This Kitchen Remodel is in a 1930’s Home and was possible by combining the original Kitchen and Breakfast Room. The homeowners have hectic professional lives and two young daughters. She wanted a space that was both Serene for Sunday Morning coffee and Elegant enough for Entertaining. He wanted a very functional Cook’s Kitchen, he said, “Design it like a ship, every square inch matters.” She imagined a white-on-white kitchen, yet also had photos pulled of some very bright orange and fuscia cabinets as possible Bar Area ideas. The whole home is filled with color, has an elegant, fashion forward nature. My biggest concern with white-on-white was that it would fall flat against the saturation in the rest of the house. Taking off from her love of a bold pop of color, I suggested a high-gloss black cabinet, the orange or fucshia would have been too overpowering in that length. While the black is certainly bold in that quantity, we felt it was also as classic as a Little Black Dress. Paired with some French Bistrio touches, Chinoiserie style, and plenty of nods to Fashion and we had a fabulous unique kitchen that blended She and He perfectly.

The home’s attached garage resembles a guest cottage that accents the main home. Spanish cedar garage doors complement the home’s blue label cedar shingles.

Eric Barry Photography When designing your new home, there are many aspects of construction and design to consider. Consistency in design throughout the project is one of them. This beautiful home has some great architectural details that really make it unique. Copper accents were used above the porch and garage. A walk out second story balcony is the perfect evening retreat. Large granite steps were used at 3 different entrance points. Lastly, the quintessential New England stone, Boston Blend Round, was used throughout the project as siding, chimney stone, columns, and archways. This New England style design was echoed throughout the interior including a grand fireplace in the living room. The neutral tones of tan, gray, brown, and white are carried through the color scheme of the room. Pops of red and green in accent pieces give you added color without overpowering the space. Our clients requested the final additions for their lovely outdoor living space. In the midst of their backyard oasis, we created the ideal transition from inside sitting area to the existing pool: an outdoor living area complete with an outdoor kitchen underneath a covered patio! The patio cover boasts tongue and groove ceilings with recessed lighting and ceiling fans, even a sound system! An outdoor TV was wired in for additional entertainment while the burgers are grilling on this lovely stone kitchen. Custom made, the outdoor kitchen perfectly nestles the Big Green Egg for the best smoked meal! There is ample food preparation space and storage in this kitchen. The final touches were made when we resurfaced the existing ceiling in the screened in patio with matching tongue and groove stained wood! This space is fitted with easily accessible electrical outlets as well.

We completely renovated a simple low-lying house for a university family by opening the back side with large windows and a wrap-around patio. The kitchen counter extends to the exterior, enhancing the sense of openness to the outside. Large overhanging soffits and horizontal cedar siding keep the house from overpowering the view and help it settle into the landscape. Transforming a Master Bathroom When our clients purchased their beautiful home in South Fort Myers, FL they fell in love with the expansive, sweeping space. It wasn’t long, however, before they realized the master bathroom just didn’t suit their taste. The large walk-in shower was practically cave-like. Consequentially, it completely dwarfed the bathroom. Along with bland colors, outdated finishes, and a dividing wall in the middle of the room, the whole space felt smaller than its ample dimensions implied. There was no question about it – the bathroom needed an update. Making Room for More First, we demolished the existing finishes and cut the concrete slab for new underground plumbing. We minimized the imposing shower and moved it to the other side of the room. Moving the shower also allowed for the installation of our Dura Supreme Alectra style cabinetry in cocoa brown. For increased functionality, we created split his-and-hers vanities. Then we added towers to match the cabinets. With interior outlets, the towers added smart storage for bathroom appliances, helping to keep the counters clutter-free. For a finishing touch, we outlined the large mirrors with crown molding trim in a complimentary finish – an essential detail to tie all the cabinetry together. The Spa To bring the feel of the spa to this gorgeous home, we installed our luxurious drop-in 72”x42” Kohler Air Massage bathtub. We completely surrounded it with 3cm granite countertops in Delicatus green and added a tub deck with tile backsplashes for a sumptuous ambiance. Lighting On either side of the his-and-hers vanity, we installed George Kovach tube sconces. Vertical placement of the sconces provided ample lighting while enhancing the contemporary style of the space. To frame the room, we added a drop ceiling with recessed lighting and outlined the tray ceiling with crown molding to match the rest of the design. To complete the bath remodel, we installed the final element – a stunningly unique 10-light polished chrome chandelier from Maxim lighting. A Complete Transformation When we met with our clients, it was instantly clear to us why they were unhappy with their master bathroom. The cave-like shower and cumbersome dividing wall overpowered a room in dire need of a modernizing. Furthermore, with two small children and a busy lifestyle, we could sense our clients not only desired a bathroom renovation, they needed a relaxing retreat. Ultimately, this project was nothing less than a complete transformation of space. In fact, by the time we had finished, the only original fixtures left were the windows! With beautifully updated finishes and an improved layout, we were able to achieve the functionality our clients craved along with a new, spa-like feel. The end result was nothing short of a haven at home – the perfect spot to recharge at the end of a long day.

This beautiful home boasted fine architectural elements such as arched entryways and soaring ceilings but the master bathroom was dark and showing it’s age of nearly 30 years. This family wanted an elegant space that felt like the master bathroom but that their teenage daughters could still use without fear of ruining anything. The neutral color palette features both warm and cool elements giving the space dimension without being overpowering. The free standing bathtub creates space while the addition of the tall vanity cabinet means everything has a home in this clean and elegant space.

This 1970's home had a complete makeover! The goal of the project was to 1) open up the main floor living and gathering spaces and 2) create a more beautiful and functional kitchen. We took out the dividing wall between the front living room and the kitchen and dining room to create one large gathering space, perfect for a young family and for entertaining friends! Onto the exciting part - the kitchen! The existing kitchen was U-Shaped with not much room to have more than 1 person working at a time. We kept the appliances in the same locations, but really expanded the amount of workspace and cabinet storage by taking out the peninsula and adding a large island. The cabinetry, from Holiday Kitchens, is a blue-gray color on the lowers and classic white on the uppers. The countertops are walnut butcherblock on the perimeter and a marble looking quartz on the island. The backsplash, one of our favorites, is a diamond shaped mosaic in a rhombus pattern, which adds just the right amount of texture without overpowering all the gorgeous details of the cabinets and countertops. The hardware is a champagne bronze - one thing we love to do is mix and match our metals! The faucet is from Kohler and is in Matte Black, the sink is from Blanco and is white. The flooring is a luxury vinyl plank with a warm wood tone - which helps bring all the elements of the kitchen together we think! Overall - this is one of our favorite kitchens to date - so many beautiful details on their own, but put together create this gorgeous kitchen!

Dear Garden Associates worked closely with the homeowner and builder to create gardens that reflect the homeowner’s taste and compliment the architecture of the home. Curving boulder walls were installed throughout the gardens to create a series of terraces, address grading issues, and protecting large trees. Pathways and steps of large irregular flagstone provide access around the home and through various gardens of fragrant seasonal plantings. Path and tree lights extend the use of the gardens into the night, but do not overpower the night experience. A terrace with a fireplace and water feature was constructed to appear as old ruins and to provide destination away from the home.
