James Schulze's foundation, which is the core of Discovery Development Group, started in his early childhood, when he was exposed to construction and framing over seas. From a young child, James knew that he wanted to make the world a greater place thanks to the support and leadership of his parents, missionaries who traveled the world, landing for long periods of time in South East Asia and Africa. At the age of 16, James had the privilege of building churches, school houses, and remote tribal villages in the mountains of Thailand and Eastern Africa. This is where he learned the core principals of framing and construction. He later moved back to his home in Southern California, an area known for their rich heritage of California Framers and by the age of 19, James was framing houses. He was quickly promoted to lead man, due to his exceptional attention to detail and passion for building. By 20, James was building whole houses and continued to do so, later accepting a construction management position building houses for D.R. Horton. After relocating to Charleston with the Airforce reserve, he once again re-entered the construction industry as a project manager, building high-end custom homes with Marsh Contracting. James later went out on his own, founding and launching Discovery Development Group, LLC. When James isn't overseeing projects throughout the day, you can still find him with his belt on, working hand in hand with his team members, teaching them daily the importance of durability and integrity as the foundation for Discovery Development Group. James also continues to serve our nation as a member of the United States Air Force Reserve at Joint Base Charleston and resides in Mount Pleasant with his three children and his wife.
