry, clutter-free paper storage system, more open kitchen/family room, and overall a kitchen and family room that are a better fit for our 1926 house. We also had lots of little things that we wanted such as no outlets on the backsplash--no easy feat in those areas where we had no upper cabinets--and custom-designed pantry shelves, but they solved each item on my wish list, brilliantly. Before the construction began, we had a meeting so that we knew what to expect. Did any surprises arise? Of course they did--this is a house built in 1926! However, all those surprises were solved seamlessly by the design-build team. Any time I had a question or needed design advice, I was totally comfortable calling the architects and or talking with the lead carpenter, depending on what the question was. In addition, one of the architects went with me on all shopping trips to pick out, for instance, the countertops, the sink, the tile for the backsplash, the faucet, etc. Never was I sent to a showroom on my own. Sometimes, the architects had assembled the samples for me at their office and I made my decisions there. What an easy process that was, especially since the architects had already narrowed down the choices for me. All of the team members were professional, friendly, and as detail-oriented as I am. Oh, did I mention that the project was on budget AND on time? And the final result? Beyond our wildest dreams--everyone who walks in says it looks exactly like us, fits the house, and is gorgeous. Would I hire Wentworth again? Absolutely.
