My builder uses Houzz Pro to plan the timeline and give detailed estimates and daily updates with photos of progress, and provide invoices at pre-agreed key points in the build. This made the whole experience much more efficient and stress-free.

Icon Building Group

“We had a custom home built by Icon about a year and a half ago, and we couldn't be happier with the result. Icon puts a great deal of effort into planning and finalizing selections before breaking ground, which allows construction to move efficiently once permits are approved. The entire process was well organized, and Icon delivered on the timeline they committed to. Charlie, the CEO, is incredibly kind, honest, and patient. During the planning stages, we spent a lot of time discussing options with him, and he was always available to answer questions, provide guidance, and share his expertise. Working with Paul Psenka Architects was also a wonderful experience. Paul was thoughtful and patient throughout the design process and helped us create a home that our family will enjoy for years to come. One thing that sets Icon apart is its ability to build both semi-custom and fully custom homes. If you're feeling overwhelmed by endless choices, their sales center helps simplify the decision-making process. On the other hand, if you'd like to explore every available option—as I did—they fully accommodate that as well. Now that we've been in our home for over a year, we've also had the opportunity to see how the warranty process works. Sandy Novak has been fantastic to work with whenever an issue arises. She is highly communicative, responsive, and committed to making sure concerns are addressed promptly. Building a custom home can be an overwhelming experience, but Icon does an excellent job of guiding homeowners through each step of the journey. The result is a beautiful, high-quality home backed by a team that continues to provide outstanding support long after move-in. We have recommended them to several friends and family members. Plus, we are working with them on new home projects too since they have a remodeling business as well!”

“Working with Jon on our custom home build was a pleasant experience from start to finish. We began our journey in the early stages, actively searching for the perfect lot to build upon. Jon quickly became an invaluable partner, helping us thoroughly evaluate various options and ultimately guiding us to the optimal lot based on our specific needs and desires. At this time, I had spoken with many custom home builders, but Jon stood out to me based on his values-family, quality, and transparency. What truly sets Jon apart is his deeply personalized approach. He took the time to sit down with us, not just to discuss blueprints, but to genuinely understand our personal lives, our inspirations, and our vision for a home. Shortly after, Jon translated these insights into mock-up designs that not only met but significantly exceeded our expectations. He is truly a custom builder, unique in his ability to take our initial inspiration, craft stunning designs from it, and then meticulously bring that vision to life, keeping us well-informed and engaged throughout the entire journey. Jon consistently excels with his attention to detail, remarkable creativity (especially when working within a specific budget), unwavering quality in his work, and outstanding interpersonal skills. These qualities combined made what could have been a daunting process, incredibly enjoyable. We highly recommend Jon to anyone looking for a truly custom home builder who prioritizes client vision and delivers exceptional results.”

“My project with D1 recently ended and I couldn’t be happier with the entire experience. Everyone I worked with from Brian in design to Mabel in architecture and to Linda in architecture design to Peter my project manager, were extremely helpful with the design process, easy to work with, and patient with me. Their Builder Trend site makes it so easy to do everything and communicate with the team. I did a first floor remodel and after interviewing many firms, I chose Design First because they thought out of the box and reconfigured my kitchen in a space I never before considered while also taking into consideration design elements I wanted to incorporate. I credit the wonderful experience I had to my project manager Peter. He is first class. Not only was this my first remodel but I’m also a first time homeowner and Peter answered every question I had, was patient when I changed my mind on windows or wanted to see other options for range hoods, and he provided great recommendations for tuck pointing that were out of the scope of our assigned project. During the demo and construction stages I was out of the country twice and Peter was always available to talk, he sent me photos and messages of the work in process to make sure I knew and was happy with what was going on. It was a relief to have this constant communication because I was able to change the shape of am arched doorway while abroad which I love. When problems or hiccups arose, as they will, Peter was straightforward, responsive, and got things done. When my range hood was blemished, Peter and Keith were the first to say it’s need to be redone and were just as unhappy as I was. Knowing that they expected the same outcome I did showed me they cared about the quality of the finished project as much as I did. Peter also took care of minor cosmetic touches and walked me through some system maintenance issues. Peter is great to work with because he is responsive, direct, friendly and easy to work with. I trust Peter and have already recommended him to a good friend. When I decide to tackle other projects I will contact D1 and Peter. Thanks so much!”
